Lulu and Vanessa - Kid 1 had a lot of choices, mostly up North towards the Bay area, so far enough away that she won't be able to come home - unlike K2 who is an hour away. Kid 1 has some focus issues, and tends to freeze up when she is overwhelmed. I am worried about her being isolated and not getting support/help if she needs it. She is smart and I want her to succeed - going away might be great for her if she can keep it together.
I am just a worrywart and the trip sort of freaked me out. Both schools we looked at were neat while totally different. San Jose State is large 35,000 students and urban and compact, and Cal State Monterey Bay is sprawling, in a pretty area away from town and has 8,000 students.

Lulu and Elizabeth,
It's kind of sad how many of our old must buy authors have fallen by the wayside.

Back from a checking colleges trip for my oldest - very stressful. I started listening to
Wicked Abyss and yikes, there isn't much story to go with the smexy stuff and I don't remember the other books being this way, or maybe it's just more noticeable in audio - I think I've done all the other books in print or Kindle -or maybe I'm just getting old.
I also read
Paper Stars which was a cute short in Monk's Ordinary series - it has me wanting the next full book and more of Myra and Bathin.

I broke down and added the romance subscription to my audible, and read the two Jill Mansell's i hadn't read before. I really enjoy these but they are pricey on kindle so I wait for sales - there's normally quirky Brits,a friend group and 3 or four HEAs.
You And Me, Always turned out to be one of my favorites - I really liked the main leading lady. The second one
Three Amazing Things About You was very sad - organ donation leads to some of the HEAs.

I finished two audibles in two days - a record for me.
Lake Silence and
The Myth Manifestation. I liked both. I do have to say that having the same reader for this latest others book, made it so that Vickie felt similar to Meg - just Vickie's issues stood in for Meg's innocence.
(view spoiler)[Bishop sure makes me bloodthirsty, i always end up wanting the bad humans to get eaten - too bad the husband survived (hide spoiler)]

I gave it 3 Stars and apparently that was..."I pretty much agree with your review. This was fine as a going back to your small town roots opposites attract contemporary romance, but Hunter's stories normally have a touch of the unusual - even in her contemporaries.
(view spoiler)[Plus, I think that i needed a bit more angst from Ox earlier, when he's off helping his family - he's just too altruistic, it would have helped to see some worry about his business and missing Emmie earlier along with the hate he has for ranch work later. Also his intro was weird, not too many normal girls (and ridgidly controlled ones like Emmy) wouldn't have had some qualms about him with the two street "scenes" with Ginger no matter how hot he was. (hide spoiler)] I did like Emmy a ton and all her bookish tshirts - and her friends were fun too. I will definitely still read the next story to see more of them or Ox's sister.

I am also working on Prudence..."Yes, Prudence is the daughter and her friends are the children of her mother's best friend ivy. So far this one has been very slow to get going, the finishing school ones were more YA but the leading lady was always into some mischief so I thought they were more fun

I finished reading
INK: A Love Story on 7th and Main, it was cute, but sort of trope-y. No paranormal bent at all.
I am also working on
Prudence in audio, so far it's not really grabbing me - I like the lady spy/finishing school series much better.

I enjoyed
Tricks for Free, but I liked the Carnival setting of the previous book better than the behind the scenes amusement park setting of this one though and I really missed the mice - sacrilege to have a Price with no Aeslyn mice.

I ended up reading instead of listening last night, so I read
Marriage of Inconvenience, i have really been looking forward to this Penny Reed book - she's had so many teasing snippets up and this pair has had a 'thing' sizzling in the background for a while. I liked it but the heroine has issues that put a bit of a damper on the sexy times initially. I do love Dan though and his mom is great.

I did
Burn Bright in audio, very unusual for me to finish an audio in one day. It felt short, but I enjoyed it. I actually felt some sympathy for Leah, what a surprise.
Over the previous couple days I listened to
Grunge and
Monster Hunter Memoirs: Sinners - someone described them as Monster Hunter International fan fic and they pretty much were, but since they used the original reader i was okay with that. Don't know if they'd have worked in print though.
On to
Tricks for Free

Someone on the Kristen Ashley Facebook group had mentioned Sterling Shore as being like KA Ro..."That' s kind of the same conclusion I came to when I was looking for more wacky from her too.

I knocked out two audios -
Conspiracy in Death and
Louisiana Longshot both were good. The in death wasn't as disturbing as the last couple and the Miss Fortune was pretty cute.
I also read
Bayou Born which I liked - its the start of a new series and cool because it had unusual paras. If the 2nd book had been out, I would have continued straight on. Instead I nabbed the first of one of the author's other series to read after I finish
Murder on the Sugarland Express
LAB☺ wrote: "I finally finished the Vampire Empire trilogy. I gave each on 3* but have kinda mixed feelings. The ending was ok but there were a lot of things not tied off, at least to my satisfaction. There was..."If you do find another wacky one let us know, I tried looking before and couldn't tell

From Lukov with Love second best, though leading pair's bickering is pretty childish to start - I just love figure skating so that bumped it up a above
Kulti for me. Kulti seemed to be everyone else's favorite Zapata (many liked kulti more than Wall of Winnepeg) from the discussions we were having last week.
Vinity wrote: "The Wall of Winnipeg and Me was fantastic. I really didn't think she could redeem H but she did. I'm actually going to do an immediate re-listen. I read it first time but I found it..."This was my favorite of the 6 books by that author that I read last week. I'd be interested in hearing about what you think of the audio version, because I did it in Kindle first as well.

I read
The Kingpin of Camelot because some of you rec'd it, it was an oddball mashup of characters from all sorts of fantasy 'verses but it ended up being pretty cute - True Love and building the family of the heart when the one of your birth lets you down made the the story for me.
Paula wrote: "I wish there was a way to remove a book that you have on your currently reading list on GR. I do not like marking a book as unfinished because I wasn't in the mood...."You can remove it from your shelves altogether if you are using the desktop version of goodreads. There is an 'x' at the end of the entry when you find it in your shelf. It will ask if you want to delete it altogether.
The other thing I've done is added other exclusive shelves. One for dnf and one for finish-later. You do that via the edit shelves. That way i can keep track of the book and i won't forget that I've tried it.
(I couldn't get into #Starstruck either )

Well I am about 70% done with
Under Locke and have been thinking about dnf'ing this since the half way mark. The h is weepy and does not smart things - she is nothing like Zapata's other strong heroines - and the h with his anger management issues and possessiveness seems like a future abuser - again nothing like the other self controlled Heroes in the other books. Also too much MC emphasis in the background, I'd like more of the tattoo artistry.
