**Around the world - I know its lame but it would be interesting to see if you could read one that takes place on each ..."
Those are all great ideas! I like the series one... I try to make the quarterly challenges super flexible so that someone can complete it by doing as few as just one book a month or way more if they want to make it more challenging for themselves.
Maybe for our next quarterly challenge we do a series challenge, complete any series you choose, from a trilogy to something longer???
And then maybe we should also start some longer challenges, maybe put up and annual challenge (maybe the around the world challenge) and see what happens. We could always add more later.
What do you guys think?
Oh, and BTW you two might want to check out the Moderator Support Group, it's not super active, but I have gotten some good ideas there and it's a place to ask questions of other mods so check it out if you want :)

Haha! I love it! Thanks Jeanine :) I think I will stick with it for awhile :)

Thank you again for doing the poll this month Karla! You did a great job and I really appreciate all the work you put in, I know it's kind of a big job :)
And thank you Jeanine for putting up the genre read! I know it wasn't super active, but there was a little participation and I think it was a good pick :)
I was thinking going forward that the three of us could take turns with the different activities in the group. This month I (kinda) did the swap it with me and pick it for me threads and Karla did the poll and Jeanine did the genre read. So maybe for April Jeanine could do the poll, I'll do the genre read and Karla can organize the swap and pick threads? And then we just keep cycling through every month? What do you think?
I don't want either of you to feel obligated, so if it's more work than you want to put in that's cool, but I want you both to have the opportunity to contribute and help make the group a little bit more 'yours' too :)
Any other ideas? Do you think there is any activities we should drop from the group? Anything we should add? Do something different?
Any ideas for our next quarterly challenge? Gotta come up with something good this time so SmittenKiteen isn't the only one to participate, haha.
I am very happy with our little group here, but I am more than happy to try something new and different.
Let me know what you think

The group got started back on March 13, 2010 with this thread and some interesting conversation about what exactly counts as a bodice ripper soon followed.
Our most active book discussion this year by far was back in August for Ashes In the Wind, it seemed to be a love it or hate it sort of book for this group.
We have seen some great cover art and even made a game out of it. We had some fun discussions regarding the virtues of skimming vs reading every word and rather to bookmark or not to bookmark. We launched the No Book Left Behind Campaign and have just generally had a lot of fun!
We are always looking for new ideas or suggestions to help make our group better so I just started a new folder called 'admin stuff' for the other mods and I to be able to easily discuss ideas for the group together and also for any members to offer up any ideas or suggestions, so if there is something on your mind, please come let us know!
Thank you everyone for an awesome first year and here's to another one!!!

Valentina by Fern Michaels 1978

GoodReads rating: 4.12
GoodReads description: VALENTINA: Alluring slave girl, sold into bondage after escaping the perverse, jealous queen she served, then chosen by the ancient leader of the mighty Islams to be his consort - and ultimately his successor.
PAXON, SULTAN OF JAKARD: exotic and strong, a magnificent warrior who hungered for Valentina from the moment they met.
MENGHIS, SHEIKH AL JEBAL: clever and virile, a just wise man who desired to share her soul in everlasting rapture.
Discussion Questions: This book has a bit of a crazy WTF BR reputation, what did you think? Was is too over the top? How did it compare to other BR's you have read? What was your favorite scene? The most WTF scene? Favorite character? If you could change one thing about this book what would it be?

The waitress asks them for their orders.
The man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke," and turns to the ostrich, "What's yours?"
"I'll have the same," says the ostrich.
A short time later the waitress returns with the order. "That will be $9.40 please." The man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment.
The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke."
The ostrich says, "I'll have the same."
Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.
This becomes routine until the two enter again. "The usual?" asks the waitress.
"No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad," says the man. "Same," says the ostrich.
Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, "That will be $32.62."
Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table.
The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?"
"Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there."
"That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!"
"That's right..Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man.
The waitress asks, "What's with the ostrich?"
The man sighs, pauses and answers, "My second wish was for a tall chick with a big ass and long legs who agrees with everything I say.."

Feel free to poke around girls. Make yourselves at home :)
