I loved her stuff but she took off for a couple of years I think and I would have to back up to book 1 to get back in sync, got books 1 & 2 and maybe 3. Another in the "someday" pile LOL

222868 Well I caveat this post with the fact that some of the best books of the year will be coming out before years end :)

I just finished The Voodoo Killings and if you like great paranormal mysteries with almost no romance (several platonic relationships but most of them are with dead people LOL) you will love this, it is actually one of the best things I have read this year even though it was written 2 years ago and the next one will be released in Jan, I corresponded with the author a bit and seems like some personal problems and business ones resulted in the 2 year delay but since book 1 was not a cliffhanger but kinda like the best series where they wrap up the story and then leave you with a hook that you can't wait for the next book. She sent me a dead-tree copy and either my eyes have gotten worse or I just forgot how small the print was and after a few chapters I was getting a headache. The only downside is since the book comes from Canada publishing it costs like $10 on Amazon, I went to Kobo and got it for $5 since I had never bought anything there and I got a $5 discount and then went through some horrible procedures to get it to play on my Kindle and was wishing I had paid the damn $10 plus it results in such a huge file my normal Kindle Keyboard would throw-up every time I tried to load it but my Fire tablets did just fine with it. I wrote all this to say it was REALLY good and if you can afford the $10 it is worth it or see if your library has it, I loved it. Now to write a review ...

White Trash Zombie series is pretty much a complete series, it is fixed that way in case she does not come back to it but she made it clear it would be at least 2 or more years if she did.

222868 I am not sure how many of you might have read this A Meddle of Wizards but it really was excellent but she is releasing a second book and looking for reviews so if you have a Netgalley account request it A Muddle of Magic (link below)

I am a sucker for terminally ill person gets a new life so I am not sure I would tell you to get book 2 without reading book 1. She now has huge magical powers in this new land and no clue how to use them.

NOTE: This is Lexi George of Demon Hunting in Dixie writing under a new name in the fantasy genre.

222868 There is no date yet on when the Netflix series based on The Bridgertons might actually air.

I am reading Most Eligible Billionaire which is the predecessor to the The Billionaire’s Wake-up-call Girl which was almost 5 Stars but this one so far seems a bit less but that could change since it has a lot of things in place that can change quickly.

I was offered a copy of a book called Lipstick Voodoo by the publisher and it sounded interesting but it was book 2 in a series and book 1 The Voodoo Killings: A Kincaid Strange Novel was 2 years old and cost about $10 (something to do with her Canadian publisher) so I wrote her and told her I was interested in reading/reviewing her new book (which actually does not release until Jan 2019) but needed a copy of book 1 before I would commit to it (and being a bit cheap I was NOT going to pay $10 for an ebook about zombies) so all she had was paperbacks so she is mailing me a copy of book 1. Sounds like her zombies are more along the lines of Diana Rowland's My Life as a White Trash Zombie (since she consulted on those books that makes sense) which means they are pretty much like normal people with a few powers as long as they get some brains along the way and since Ms Rowland's zombie books are on an extended hiatus I wanted to check these out.

222868 I can tell you I am not a fan of books with:

A lot of crude language
Too much casual sex
Any type of BDSM
People prideful to the point of stupidity

and yet this book did all of those distasteful things and probably a few more but I still loved it. I consider that alone almost enough to give it 5 Stars but will probably leave it at 4 since I thought after all the buildup the ending was a bit rushed in comparison but thanks to those of you who recommended The Billionaire’s Wake-up-call Girl

222868 NOTE about The Bridgertons series, the new ones with 2 epilogues have spoilers in those epilogues and so if you really don't want to know who married who, you might wait until you finish the series to read them. She wrote them sometime after she had finished the books. You might be able to read the first epilogue without problems, that 2nd one is the far into the future one

222868 I finished An Offer From A Gentleman: The 2nd Epilogue and it was great but kept me up until 2AM reading which was stupid on my part since I will need to be at the hospital tonight to see the new grandson. I need to go 1-click Romancing Mister Bridgerton (With 2nd Epilogue) , this series is costing me more than I have spent in one month in about as long as I can remember (or at least as long as I have owned a Kindle)

222868 Call us bad grandparents but we made it plain to all the kids years ago, we don't babysit ... EVER. We worked for 40 years to raise them and pay for college if they wanted it and now you are on your own just like we were. We paid for trusted childcare anytime we did not take them with us (which was damn rare LOL).

222868 Well I think I may be hooked on the Bridgertons also, just bought the 3rd book An Offer From A Gentleman: The 2nd Epilogue and plan to start it tonight, roofers coming tomorrow and the daughter decided to schedule induced labor for grandchild #6 (her first) and is mad at me because I can't be there until later tomorrow night. Life is never dull around here LOL

222868 Vanessa wrote: "I decided to take a chance on the Roomba special deal. Does anyone here have one?"

I have 2 we bought several years ago and while overall they are really good they are more of a light cleaning type thing, and they don't hold much dust/dirt but they do a GREAT job keeping my floors clear of pet hair BUT they have problems with some black rugs with patterns (the sensors tell it they are nearing a dropoff ) and they will not clean that area. On smooth floors where pet hair is most visible is where they really earn their money, they have little brushes that allow them to clean right up to the edge of the walls also.

This article describes the problem and the fix BUT don't use this if you are going to use the Roomba next to stairs or any drop off (it will drive right off the edge)

222868 I read The Duke and I and loved it so I read another one of the Heaven Sent - a Quincy Harker Novella which are becoming a guilty pleasure and now I started on book 2 The Viscount Who Loved Me (With 2nd Epilogue) which I am finding as good or better than book 1 and I loved this scene

I tend to love sentences like this, our hero's brother had set him up to dance with a woman who despised him -

"Anthony glared at his brother, then for good measure at Miss Sheffield, who was looking at him as if he'd just despoiled ten virgins in her presence""

222868 Well I got everything I had hoped for so far in The Duke and I I am only at the 24% mark and have laughed more than anything I have read in weeks :) For my enjoyment a historical romance has to have a few things:

Humor
Romance (obviously)
Some bit of drama or action
Witty banter

this book seems to have them all and I am just getting started :) Brainless heroines are not appealing ...

222868 re: Death Becomes Her is a book that if you keep reading the series takes vampires and werewolves and slowly changes the genre into a science fiction spave opera, I loved it I read all 21 books in the original series and he does a great job of entertaining IMHO. The Vigilante: Age of Expansion series is based on one of the characters in that series but knowing the background helps but is not required.
