It is a 5 Star book but the thing that is killing people kinda turns them into green slime as they die (hence the "goupy disgusting parts" description :) ) You really don't want to start this series anyplace but book 1 since this is one of the few heroines you will read about that really grows in knowledge, skill and strength of personality with each book.

222868 It is a great story but sex as a filler never has appealed to me

222868 Finished A Touch of Stone and Snow and at 400 pages and throw out the 100 pages of useless sex and it was a great book.

222868 There was a lot more to Rick's story than was revealed in the Jane Yellowrock books, I despised him but you find out a lot of things in this series that makes you understand what happened, things are never as they seem. Turns out he really is a good guy but it is a long story woven into this series. His torture and story in the Jane Yellowrock books was detailed in one of the novellas or collections which gives you some insight into his mental and physical state the last time they saw each other. The Soulwood books are exceptional and don't require you have read the JY books but it does help, they will still be exceptional reading without reading anything before this series.

222868 "Spells for the Dead " was so freaking good that I cannot enjoy "A Touch of Stone and Snow" which i KNOW is a good book but it seems so lackluster after "Spells for the Dead" (Which I gave 5 Stars)

222868 Since Amazon keeps a record of all my books and I can download them at any time I tend to delete any books I have read from my Kindle

222868 After reading about those of you who said Shadow of Doubt by Hailey Edwards I grabbed a copy and it is wonderful. Started out kinda slow but picked up fast and the humor is great. Hope the rest of the series is this good.

222868 Now that you mention it my autobuys are down to Ilona Andrews, Kerrigan Byrne, Patricia Briggs, and Grace Draven although I have to say I seem to be buying almost everything Jeffe Kennedy writes but I love the overall stories but they tend to drag in places. At the same time I have to say that I have enjoyed everything I have read by Tessa Dare, Lisa Kleypas, and Julia Quinn.

Julie Anne Long used to be on that autobuy list but it seemed like after finishing the Pennyroyal Green Series it took her awhile to get her talent back but the current The Palace of Rogues series seems to be excellent after only 2 books

222868 "everything written about Lazarus Long"

I had forgotten about him, wonder if they have finally put them all together, it was near impossible years ago to figure out all the books he appeared in

222868 "I did read books by Robert Heinlein growing up."

So did I and all those military based stories I loved then all of a sudden out came Stranger in a Strange Land and I was like what the hell is this??? It was a big jump in my reading preferences because while being silly in places it gave voice to a lot of serious ideas. I really think it may have been the first book I ever read that talked about sex and more adult ideas.

I read it also and enjoyed it more than I expected and I did the same thing, read this book 3 first and no real problem.

Yes, if you read that teaser on the book's page you will have to read the book just to see how things work out :)

222868 I have been looking for "that book" that would make me wonder what was happening when i was not reading it like those really good books do and so this was a 5 Star read for me and it is not new and it is book 1 so hopefully there are more good books to come in this series. Best of all it is on KU

222868 I just finished A Dark and Stormy Knight and loved it by the end but it dragged a bit in places, great ending but one of my lesser favorites in an outstanding series

I got to get some more reading done :) She wrote one of the stories I have in my All Time Top 10 books , it is really 2 books, the third is just some random stories. The Snow Queen was beyond exceptional IMHO

I finished it last night and while I really did enjoy it I can tell the difference between her books published as an indie writer and this series from a large house publisher using their editors and it is not for the better IMHO. Obviously it is not bad but doesn't have that "I can't put it down" appeal. I may give it 4.5 Stars for a great ending (loving each book so far as no cliffhanger and great ending). I still feel there is something missing when I compare it to the Wraith Kings series.
