222868 I was in Barnes & Noble today. I was surprised at the lack of selection they had. They had zero Meljean Brooks books, only a few Kristen Ashley, and other favorite authors had only a couple of books or none at all. Yet they still had a whole shelf of Fifty Shades of Grey. They had a paperback of the Rook, but it was $16. I just checked and its only $10.87 on Amazon. In the end I couldn't find anything to buy. I do pretty much all my reading on kindle but like to add copies of favorite books for my bookshelves.

I'm about 70% through The Governess Game and enjoying it. Next will probably be The Duke with the Dragon Tattoo. Then I will go back to the Miss Fortune book I out aside when Magic Triumphs came out.

Same here Lisa! I though High Voltage was amazing.

222868 Other random thoughts:

I LOVED the scene when Kate calls Ghastek and the guy freaks out when he realizes who is on the phone but he didn't put her on hold properly. "What do i do?!" ...you could transfer me to Ghastek......" Click.

Also loved when they stopped at the Sunshine Realty office. "Can we? Can we, please?" "The whole body or just the head?" "The head, its freakier....."

Definitely think something is going on between Ghastek and Rowena.

We really didn't see Jim at all......

Thought Dali was kinda bitchy. Or is that just beast lord's mate stress and the baby thing getting to her?

When Curran's wings came out and Kate was like "That's it. I'm done."

Loved it when Kate kicked all the assassin's asses at once, and then later when Razer died, it was kinda gross but still funny at the same time.....

I wonder since Roland is gone, what is going to happen in Hugh's next book with Landon....although now that I think about it, from what I understand from the ending anyone with a blood tie can visit Roland. So maybe Landon will still visit him cuz I imagine there is some bond there.

I realize this was a "Kate" book but no one noticed any of Elara's powers during the battle? Kate knows she's something else already.

I thought the book tied things off well, and we got to see most everyone. Yes Ascanio was only talked about and not seen, but his future situation was resolved.

I was mad at Julie not talking to Kate until I read the epilogue and see that she is worried Kate will keep blaming herself, etc. I still think its wrong that she just left like that. If she wanted to go, they wouldn't have stopped her. I hope Derek follows them. I don't see who else could be the boy mentioned in the epilogue could be besides High. His wife is brimming with magic, and since both him and Kate referred to each other as siblings, then Kate's grandmother would be his grandmother too and that's what Julie mentioned I believe...she's "his" grandmother too or something like that. Maybe Julie and Erra (and Derek) will pop up in Hugh's books..... I'm thinking Jim and Dali will at some point since they are waiting 6 months for surgery. I also liked it when asked why he would help Dali, Hugh just said "because my wife asked me to"

222868 Finished last night. I was very upset about Siaman. He didn't even get to go out in blaze of glory - they just found him and no one knew what happened. I get it not everyone gets to live. Honestly I felt bad about Adora but I was not as connected to her since she was a later character (and honestly I can't remember the details of character origination - I have to do a series reread). Her death was witnessed; we felt Kate's pain when she died. But Siaman got nothing. Just a mention afterwards. If he had died saving or protecting someone it would've been easier to accept; but not even that. I hope he does come back, but I for some reason doubt it.

222868 I wanted to do a Kate Daniels series re-read before the last book came out. Never did. Now the book is here. So of course I started reading it. I figure I will still do a full re-read of the series anyway and I couldn't resist.

I'm about 20% in and I have a question about the new book so I'll pop over the spoiler thread....

222868 I read 3 more Miss Fortune books, then needed a break. I did enjoy them, but didn't want to overdo it when I felt my enjoyment lagging. I will definiiely go back to them.

So I read That Guy That Guy by Kim Jones which was recommended by 2 Goodreads friends. Not usually my type of book, and when I started I had my doubts. But so glad I stuck with it. A bit over the top and ridiculous at times and the h could be annoying at times, but she was more funny that annoying so I just went with it and had a great time with this book. If you need a light, fun read and a good laugh give it a try....

