222868 I decided to buy book 2 of the Murderbot series to read later and read Sinister Magic which also looked like a winner with no chance for a bad book. I have put off reading Blood Heir until may the next book is out from comments I have read here.

222868 Finished All Systems Red and now can't decide if I want to go to the next one or try a different genre. It was amazingly good, close to 5 Star territory but recently I don't seem to do those obsessive "read the whole series" marathons LOL like I used to do

222868 I was not sure what I wanted to read today so I grabbed one that some of you said was really good, can't say anything much yet but it sure does start with a bang :)

222868 Well for those like me who believe this book will never be published, it has been moved to Oct 2021, I have had it on preorder for almost 4 years

222868 I hope I like them as much, 1700 pages is a long time to keep my attention, so far very few other than Mark Lawrence can do it :)

222868 I wanted a change of pace and not something that felt like something I had read before so I grabbed this one I bought on sale months ago and I was just about to decide to set it aside and grab something else and it got a little better, then it got better still, and I am still reading it LOL. I hope it can keep my attention since it is a 4 book set.

The Blades of the Rose Bundle: Warrior / Scoundrel / Rebel / Stranger

So far I am liking it but we have a long way to go

222868 Yes, Stranger in My Arms was a true 5 Star effort, she threw out a few red herrings that had you unsure of our hero up to the very end. Excellent ending also

222868 After 2-3 books full of murder and mayhem (which I enjoyed) I grabbed Stranger in My Arms which is well written and hopefully as good as the reviews make it sound but I am not sure I can remember any book of hers that was not close to exceptional. I read Schooling the Duke a few books back and did not even bother writing a review, it was 80+% unfriendly and uncomfortable with an excellent ending that took less than 1 chapter, I doubt I will bother with the rest of the series.

222868 I loved the Bridgerton books but what little I have read and seen about the TV series makes me think they have ignored most of the books and used only a bare bones and not done it very well IMHO. I think I will stick with my fond memories and reread the books if I wish to be truly entertained by these characters

222868 Well somebody here had recommended Go Dwarf Yourself and I loved it, our "hero" is hard to like but by the end of the book you understand him a lot more and the story has a great ending. Now I got to go grab the next in the series

222868 Ok, I started Christmas Kringle: Silent Night and did not put it down until I had consumed all 93 pages (seemed like a lot more) and it was great. Somebody stole Santa's sleigh and he is pissed and also Santa gets replaced every few decades and this one used to be a mercenary who is trying to atone for his past but his old skills are now required (and a light touch that reminds you of the Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews). So consider it Die Hard: The Kris Kringle Edition :) Yippee-ki-yay

222868 Well I finished Judge, Jury, & Executioner Boxed Set (Books 1 - 4): You Have Been Judged, Destroy The Corrupt, Serial Killer, Your Life is Forfeit and really enjoyed it, one of those you might not remember next year but was fund while reading, I will probably grab Judge, Jury, & Executioner Boxed Set (Books 5-8): Slave Trade, Fratricide, The Art of Smuggling, Dispute since they are cheap fun entertainment. Fast reads when you want to read something that can keep your attention without having to really concentrate :)

222868 Don't know if everyone got this but Amazon is doing away with comment on reviews which seems like a bad idea since many times I have used the comment function to help someone (and yes there have been a flame war or 2 in past years)

"You are receiving this email because you recently left a comment on a review.

While reviews and feedback are important to our customers and sellers, the comments feature on customer reviews was rarely used. As a result, we are retiring this feature on December 16, 2020.

We are committed to your continued success and will innovate and develop other opportunities for you to connect with customers.

Thank you.

222868 Well since I had never really looked up what "The Ton" was all about here is what I found :)

"The ton" is a term commonly used to refer to Britain's high society during the late Regency and the reign of George IV, and later. It is a French word meaning (in this sense) "manners" or "style" and is pronounced as in French ([tɔ̃]). The full phrase is le bon ton meaning etiquette, "good manners" or "good form" – characteristics held as ideal by the British beau monde.

The term le beau monde (pronounced [bo mɔ̃d]), literally meaning "the beautiful crowd" (but here meaning "fashionable people," or "fashionable society"), was similar to le bon ton during the nineteenth century.

"The ton" has also been used to refer to the Upper Ten Thousand of later 19th-century society, including most of the peerage, aristocracy and wealthy merchants or bankers of the City (of London).

222868 Well I got this for 99 cents for the 4 books Judge, Jury, & Executioner Boxed Set (Books 1 - 4): You Have Been Judged, Destroy The Corrupt, Serial Killer, Your Life is Forfeit
and it is one of those where the writing is not exceptional but the story kept my interest and it was almost non-stop action with some humorous character interaction. I have read 2 of them and will keep reading so it must be at least decent :)

That is the thing, I have read several books this year based on the premise that was offered in the synopsis but the author did not deliver on that premise, that is what I was wondering about was this story really entertainment or something to "raise my level of enlightenment" . I am looking to be entertained and not "enlightened" in my reading

222868 I finished Ten Things I Hate About the Duke and loved it but as good as it was it could not compare to the combination of wit, chaos and humor that the first book A Duke in Shining Armor had so don't be expecting a repeat, this is more of a very strong willed woman who is being pursued by a duke who is pretty dislikable but is willing to do whatever it takes to change and have her find him worthy of her attention, Done well and the ending was amazing
