I just started gobbling my way through Haley Edwards Black Dog series - I'd collected a few of them on sale quite a while back - I am enjoying them as much as her other series. I just started the series yesterday and I am on book 4.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, hope it's a happy one.

I read
Luna and the Lie too, both of the leads were broken. There is a lot of hurt and self talk from the h, she is admirable on how she is trying to be positive about her life after coming from a horrible childhood. I liked it ok but it's not my favorite of Zapata's. It's KU so worth it for that, but not a keeper like Wall of Winnepeg.
In audio I am still working on
The Black Prism - I probably shouldn't have done this in audio because it is sooooo long.
On Kindle I've been reading xmas anthologies

out of my 268 books this year - with 160 in audio -my favorites were
Magic BindsPhoenix UnboundShadow HuntStorm of DesireIron and MagicThe SerpentThe Wall of Winnipeg and MeDark QueenNight and Silenceand series I binged on
Iron Seas - great even as a reread
Cainsville
Poison Study, Soul Study and Glass series
Thunderpoint and Virgin River
Cupcake club
Brides/Grooms of Blueberry cove
Clockwork Dagger
Jesse James Dawson
favorite new authors Mariana Zapata and Hailey Edwards

This is another series tha..."I do like her Necromancer series, and her Fondling series - I plan on trying more by Edwards

I liked
How to Live an Undead Lie, I love Linus - magically powerful and smart and yet so vulnerable. I like Grier so much and her pack.
Paula wrote: "I keep reading the blurb for Cursed and it just totally seems to be a fantasy book. Completely unlike Unlit. I bought it but I feel like I don't know what I'm getting."it's set in the same world as Unlit - that was fantasy too - but there's no character crossover.
I just finished it and liked it. I like Arthur's Lizzy Grace series too and that's more UF/contemporary fantasy (set in Oz but not in a big city)
Douglas wrote: "I finished Cursed and loved it, like book 1 this can be read as a standalone, the only connection is the world (I think) since they are so far apart there is no connections at all, ..."Thank for mentioning Cursed, I've been waiting for it - i liked the first one
Unlit. I'm 30% in, and so far it is good
Vanessa .." I read the Mrs Polifax books way back when (high school or junior high) I remember them being fun

I finished the 9th Kutherian book and am ticked at the death of a main character - and the epilog that appears to not have him coming back?
Douglas wrote: "Finished Death Knell and am really not happy with the way things ended, I would have liked it if this was the end of the series, instead is seems to be a prelude to a lot of innocen..."That's sad, I liked the last two books enough to buy this one instead of trying for an ARC.
I plan on reading it in my next Kutherian break - I am on book 8. I am still less thrilled with the infrastructure building my eyes glaze over on the rocket team parts - but the action parts are good.

The last instalment of Sweep of the Blade is up
http://innkeeper.ilona-andrews.com/20...So those of you waiting for it to be finished can indulge now:)

I been doing lite and cute, I read Doug's rec
Madam Love, Actually and then another of the author's books
Lilliana Jones and the Temple of Groom. The author has a few more of these romcoms that are KU, so I will probably do a few more next time I need a palate cleanser. I also read 5 books out of Mary Frame's imperfect series the first one was rec'd by Penny Reid for Nerdy Romance lover's,
Imperfect Chemistry, I'd read it a while ago and decided to try
Picture Imperfect since it was free and enjoyed it enough to read the one that followed it and two preceding. These two were my favorites though.
Now I am back to vampire sci fi - it's the promise of nano enhanced dogs that did it - and I am not even a dog person.

I am almost done with book 4 of the kutherian books, I am probably going to take a break - i am a bit saturated with all the infrastructure building and with the addition of the 'navy' and the AI team there are a zillion characters to keep track of, although taking a break is going to make that tough...

I read the first two yesterday, book 1
Death Becomes Her was really rough to start with jumps between tons of different characters, but book two was pretty interesting with the set up of the team. I started three and debated buying the omnibuses - since they are all KU right now - but decided I could give the author 6 bucks for 18 stories. I wonder if he'd get more from KU ?

though they do have a run in with another demon
and Vincent finally kisses hattie.
the search for the hell pincher continues and there is a bit of info added.
hattie meets the person sending her notes.
Vincent gets sent to reconditioning and there are torture scenes - but I do think it will cause an interesting shift in his thinking
(hide spoiler)]I enjoyed this but would I have read them all if they weren't KU? I don't know. I like when magic is added into different time periods so the prohibition era was a hook for me. I liked the way both use their magic and the magic is significant to the story. There is supposed to be 6 books and if the next is also KU, I will read it. I would give these 3.5 stars 'I liked it' (4 is 'I really liked it' and 5 goes to the very few books that are so good I would read them again)

I am enjoying another KU find,
Wooden Nickels is the first of three out so far. Prohibition era with magic. The two leads are decent, one who can bend light and runs booze across state lines while hiding her magic and another who can halt time and who is literally owned by his mob. There is a hint of romance to come - I am on book 3.

Melindeeloo, thanks for recommending Annette Marie! I just tried these two books:
[bookcover:Three Mages and a Margarita|3967..."I did:) Ghost/Zack was great. I hope to see more of him.

(Shannon and Happy - I like finding KU goodies:)
I am pretty happy with the audible romance package. I listened to the first two Baba Yaga books from way back when (
Wickedly Dangerous and wickedly something else I can't remember right now) both were decent though frustrating - one had the villain telling lies to ruin the mc'c reputations and in the other taking advantage of the h's insecurities)

i enjoyed
Dark Arts and a Daiquiri - i thought it was a good follow on to
Dark Arts and a Daiquiri and it's KU too. I like the sassy human bar tender holding her own in a world with mages. She surrounded by a bunch of hot guys but it doesn't look there will be triangles or reverse harems at this point .-
