222868 Finding competent workers is definitely a pain. Luckily I just found a great plumbing company. Washer drain hose was backing up again. This has been happening off an on for years. I had it snaked twice which helped, but the root problem was the drain pipe was pitched wrong. I always avoided fixing it because the plumber I used to snake it in the past said we had to take down a wall, yadyadayada. This last time I had 3 plumbers out. Two wanted $250 just to snake it and would not guarantee it would fix it. Last guy said to just cut 2 inches from the vertical pipe connecting the vent pipe to the drain and lift the drain pipe to correct the pitch. Said it was "not rocket science". Voila! $179 and he snaked it too for that price to make sure all was good.

For carpentry type fixes I hire someone. My husband can change a door knob and we can paint some stuff ourselves, but everything else/bigger stuff I have found over the years its just worth it to hire someone who knows what they are doing....

Wilder was definitely not as good as the others, but it did make me laugh a bunch of times. I think I was expecting too much after the first books, but it was enjoyable for me.

I remember reading The Aeronaut's Windlass The Aeronaut's Windlass (The Cinder Spires, #1) by Jim Butcher years ago but a second book never came out. I can barely remember any of the book, except that it had cats in it. Still no release date on book 2. :(

222868 I'm working on To Catch A Rogue To Catch A Rogue (London Steampunk The Blue Blood Conspiracy #4) by Bec McMaster and as usual with this author its pretty darn good.

Vanessa - so glad to hear your hubby is doing well. Tie him to a chair if you need to make him stay still. It cold be fun! ;)

I'm hesitant on reading Shades of Wicked right away, because of my lousy memory and there will be 2 more books I think. But its so tempting.....

I think I am going to do a complete Charlie Davidson series reread before the last book comes out. This series has so many characters/events it might come in handy for me. Plus, they are so much fun!

BTW - I hated A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas . I twas a 2* for me and I almost DNFed it.

My daughter got her first college acceptance already. She only sent her applications 2 weeks ago....

222868 I love the Cassie Palmer Series and the Dorina series. Yes, there is A LOT going on in these books and things can get confusing. But I just love them. There was a story line in the last couple of Cassie books that had been dragged on too long. For me, the humor has always been perfect, even if some of the plot goes a little haywire. I always look forward to the next release in either series.

222868 I finished Fall Fall (VIP, #3) by Kristen Callihan . It was 3* for me. I really liked some parts but other parts/events felt just added as filler. It felt stretched out and I got bored at times. It was great to see the other band members and Scottie. Those were some of the best parts. So it wasn't horrible but nothing special either.

Then I started Wilder (The Wild Ones #3) by C.M. Owens Wilder and have already had some LOL moments. My biggest issue is keeping all the characters straight. I'm still getting confused on who is related to who.....

222868 The Goodreads Choice awards voting has opened. I only voted in 3 categories. As usual all the books I liked were in 1 category....

There's a new category this year - best of the best. Previous winners going against each other (all categories in one).

This book You Only Love Twice You Only Love Twice (London Steampunk The Blue Blood Conspiracy #3) by Bec McMaster is Gemma and Obsidian.

And I can barely remember the first couple of books so you're probably asking he wrong person about what you need to know. :) But some things are revealed and set up in previous books for the overall story with the bad guys, etc. But I do remember liking all the books, just not too clear on remembering all the events that happened....

Kristi - here is my review. I thought some stupid moves were done as well and the h does get called out on it later.

3 1/2* rounded up

This book started out very strong. I started late evening just thinking I would read a chapter or two and ended up staying up until 2AM. The beginning was a huge hook and quite shocking. Then it did peter out a bit and drag in the middle to 2/3 mark. I found during most of the book I didn't really like Anne that much. She was a bit of a jerk to her family and others. But, and this is the important thing for me for any flawed character, she learned and changed; evolved in a way. The last fourth or so was pretty good and had a bit of surprise. Part of the investigation is wrapped up but there is still a mystery to solve (more than one actually) and more bad guys, so the story arc will continue I assume throughout series. All in all, a good start and I will be reading on.

222868 I've had to unfollow some authors going on political rants on social media. Like Doug said, their page, they can post whatever they want. But after like 20 posts in one day about a subject...yeah...I just like your books, thanks.... There was one that was so obnoxious I am thinking about not reading her anymore, or at least getting from library and not paying for her books. People are not going to agree on everything. That's fine. And I respect someone who believes strongly in something whether I agree with it or not (my daughter and I often disagree on many things and I love getting her POV). But it would great to keep things respectful. You are not gong to sway anyone to your opinion if you are constantly attacking them or insulting them. I think it would be cool if they had personal pages for their views and author pages for book info. But again, their page they can do whatever they want.

I love Laurenston's page - she just posts funny stuff about animals. I also like Meljean Brooks' page - apparently she loves Wonder Woman and Aqua Man.

Vanessa - that response for an audio book question seems over the top. You are a customer interested in purchasing the author's product, and any type of rude comment is just poor customer service and presents a poor image. Even if it was someone else managing the page, they are representing the author.

I finished Swamp Spook. It was fun.

Just started You Only Love Twice You Only Love Twice (London Steampunk The Blue Blood Conspiracy #3) by Bec McMaster . This is one of those series that I love the author but I can barely remember what happened in previous books....
