I love cover art! Come share your favorites and/or least favorites (let's be honest, bodice ripper art can be pretty bad! LOL)

Jeanine, I almost used this as our group avatar but decided to go with something a little less, well naked LOL

Acornn wrote: "Karla, love that cover. I've read that book and the one that comes after it, 'The Prince of Eden.' Just know the 'Eden' series is not romance."

I have the last Eden book and it looks more like HF than romance, so I'm prepared. I love both genres.

Man of My Dreams. It's the step-back of the original version. The old Johanna Lindsey step-backs are full of Fabio goodness.

Some of the recent books still have that old bodice ripping flair!

Captured

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Okay, I own about 98% of these books. *big wide grin*

Wendy, Lady Evelyn Quince (ladyevelynquince) | 240 comments A lot of these covers were painted by Elaine Duillo. She was the best! I also liked Elaine Gignilliat and Pino.

Love Duillo's stuff! I got a bunch of Donna Comeaux Zide novels on Ebay and she had done the artwork for most of them.

Lost Splendor

Savage in Silk

Caress and Conquer

I don't know if she did this one, but it has the same lush feel to it.
A Splendid Passion

Ooh, an author I haven't heard of...are they good? I love the covers. The vibrant colors are one of the things that make them so memorable.

Misfit BTW, if any of these books are on GR without covers leave a note with the ISBN and I'll get them up for you.

Most of my books are soo old skool they don't even have ISBNs! :)"

In that case a link to the the correct edition/publisher/date. Although most of these books have only the one edition. I just like to see covers on the book pages :)

Haven't read any yet, but the covers sucked me in as well. I go all zombie and grabby when I see purty colors like that.

Interesting...this book I added to my shelf today has cover art done by Melissa Duillo, her daughter. I see the influence.

Agree. It's ranked high on my favorite covers. It's got that dark edge of threat, danger, and helplessness. Promises to be a real meaty read. :-)

message 26: by Misfit (new)

Misfit Oh, I might need to get the Roses book. BTW, any of you ever make it to little old Kent, WA do stop by the used book store on Meeker Street. I forget the name but you can't miss it. One small room floor to ceiling with shelves of old romances. Book cover heaven.

Nona (goodreadscomnona) | 61 comments I live near Tulsa Ok and we have a Gardners Used Book store, over 840,000 titles. They have alot of BR and historical books and you can take in your unwanted books and swap them out or they give you credit towards your next purchase. It's pretty cool.

message 28: by Misfit (new)

Misfit Careful Jeanine or I might take some pics and post them here and really get you gals fired up.

message 33: by Nona (new)

Nona (goodreadscomnona) | 61 comments Gardners does something simular, they have a bag swap, each paper bag has 6-10 books on a certain genre and you can swap or buy but you have no idea whats inside as far as author, titles or anything.

Not exactly a bodice ripper, more like a pulpy historical, but I LOVE the cover art.

My grandmother had all of Alpert's albums and I just transferred them to mp3 not too long ago. :D

Hadn't even made the connection here, but I can see it. I loved the Whipped Cream picture as a kid. And yes, seemed like porn at the time!

I got a book last night with a cover that I just LOVE. It's by Elaine Gignilliat. There's just something about it that grabbed me. Maybe it's the colors (nice indoor candlelight and crystal glow). Maybe it's the pose. There just seems to be lots going on there between the H/h that the usual clinch covers lack, with the intimacy & competition of the dance. :) Definitely looking forward to reading this one!
