I liked Draven and Bouchet's stories in
Seasons of Sorcery: A Fantasy Anthology. The Gin Bianco story was ok - I just am not an assassin fan. I didn't read the Kennedy one because it's connected to a series I haven't read and in previous anthologies the stories really haven't worked as standalones.

Right now I am listening to Jeaniene Frost's YA Broken destiny series
The Beautiful Ashes - the first two books are in the audible romance package. Not earthshatteringly awesome but decent enough to continue to book 2.

To be honest, if I were reading her boo..."I decide I couldn't do her in audio anymore for that reason - dramatic adjective overuse.

I read
Wilder, I didn't like it as well as the first ones - maybe the female wild ones were easier for me or maybe I was put off by the BYOB ( bring your own buck) and the ' herbs'. The H does.have a sweet side, but the crazy parts with the side characters were even more manic...
I just started the new SPI files in audio,

I really really enjoyed Diamond Fire, Catalina is going to be a good follow on to Nevada, and Rogan's Mom is a great addition too - hurray for momma dragons!

(Vanessa good luck to both you and hubby with the recovery)
I just finished
Shades of Wicked and enjoyed it, I am 'over' vamps so I waffled over reading this but am happy I did. I agree that it was odd that veritas was the narrator but I guess it kept some of Ian's mystique. I didn't really expect quite so much redemption for our wicked leading man though. I didn't really think it was too cliffhanger-y, since the epilog straightens thing out a bit. I look forward to the next. Oh and I loved the pet:)

I liked
To Catch A Rogue, it was good to get Lark and Charlie at last. Looking forward to Malloran's book - I imagine he's going to be a bit screwed up after events in this one.
I have also been taking advantage of my Audible romance package and have been working my way through Donna Kauffman's Blueberry Cove series (
Pelican Point) I like small town romances and these are set in coastal Maine, they are a bit meandering but good to listen to while walking. I picked them up because Amanda Ronconi - she normally reads Molly Harper's vamp/were books- reads the second trilogy and she brings a nice sense of humor to the performance. A warning though, she does what is probably a pretty bad Aussie accent in the final book of the series.

I finished my 'reread' of Iron Seas, I enjoyed
Heart of Steel and
Riveted even more this time, but
The Kraken King was still my favorite.
I also picked
Kill the Queen back up and finished it, it was pretty good once the stressful beginning was over.

Thanks for sharing the news about a new one from Zapata ..."The only one of hers I couldn't read was Lingus, the beginning at a porn convention was just too in your face - I didn't make it in the front door.
Bittersweet sounds good, and it's in the audible romance package - yay:)
HappyBookWorm2020 ..."Thanks for sharing the news about a new one from Zapata - I've enjoyed most of her books.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is my favorite.

Speaking of rereading something that I know will be good, I just did
The Kraken King (listening this time since its part of the audible Romance package) - really good still. I remember waiting for the episodes when it was originally a serial, the anticipation then was good and the instant gratification now of being able to read straight through is good too.
I enjoyed this so much that I got the audible of the
The Iron Duke - the world building is so good (though Kraken King is a much more satisfying romance)

These are also favs of mine that I reread when I want something that is quick and good along with my other fav shorts of theirs -
A Mere Formality and Grace of Small Magics in
Small Magics (jt was also in another collection they did with Jeaniene Frost and Meljean Brook
Under Her Skin)

I enjoyed Lionheart too, poor Robyn.
Well I've started two audiobooks and had to set them aside for a bit because they are adding to my stress level.-
Kill the Queen an
Muse of Nightmares - I think they will be good but I need something lighter. I think it's rom com time. Now I need to find one.

I've been listening to contemporary romances - the audible sale made me do it -
Come As You Are had awesome leads, loved them both the female lead was vibrant and the male lead was nerdy smart yet not a real nerd and a great guy. Her books have a quite bit more smexy stuff than I prefer now days but I have been really happy with the way she develops the non physical part of the connection between her pairs.
Now I am in the middle of
The Kiss Quotient which is also super smexy - but the hot stuff is more integral to the story. This has an odd but interesting heroine and another kind patient hero - she is a higher functioning autistic and he is working with her on her 'relationship' skills. I think some of you mentioned this before but the kindle edition was pricey - it was just added to the audible romance package this month.
Douglas wrote: "Well one big question that seems like I am stupid ...... what IS she? I think that is the missing part that is frustrating me that I can't remember, obviously has something to do with the 4 Horseme..."My memory isn't perfect but
(view spoiler)[She is Conquest, and her sisters are Famine, War etc. They are some high level demon race that travel through to a new dimension and then destroy the world they travel to. She is the one who can open the portal so she goes first with her cotery (minions). In order to travel to Earth she had to wrap herself in a human form, but for some reason she lost her memories when she came here and was separated from her minions. She was found in the bayou and the police man who found her ended up adopting her and she became a cop. She reconnects with her minions when another woman is found in the same spot and in the same condition - naked and with strange marking covering her body - but this one remembers their purpose. Her minions aren't loyal out of choice but are bound to Conquest by some deal that she fulfilled in some warped way, the main one is some kind of flying shifter - dragon maybe- and he's been her bedmate, and hates and is attracted to her. Actually they all kind of hate her and distrust her amnesia and her new kinder personality (hide spoiler)]

Ferromancer it's not KU though. It is loanable though if you are interested, you can pm me if you are and if loans work across countries...

doug - have you read the Colin McCool books? I think it was you that mentioned them. I think I tried the first. if you did, did you like them and does the series ramp up as it goes?

I was going to start
Dog with a Bone, but this caught my attention and it was decent - a am a sucker for steampunk/magic mashups - here the magic is ferromancy (metal magic combine with soul stealing) and the setting is the river system around Ohio at the time that trains are starting to replace barges for transporting goods. The lead a female boat captain.
Vanessa wrote: "melindeeloo... Have you read the second Foundling book..."Yes, I liked it and the way things are developing, looking forward to the next one. Have you?
