222868 I finished up the Virgin River shorts that were not available in audio. The one with the vet and the puppies was the best - probably since this couple's HEA was continued in one of the other books that ihad already listened too. The worst was Sheltering Hearts which was clunky and unengaging. Overall I came to the conclusion that these are superior in audio, the reader's performance really fleshes out the characters. I don't think I would have marathoned the series in print - or paid the print price for all the books.

I might give the first Thunder Point a try too, after a short shifter break. Does this series have the same kind of connections within the town?

I feel the same way. I've been vacationing in Virgin River for two weeks now, it will be sad to leave. I'd love to stay at Jillie's place:)

The local university gets many highly qualified applicants and the state schools like foreign and out of state applicants because of the bottom line - they pay muchhhhh higher tuition. kid 2 didn't get accepted for transfer there even with straight A's since there were just not enough spots available (they even warn their own undeclared students that they need a backup major because of the strong possibility of not being able to switch in)

Kid 1's major isn't offered at the two closest schools to us, so she was looking at having to go farther away - but she did actually get a late acceptance at the local university in a similar major and my husband did a very thorough comparison of her options and if all goes well she can finish the similar degree in much less time so it looks like she will go there and get to live at home.

222868 Still on my Virgin River marathon in audio, some are better than others and tbd resolutions to some of the tough problems are a bit easy, but I am attached to the town and it's people.

I had heard this about the novella, but Frannkie's story is supposed to continue in Ain't She a Peach?, people were irritated too and had said to wait.

222868 Still churning through Virgin river in audio, liked the heroine in the Christmas story alot. Was a bit disappointed with Paul and Vanessa's story - she irritated me when she got mad at him for her perceptions when she wouldn't even let him talk. (just like Vanessa said) I still liked him and I liked his friend Joe - the guys in this series are so great. It was fun to see the General' s romance starting. Lots of drama around the edges this time.

Now I am on to the next.

222868 I am liking the Virgin River books, I finished book 2 - love Preacher, I much prefer these tough but caring guys looking for a partner in their women to the uber alpha guys we often get in PNR. And I like the ensemble and the woven stories. Lots of tough subjects in the background though. I peeked ahead at the blurbs and now I am all worried about young Rick.

I guess I always worry about doing too much - being a 'helicopter parent'/ 'hover mother'. At orientation for my previous transfer student, the housing guy had a more positive spin on that, he called it 'air support' :)

Thank you all for your comments, I feel better.

Thanks for the pep talk, I am sure you are right. I probably have done too much smoothing for my kids, but they are great people.

222868 I've been trying to make use of the Romance add in to Audible and tried two friends to lovers -normally a favorite trope for me. These were okayish but I wouldn't recommend. Always My Girl not enough of friends first and didn't really get attached to the leads and Unleashed again not enough of the friends part and way to much smexy times.

I am going to try Virgin River next since you all have been mentioning them. Any other audios from the romance thing I should check out? I am finding that simmering or a tad above is where I prefer audios - even though I can handle more in print.

I am on the fence about keeping the package - i think UF and fantasy make better listens

Looks neat. You have one going soon or who is getting ready to apply? Mine needs to figure out who to accept, we didn't do the trips before applying.
