In audio, I just started the Cast In series (
Cast in Shadow ) There are about fourteen books and some of the middle ones are in the audible romance package. I like the reader and the story is interesting, but I am getting a bit impatient - and wishing they were cheaper in kindle (or available through the library as an ebook), because then I could find out more quickly what is going to happen ...
I found a book with a really pretty cover on KU
so I may try some of her books.

the wait list was very long. I said to myself go for it and kindle edition arrived promptly. I..."Frisco, I am interested in seeing what you think of trail of lightning, the reviews seemed a bit mixed. Sorry that Tsumiko didn't work for you. It was a gentle, more fairytail-isih fantasy read and that doesn't always work for me either, but I like Kitsune.

was very good, I am looking forward to the next one.

I've been branching out and reading oddball stuff, i normally stumble on some hits but the last couple have been meh

ORION and

I just finished three
The Curse Keepers books. They were pretty good in audio (i think in kindle they are KU) only two biggish minuses - love triangle and the fact that the series isnt finished with no book 4 in sight (apparently the author needs the rights to revert so she can self publish since the publisher only wanted 3 books)

1.5 speed isnt bad, you get used to it quiclky and it gets rid of those annoying pauses that I just dont have patience for - some readers i can do a tad higher. Chipmunk speed is for when i get bored and just want to see how things turn out in lieu of dnf-ing.
I am a fast print reader and when I tried listening at regular speed I was not impressed, now I am hooked - it is great to be able to do a book while I am doing other things Instead of just being a lump on the couch.
I second most of the authors suggested
I also like Gabra Zakman (Poison Study for one)
Khristine Hvam(Daughter of Smoke and Bone)
Johanna Parker (SPI files and Raine Benares)

Anyone else excited for the iron and magic audio ? I am going to do a reread when it comes out. the new male reader sounded very promising. I am glad they decided not to use the regular reader for Hugh - I enjoy Raudman for the most part but her Curran and Mad Rogan are all wrong.

Girls weekend sounds like fun:)

I "third" the love for
Marked - a very enjoyable Alex Verus installment.
I have three or four other books going right now, all are decent but I am just in the mood for "something amazing";)

Of course, I thought they were all amazing. They are on her blog but she says she will ..."When I saw the email for this post I didn't realize that the story beginnings where there to read. Being earlier writing, the stories did start rougher then IA's current stuff, but what was there in the two I read (the two non SF ones) would have kept me reading to find out how things turned out...

I am listening to alex verus/ Marked an it is good so far.

Thanks all, but my bday is on prime day ;) guess my weird sense of humor didn't make that clear....

Douglas wrote: "...the book I bought for $3 is now $10 ????..."I've been noticing that there are a lot of kindle books that have crossed the $10 mark - I've been disappointed to see this when checking out rec's here - it's a pain point I won't cross unless the author is one of our favs like Briggs or Bishop. I don't like this trend, when even 6.99 was enough to make me pause and think below clicking.

I just finished
Unlit
and I second Doug's recommendation (thanks doug). It was very action packed, it is the first of a series of standalone fantasy romances by Keri Arthur with magic, and monsterous enemies. (It does have Arthur's trademark highly sexual heroine and this one doesn't stick to one gender as a FYi. ). It made me want more and to want to check out her backlist - I did get fatigued by her Riley Jensen series and constant lusty thoughts - but some of the other series sound interesting and at least one is in the Romance package
