I don't know about all of you but I have several books on my book shelves (especially old bodice rippers) that have a 0.00 rating here on GoodReads or might have a few ratings but no actual reviews. This just won't do! So I am hereby launching a Bodice Ripper Readers Anonymous Campaign to review the un-reviewed on GoodReads!!! No Book Left Behind! I think for the common good of the GoodReads community we have an obligation to read and review our un-reviewed books! (especially the BR's!) It's like your GoodReads civic duty or something! LOL

Every time you read and review and un-reviewed book on GoodReads post your review here (or a link to your review) so that we can all check it out and express our gratitude!

If you are new to writing reviews here are a few ideas to get you started:

Briefly summarize the plot/story line and characters in the book in your own words or include the summary from the back cover (if you do this be sure to note in your review that it is from the back cover).
What did you like about the book? not like about the book?
Were the characters likable?
If you could change something about the book what would it be?
What do you wish you had known about the book before you decided to read it?
Was it a light easy weekend read? Or was it a bit more dark and heavy?
What other books (or authors) could you compare it to?
What did you like/dislike about the writers style?
What kind of reader do you think might enjoy the book? Who do you think should avoid the book?
Consider including "content warnings" example: Warning this book is not for those who might be offended by rape, incest, extreme violence, sex with a horse etc... you know the kinds of things some people might want to avoid even it you didn't mind it.

And the most important part of all...
This book review has been provided by the No Book Left Behind Campaign! A Bodice Ripper Readers Anonymous group initiative to review the un-reviewed! LOL OK you don't have to include that last part, I just think it would be kinda funny if we did :)

Here's one I just finished.

Master of Rosewood - 1854 South Carolina plantation romance-adventure

And I just edited it to add the bit about our glorious initiative. :D

I just gave up trying to count my 0.0 books. Way too many. But I'll do my best!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) Great idea, Jennefer.

Misfit I always write a review, especially on the older OOP's, and on Amazon as well. Drives me nuts when there's no book info as well as those *loved this book* two sentence Amazon reviews.

Okay ladies. I suck at writing and usually don't know where to start. The list above will help of course but I'm still a scared little girl when it comes to putting it down on paper (or screen). I know, it's ridiculous but that's how I feel. Although I don't think I'm guilty of just writing "loved this book", I usually just give a star rating and don't write anything. I pledge to start studing reviews and using the questions above to help me write reviews. I have about 20 books that don't have ratings and even more that have no info or covers. I have librarian status and I will try to update the books I have asap.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I know what you're feeling about putting personal stuff "out there" on the web for public viewing/feedback. I went through the same anxiety with my fanfiction, but I eventually got over it and my style evolved and improved. Same with reviews.

Those questions are definitely a good place to start.

It's helpful to have a bit more to go with a star rating, so it can be put in perspective. Someone might give a book 4 or 5 stars based solely on who wrote it - author groupies. Or if they love lots of psychological angst and rate it 5, but someone doesn't care for all that emo stuff and reads it, they'll wonder why the high rating.

The internet needs more reviews, and less Facebook posts about going to the store to buy a gallon of milk!

If you have a book with no info from the jacket, you can always post it at the GR librarians group and they will put it up for you.

I don't always write reviews. Only if I feel I have something to add to the reviews that are out there. The last thing I want to do is waste my time saying what others have already said and probably more eloquently or humorously than I ever could. But if there are no reviews, then posting a reivew is a must and if I strongly disagree with what most people have to say about the book then I gotta do one for those as well.

I know what you mean Tonya! It is hard to put your feelings about a book into words! There is a reason there are so many two line "It was good. I liked it." reviews out there, because writing reviews can be hard! What do I have to say about this book? I don't know, it was good, I liked it. LOL But I think it is a good thing to do for our fellow readers! I know I appreciate a good review when I am out searching for books so I should try to return the favor!

Jeanine wrote: "...if you have more than 50 books on your shelf, get librarian status and help add descriptions and covers..."

Jeanine, I had no idea 50 books was all it took! How exactly can I get librarian status? That is awesome!

Great review Karla! Whoo hoo! Is it silly it makes me happy to see that "This book review has been provided by the No Book Left Behind Campaign! A Bodice Ripper Readers Anonymous group initiative to review the un-reviewed!" at the end? LOL I love it!

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

We have to advertise our movement and inspire others! LOL Got to tap into that urge of people to give their .02 worth. :)

LOL Exactly!!!

message 14: by Misfit (new)

Misfit Librarian status is pretty handy to have and there's no big requirement to be policing books all day. I like it that I can add a cover, jacket blurb, correct page count without posting a request over at the Librarian group. I only go there for the *tricky* books.

message 16: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 107 comments Alright, this would be my first review so I hope I did ok! Really I mostly hope it's not too long. I tend to babble when I have an opinion :p I'm not even sure how to link to this .... here's the book and my review is on there Forget-Me-Not ... If there's some better way to link to my reviews someone please share! I'm such a Goodreads newb :)

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

On the book page, it still says you're reading it. (??) So I went to your profile and your read books, and it was there. Huh, weird.

To directly link to your review, go into My Books and view them either by Main, List, or Reviews. To the extreme right, there are the links for "edit" and "view." The URL under "view" is the one that takes you directly to your review.

And might I say that that was a perfect review. :) Well done.

Amanda | 107 comments Thanks for the help Karla! And the encouraging words :)

Alright, here's a better link http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... but I still couldn't figure out how to make it say just the book's name instead of the actual link. lol. Such a newb!!!!

Wow Mandy! Awesome review!!! I agree with Karla, perfect! Will you write my review of Flowers of Fire for me??? :)

message 21: by Jennefer (new)

Jennefer (jenneferpracticex3) | 444 comments Mod
Ok- technically Karla reviewed this before I did, but before she and I read this for our buddy read here there were no reviews for this... so I am counting it! Here is my review for Flowers of Fire.

I think my goal is going to be to try and read at least one book that needs a review every month. We will see how that goes :)

Got another one reviewed! Loved this one! 5 stars!
Hide My Savage Heart by Gimone Hall
my review

I have another book of hers that is going to be bumped up my TBR and if that one is as good as this one was, well I am going to have to hunt down some more of her work!

I am really trying to do my best with this! I have a hard time writing reviews, but I think it is a good thing to do! So I try :)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 214 comments Hi all - I know it's not technically a bodice ripper (it was set in 1979) but I reviewed The Insiders and included our blurb. The story itself is SO old skool bodice ripper that I thought it was warranted.

Hope that's ok -- haven't mastered the link stuff (urgh!) so haven't posted it.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Tammy, below is the html code to link directly to your review. If you just put a space between the a and href, you'll have the link you need! :) I had to take out the space so that you could see the format.

The Insiders by Rosemary Rogers.

Hi Sandi -- you've set your profile to private so we can't see your bookshelves to help you -- check out Karla's reply to me from May 14 where she gives me the actual link to my review, if you use that as a guide but switch the # and the name of the book it should help. Or check out Amanda's message from April 23. Hope this helps a bit. Good luck! :)

Wendy, Lady Evelyn Quince (ladyevelynquince) | 245 comments I posted a review of Dangerous Obsession by Natasha Peters , which I read last month. I floved this book, mostly for the heroine. I'm not very good with links, but it's there.

I haven't posted here in a while, but I started reading bodice rippers again, and will try to come up with some more reviews. You ladies do them so well it's a kind of a daunting task!

Wendy, I too loved this book. I'd like to read your review because it's been years since I read it, can't find it though. I remember how much I enjoyed that little gypsy gal. She has remained one of my favorite heroines, if not my favorite.