I haven't been able to find any good historicals lately, so glad to hear The Governess Game is good. Looking forward to it!

I am a little grumpy from a book review on a favorite author with a new release because I was reading every review ( no more than 20) and getting a good idea of how good it would be from various points of view. (the grumpy part: got half way thru a review when the entire plot of the book was given away-- no spoiler alert was given., Why ... Why ruin the story that way.!!)"

Ah Frisco, I hate that! Happened to me not too long ago. I was skimming reviews for some reason trying to be careful not to see anything too specific and BAM in the 2nd sentence was a huge spoiler. I was so disappointed. Right now I can't even think of the book but it was one I had waited to come out. Another time some puts right there at the beginning about a main character dying!

222868 I've been reading the Search & Rescue series by Katie Ruggle. Overall a decent romantic suspense series. The first book was my favorite because I loved the h. She makes appearances in later books too, which is awesome. I'm on the last book now, where everyone will finally find out who the killer is. In Safe Hands In Safe Hands (Search and Rescue, #4) by Katie Ruggle . I had some guesses on the killer but the author did a pretty good job of making a couple of different characters possibilities.

Then I will finally get to the latest Dorina Basarab book Shadow's Bane (Dorina Basarab, #4) by Karen Chance Shadow's Bane. I kept wanting to start it but I wanted to finish the Search & Rescue books to see who the killer was. And now that the person has been revealed I want to see what happens.

My local library e-books I am seeing JR Ward new releases available. I stopped reading the BDB years ago. Has anyone kept up with it? And do you think the new releases are worth giving another try? "

Shannon I didn't love a couple of BDB books (The Shadows for one) but The Beast totally hooked me. I couldn't put it down. It really renewed my love for the BDB series and now I can't wait for he next one again. Feel like the old days...

Also JR Ward has a new series starting about firefighters. I think the first book is consumed coming out 10/2. Consumed

The prequel novellas are free:
The Rehearsal Dinner part 1 out now
The Reception part 2 - to be released - available for free preorder on Amazon

I know you all love this series/author but I had to force myself to read a lot of these. The stories ideas and characters were great, but the writing style just grates on me. I don't remember what my last book was. The one when the legion shows up, maybe?

222868 Finished Hold Your Breath Hold Your Breath (Search and Rescue, #1) by Katie Ruggle which was pretty darn good. It was romantic suspense but it had a ton of humor in it because the h was pretty snarky and goofy at times in a fun way. It was not over the top and her POV was just fun. I didn't really get what experience she had to join the dive team though - the book just starts with them at dive training practice and later on its mentioned she used to dive in the tropics but nothing was revealed about any search and rescue experience. It was a mostly volunteer dive team so maybe anyone can join? So that kinda through me a bit with the way the book opened. But I did love Lou and her humor. The next book is a different couple so I'll check it out and see if the other books are as good, but the h in this one was what I enjoyed....

222868 Finished Slaying It and it was pretty good. Nice "in between" novella before the new spin off book comes out.

I had nothing lined up to read next so did a little kindle roulette and randomly picked Hold Your Breath Hold Your Breath (Search and Rescue, #1) by Katie Ruggle which I believe I got as a freebie a long time ago. I thought it was going to be romantic suspense, but turns out its funny with a snarky h. Which is fine by me. In fact I kinda needed that right now. So I am enjoying but its still early.

222868 Well, I finished the Virgin River series. Overall I enjoyed the series and would give a 3* - 3.5* for the series as a whole. A few individual books got 4*. Most books seemed to have that one or two things that were just a turn off (like an H or h not being very likable), and a few had some low key lecturing on social issues. Still, I was engaged enough to keep reading and it was a long series. Maybe I should've taken a break, the last 2 books got 2* from me.

I may try her other series after I've had a good long break. Anyone who has read that can you tell me if that guy in the 2nd to last book - Coop? - if he's in the next series? He had the friend they were waiting for that ended up being dead and he was going to check out what happened? I assumed that was a lead in to the next series.

Just started Slaying It.
