I haven't had much time or focus to read so I've been doing rereads. I've read the Iron Seas series again, and I'm halfway through my 5th reading of
The Kraken King. The first 3 books I had only read once about 5 years ago. But I just realized I missed story/novella with Archimedes and Lady Corsair
Tethered. So I might go back and read that one.
I haven't even read the last Innkeeper but I think I will reread the earlier ones again first. And the new Cassie Palmer book is out. I just have no time and when I am snatching a few minutes here and there I feel like I don't always enjoy a new book as much as I could.

LAB... Did you finish Kingdom of Exiles? [bookcover:Kingdom of Exi..."Vanessa, I finally finished it the other day. I also have no time to read lately.
I did like it. Interesting world and characters. I liked the secondary characters too. Some things could've been explained better and I was confused at times. I think better editing would've just fixed this though. And towards the end it felt a little YA-ish to me with a lot inner thoughts with the main characters. (I like YA so I didn't really care). I loved the different beasts. I gave it 3 stars but I might round up to 4 since I got it from netgalley and don't them to hate me and stop sending books. It was definitely a 3.5* for me anyway, so rounding up not unreasonable now that I've thought about it. I am looking forward to the next book so that says something.

"We are not goin..."Just got my tickets! My husband is going with me. I would've probably gone myself but I don't like driving the highway at night. And I get 2 free MMPs this way. :) Of course I picked Ilona Andrews & Tessa Dare. There were only 8 VIP tickets left after I bought mine.
Vanessa - thanks so much for posting about this! Looking forward to meeting you in person!

"We are not goin..."ooh Mohegan sun is only 90 minutes away....Now to see if hubby or anyone will go with me....

Finished book 4 of Lizzie Grace series. These are pretty good, though repetitive if you read them back to back, though I didn't really mind. Next one is out in August (I think) and I am looking forward to it,
Just starting
Kingdom of Exiles which the publisher offered through netgalley to apparently a lot of people.
Melindeeloo wrote: "Wow, no new posts today? They had over 10 years to get the licenses in compliance with Real ID act, but didn't bother.

I've been reading the Lizzie Grace series. Enjoyable enough. 3* for all books so far. Halfway through book 3
Hunter Hunted.
Publisher sent me an arc via netgalley for
Kingdom of ExilesSounds like it was sent to a lot of people. Sounds interesting so will see...

Just finished
Blood Kissed
. It was pretty good. Gave it 3* and will continue with next book. Some of it got a little repetitive and it was weird they way they kept walking into traps and being like "this is probably a trap"....but the book was still enjoyable.

Kerrigan Byrn is another one. Yes its their social media and they can do what they want, but I don't have to follow them either....

Finished
. I liked it very much, but felt like there should've been a bit more at the end. I gave it 4*. The dragon was awesome - very "dragon-like" if you know what I mean.

Maybe there's something running in the background that is draining the battery.

Just finished
American Witch
. It was good! 4* for me. Next one is out in October, I believe.

Currently reading
Burn, Baby, Burn
and really liking it so far. The humor is definitely "on" in this one. I do wish I had re-read Bailey and Quinn's first book, but I do remember enough so its not a bother. You don't have to read all the in between stories, but I would read the first book
which is about how they meet, then you can just jump to this one. The other books in the series are not tied in. (and although some were enjoyable they weren't quite as good).

Tiger & Frisco - completely agree. If whatever beliefs fit into the story line and make sense and the book is good then that's all that matters. I did not agree on a couple of statements in the book but that is my opinion. And the book wasn't lecturing me. Book was awesome = 5*.
This other reviewer went nuts about one tiny thing that was mentioned, and it was pretty down the middle IMO, but since not 100% to her POV she went completely nuts. Its just weird that people let their lives be affected that way.
Now, I did not care at all for the lecturing Cassandra Clare did in her last novel. And yes it was literally a lecture at one point. So I am done with her. Which is sad, because her earlier books were very inclusive and in a way that made sense in the stories and they will always be among my favorites.

I honestly don't understand some people. Just read a scathing review of
.
This is spoilery, so.....
(view spoiler)[Apparently the reviewer didn't like the fact that Adam did not hate the president of the United States. Seriously. A fictional werewolf did not hate a fictional president, and the reviewer felt that made Adam a republican. Even though it was stated that although Adam voted for him, he didn't like him that much, but respected the office. I personally did not care for the "racist cop" character who was bullying the family with the goats or the statement on how illegal immigration shouldn't matter, but I still gave it 5*. Because its FICTION and it was well written. But apparently, Adam is now an evil toxic male for this reviewer and her friends. Because a fictional wolf did not agree with this reviewer's political beliefs on everything. If anything, the story was pretty left leaning, but apparently not good enough for this person. Just picked up this freebie on amazon from my wish list.
The Lady's Protector
Currently about halfway through
. Was thinking of putting aside for
but I think I will just go ahead and finish it as quick as possible.
The RJ Blain books are ok, but a better editor I think would've made them all 4/5 stars. Most of the series for me was around a 3*, with a couple that were better and couple that were worse.

I've been reading
No Kitten Around. This series keeps me reading, but some are way better than others. I don't know what it is. I'll really like one book, then the next is a 2* read. This one is about a 3 right now...will see how it goes....
hen I have to get to
Grave Destiny

(view spoiler)[Naming the book after a character that is killed half way through and basically had nothing to do with the plot? Check.
Zara literally stabbed someone in the back, which is attempted murder. But let's just give her a pat on the head and a hug and let her roam among civilized people to reeducate her and give her a second chance. Check!
Let's be so inclusive so as to create every kind of relationship to show everyone love is love. Let's see we've got a heterosexual couple, 2 gay couples, a transgender, what are we missing? Oh a threesome! Let's put that in there too. Check!
Now, I don't mind different types of relationships, at all. I really don't. But it felt like she was using a checklist and forcing the stuff instead of just letting the plot go in some sense. I felt like I was being lectured to while reading the book.
