Generally, if it is a dark story I want it to be damn good. Call me biased :)

Several people on Grace Dravens Fb page have been saying I need to read the Tairen Soul books by C.L. Wilson, I have all 5 of them (gift from Fogarty a couple of years ago I think ). Anyone NOT think they are great? Getting a lot of hype and just want to get an idea from you folks.

Well in a similar vein I have had a copy of
Cajun Crazy by Sandra Hill and back when I was reading her paranormal series I noticed that the release schedule a few years back got delayed by several months. In this book she reveals in the opening authors comments that her husband was in a horrible car accident about 4 years ago which has left him wheelchair bound and how they are keeping a positive outlook on life.
I should mention that I am only at chapter 3 but so far it looks like a great book but while it can be read as a stand alone there are a lot of cameo appearances from characters from previous books and her other series.

Well finished
The Wallflower's Wicked Wager and it was good but not great, the story moved along pretty well but then suddenly the ending felt rushed and short on details. I did enjoy it but it falls into that elusive category of a great story that I wish a better author had written , Kerrigan Byrne could have made a 5 Star story out of this :)

After the 12 Princesses I was in the mood for a good book so I dug WAY BACK in my TBR for a book that somebody (or several somebodies) had recommended and started
The Wallflower's Wicked Wager and it was boring .... for about 10 pages then I can't get enough of it :) Hope it continues this good

Read
The Twelve Dancing Princesses and loved it as much as all of the "Timeless Fairy Tales" series. You can read almost any of these solo but there is a small overarching plot that makes it better if you read them in order (with the exception of book #6 which should be read first IMHO) BUT before any of them you really need to read the exceptional Snow Queen duology of
Heart of Ice &
Sacrifice in my All Time Top 10 :)
Vanessa wrote: "Doug... Where did this malware problem come from? ..."Somehow Malwarebytes programmers (from reading I have done) actually blacklisted their own servers which sent the program into a loop and kept eating up your RAM until the machine crashed/locked up. They had it fixed in about 2 hours but the problem was that many people could not get their machines up and running good enough to update the program. I had to do an end run in which I used SERVICES.MSC to stop the service so I could use REVO Pro to uninstall the program and then download a clean copy and reinstall which is not as much trouble as it sounds. Everything is running fine now but they basically brought down every user they had who got the update with the bad code. The trick was you had to reboot and then get busy uninstalling/stopping the program quickly before the RAM was used up again. It was a good learning experience since it did not damage anything, I know how to stop any service that is messed up in the future :)

I had a book I had accepted for review that I really wished I had not because the story really did not appeal to me and the heroine kinda sucked for the first 40% of the book I thought, was almost a DNF but the story (she is being stalked by somebody) just kept getting better and she is finally tolerable and I can see an HEA down the line but glad I kept going, turning out to be really good if you like mystery and suspense with your SEAL romance (actually retired SEAL) using the MUCH overused "buddies form a security company" background". It is a stand alone and will be released on the 30th and you don't have to read book 1 unless you want to so that is always nice since I did not.
Final Siege

Anyone besides me get caught in the Malwarebytes fiasco today? If you computer is/was crashing they uploaded some bad code and had it fixed within an hour or 2 but some could not get their machines up to the point to update LOL What a mess

Well because I am talented, I had doubled posted a comment and went to remove it and removed somebody else post instead (I have no idea) so if you can't find a post that would have been right above this one, accept my apologies :)

@Sharon -
Treasure of the Abyss was excellent and I can't wait for the next book

Well Wicked Scribes posted that the next (final?) Charlie Davidson book will be titled "Summoned to the Thirteenth Grave"

Earthsea is a bit more mature

re : Le Guin's Earthsea books - I loved these as much or possibly more than the Lord of The Rings but I cannot remember enough to say what age group might be required.
Sharon wrote: "I am glad you are finally reading them Doug, I thought they were great.."I spoke to her via FB chat and she basically said she was still writing it, hope it does not take too long to get the next one. It put me in the mood for a bit of violence so I grabbed this one, loved book 1 so this is book 2 of this spin-off of the Kutherian books
Blockade: Age of Expansion - A Kurtherian Gambit Series

Kewl that
Three Wishes is FREE to everyone, I highly recommend anyone grab a copy for your TBR for those times you don't know what to read, light and entertaining but as I mentioned it is more contemporary romance than paranormal except for the parts where the genie actually is dealing with her. A great book that gets you thinking about all those "what-ifs" in your life :)

Well I went to bed still reading
Elusion and it was phreaking great and I grabbed book 2
Ascension and started reading but I kept getting woke up by the sound of my Kindle hitting the floor, I am restarting it today. Elusion was dark for about 50% of the book but the rest was great since it was tinged with a bit of revenge (my favorite) but it seems she has some "higher calling" and I am really curious to see what it is, she spends most of the second half of Elusion helping people who are being abused by others. Great stuff for my revenge junkie.

Several people have said this was a really good book
Elusion and it HAS captured my attention but I did not realize how DARK this book was going to be so far (about 1/3 done)

@Melindeeloo - re: 3 Wishes - It was a good change of pace, I did not have to scan any but it was more contemporary romance than paranormal, but I enjoyed it other than a small bit too much navel gazing but the synopsis for book 2 of the series does not appeal to me so I will let it go with book 1 which I really did enjoy. She did a really good job of not letting you know what the ending was going to be.

Well just finished book 5 in this series and I really do give high marks for books 4 & 5 and I pre-ordered book 6. Book 1-3 might be just as good but I started with book 4 and nothing is lost plus I think it starts the story arc for the Abbott Brothers (the first 3 seem to be about some other males) . If you would like some contemporary romance with a bit of drama and a sex level that does make you feel like porn but definitely not for under 17 this is a perfect solution. Only a small bit of humor but good romance and drama (the good kind). I also love that I don't have any need to back up to those first books since the synopsis just does not call to me.
