Great review Creeker! Short, but it tells you what you need to know! Thanks for sharing!

Thought you might like this one Jeanine ;)
I have a few, not sure which one I am going to read yet. Must think on that some more....

Definition: According to this site: "Gothic fiction was a part of the Romantic movement which was concerned with strong emotions of passionate love or intense hate. There was usually an atmosphere of apprehension and suspense as well as a location involving a medieval castle or ancient ruins. Gothic fiction often featured subjects such as the supernatural, family curses, mystery, madness, death and decay."
These were very popular in romantic fiction in the 50's, 60's and 70's and probably lead to what would now be called 'romantic suspense'.
Check out authors like Daphne du Maurier, Virginia Coffman, Phyllis A. Whitney, Joan Aiken, Dorothy Eden, Victoria Holt, Barbara Michaels, Mary Stewart, and Jill Tattersall or just look for covers with a woman running or screaming and a big mansion/castle in the background and you are probably on the right track :)
To participate: Simply pick any book that could be considered a Gothic Romance (modern or a classic like Jane Eyre or Wurthering Heights) Post here what you intend to read and pop back in when you are done and let us know what you thought!
Discussion questions: What did you think!? How do you think the gothic romances are different from BR's? Similar? Why do you think these type of romances were so popular in the 50's and 60's? What was the creepiest/scariest scene in the book you read? Will you continue to read more from this genre?

Thanks Jennefer! It looks like a lot of fun! I've been looking for a place like this for months. :)"
So glad you found us!

Savage Ecstasy by Janelle Taylor 1982

GoodReads rating: 4.11
GoodReads description: It was like lightning striking, the first time they looked into each other's eyes: Gray Eagle, the captured Indian brave, and Alisha, the beautiful young settler. As the proud Oglala warrior was being tortured by his white captors, only Alisha seemed to notice that he was a human being-handsome and strong, and one who took her breath away.
Availability: This is out of print but looks like there are several copies out there so check out your favorite used book retailer. It is however avalable for Kindle for only $3! Bonus!
Discussion Questions: Most of the other books we have read in this group have been set in Europe while this is set in the wild American frontier..... how did you like the setting in this book? How does the setting make this book different than other BR's we have read? What was your favorite scene? Favorite character? If you could change one thing about this book what would it be? This is the first in a series (The Gray Eagle series) will you continue on with the series?
Please be considerate of others and use spoiler tags when revealing key plot elements.
You can now hide your 'spoilers' with the new spoiler tag instead of having to worry about leaving a space or censoring yourself! Just put <*spoiler><*/spoiler> before and after your spoiler (without the *) and your spoiler will be hidden with a link like this (view spoiler) Pretty cool huh! :)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

A Love Story
He grasped me firmly but gently just above my elbow and guided me into a room, his room. Then he quietly shut the door and we were alone.
He approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low, reassuring voice close to my ear.
"Just relax."
Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused
hands start at my ankles, gently probing, and moving upward along my calves slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat. I knew I should be afraid, but somehow I didn't care. His touch was so experienced, so sure.
When his hands moved up onto my thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and partly closed my eyes. My pulse was pounding. I felt his knowing fingers caress my abdomen, my ribcage. And then, as he cupped my firm, full breasts in his hands, I inhaled sharply. Probing, searching, knowing what he wanted, he brought his hands to my shoulders, slid them down my tingling spine and into my panties.
Although I knew nothing about this man, I felt oddly trusting and
expectant. This is a man, I thought. A man used to taking charge. A
man not used to taking `no' for an answer. A man who would tell me what he wanted. A man who would look into my soul and say ...
"Okay, ma'am, all done."
My eyes snapped open and he was standing in front of me, smiling,
holding out my purse. "You can board your flight now

LOL Oh well, maybe next time :)
