I did read reluctant concubine, but held off on book 2 when I had no idea when book 3 was coming out. But I think I read it maybe 6 months ago? So hopefully will remember what's going on when I start book 2. I can't remember the names of the characters right now, but I do remember it ended with them having to take a dangerous trip.....

I really think my bad memory is because I read so much and if something doesn't really stand out to me it gets lost among all the other stories I have read. I have an excellent memory in everyday life, to the point its annoying to my kids....

222868 Doug, wth is this person talking about? All the evil people were white men/humans. Monty was a good guy and he was black. (I hope I am remembering that right). Meg was a woman who saved everybody. Some people need to just stop with this crap. A “more skilled writer”? Seriously? How about this reviewer write their own book and they can put all the inclusion and race issues they want in it.

If you want to see how forcing politics into a book can go very wrong, read The Queen of Air and Darkness. It was so full of inclusion that the author forgot to write a decent ending after 900 pages. Yes, I am still bitter that I paid hard cover price for that piece of garbage. It didn’t deserve the 2* I gave it. So actually, you don’t want to read it.

222868 Not much time to read lately but did read a couple of Dorina Basarab novellas that I had gotten free at some point so I got those off my kindle. I love Dory. Zombie's Bite Lover's Knot

Then I didn't know what to read, just started paging through my kindle. I saw Emperor's Edge books 1-3 that I also got free at some point. So I started the first book. Its pretty good so far. I remember some folks here really liked these back in the day....
The Emperor's Edge Collection. And now I just realized there are 9 books in the series....so I guess will be busy for awhile...

If you read her blog post she explains how her husband moved his assistant into their home against her wishes. The assistant was taking over everything while she was still there. It seems completely plausible to me that they were spiking her food.

Also, she would have told the doctor all her medications and supplements so if any of those could of been accounted for in the regular tests. I think the doctor was great for sticking with it and doing the other tests just to see. She said the first thing he told when the tests came back was was to call the police.

Either way a very sad story.

I didn't hate the ending completely, mostly just what I listed in the spoiler in my last comment was what bothered me.

222868 Finished Summoned to Thirteenth Grave Summoned to Thirteenth Grave (Charley Davidson, #13) by Darynda Jones last night. I enjoyed it, but am I the only one who had issues with the ending?
(view spoiler)

But it does look like there will be more to come for some of these characters...so that's good

Gave it 4*

222868 Did any of you hear about what's going on with Sherrilyn Kenyon. I saw a weird facebook post on her page the other day from some guy apologizing claiming an assistant tricked him into behaving badly toward her. Didn't think much of it. But then I saw that she is now accusing her husband (in process of divorce) and his assistant of poisoning her over 3 years so he could collect on a life insurance policy she didn't know about. And the IT guy was in on helping to control her and steal her money too. And someone else said the husband is trying to get money from her books claiming some type of ownership of them. Its crazy! If this is true I hope she gets some justice!

222868 I am still slogging my way through Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices, #3) by Cassandra Clare . Its over 800 pages, I'm at around 70% I think. Now, I loved all the previous books in the Mortal Instruments world. But this trilogy just seems off to me. There are parts and characters I absolutely love. But there are also parts that I'm like "Come on! This is getting ridiculous!" I have no idea how I am going to rate it at this point. I guess it will depend on the ending. I saw on Facebook a lot of people did not like the ending, but others were fine with it. After 800+ pages I better be okay with the ending! Really hoping I'm not disappointed after paying hardcover price......

222868 So this guy is supposedly the #1 book cover model and went on a rant about how fat, lazy and disgusting Americans are....If any of you have any author connections, may want to let them know not use his photos anymore. The facebook backlash is pretty awesome.

I didn't even think about reviewing the earlier books. I did see them all on netaglley. I've got ratings on goodreads for them but that's it. I don't review everything I read (sometimes I just put rating). And some of those were from so long ago.

I get refused by netgalley pretty much 100% of the time if I request anything. The only reason why I have an account is because 2 authors offered their books for review and you automatically were sent the book. They've sent me books about 5 or 6 times I think. But that's it.

222868 I'm almost done with my Charley Davidson re-read, on book 12 now. I really think I need something non-paranormal after reading all 12 in a row. I'm thinking historical or maybe even a contemporary. Its gonna take something to get me out of Charley-world. Any recs welcome.

222868 Finished re-read Eighth Grave After Dark. I'm trying to figure out exactly who is who in Beep's army. Charley mentions near the end Sentry, Scholar, Spiritualist and Healer specifically along with 3 guardians. I'm pretty sure Mr. Wong is Sentry and Swopes is Scholar. And I know Amber is Spiritualist. Only one I can think of for Healer is Gemma, but that doesn't feel right to me. And I can't think of what Ubie and Cookie would be. Pretty sure the 3 bikers are the guardians.
