222868 Hi guys:) You all have such great recs and are so helpful when people are looking for something new to read. So I thought we could capture our favorites by taking advantage of a group feature - group book shelves. (I wish we'd had this when everyone was doing their favorite reads of 2017 because there was lots of good stuff)

I added some group shelves to the forum: one for uf favorites, one for pnr favs, one for steampunk favs, one for sci fi romance favs, and one for historical romances favs.

I think only the mods can add shelves but all of you can add books to the shelves by going to the bookshelf link in the upper right of the desktop version of this page -i haven't checked for mobile.

Lets us know if you'd like anymore shelves...contemporary romance?
Subcategories like... dragons? Shapeshifters? Vampires?

I completely agree. Plus his version of the characters were bland.
And the sound editing for him had weird bit where you could tell that lines from different sessions were cut in.

222868 I've been looking for some new Uf and found this Ruby Callaway: The Complete Collection on sale for .99 ( the first book of the bundle, Lightning Blade, is free on KU). The first story was pretty good, it had a Time Loop ala Ground Hog Day as the framework in a future world with supernaturals and Ruby is a supernatural bounty hunter. This is apparently a spin off of another of the authors series.

222868 Fans of molly harper pnr in audio, there's an audible exclusive How to Date Your Dragon , i thought it was fun - though the mystery was obvious. It was odd to have two narrators for the two POVs. I would rather of just had Amanda Ronconi do the whole thing like normal. On the whole the multi-narrators don't work for me unless there is no character overlap.

I know, right:) Less is more now days, I still do like a bit but have always preferred a bit sex with the story instead of a bit of story with the sex. So not the tossed in stuff, but where there's a purpose - to move the relationship/story forward.

222868 I am mixing things up. I finished Etiquette & Espionage - a parisol progtectorate world YA - i enjoyed this in audio. The finishing school for spies is a fun framework.

I also read a overly sexy contemporary, Hot Shot, where the lead was a hot shot/smoke jumper. I didnt like the voice of the first person POVs and while the description of the wild fire fighting was educational, just having all of that near us recently pulled me out of the story - but I have even more respect for the firefighters who risk much to keep us safe.

222868 I am in total agreement with everyone on Storm of Desire - it was great and I cant wait for the 'evil' prince's story.

I also read Three Wishes and it was a cute light read.

222868 I got an arc of the upcoming Scarlet Bernard Shadow Hunt, boy was it good. I loved that author Olson used people from both Scarlet's and Lex's part of the world and some nice things happen at the end. The main plot was action and peril packed. Its not out til February though.

I love Kaleigha's site - she used to post on the old amazon forum. Thanks for the list, there weren't too many series that I haven't come across. But lots that i had forgotten that I followed in the past.

222868 On my search to find new UF, since I've exhausted our old a list favorites, i started reading Cainsville book 1 Omens. Anybody read this? Or listen to this? I got the first on kindle on sale, but the rest are over my pain point 9.99 so i was thinking of switching to audio. The book has a very odd feel - author calls it gothic - but i am curious about the fae bits in the background and the leading lady is interesting.

It was confusing how they fit together - jumping back in time to tell stories of characters that you seen on the side - and really drawn out, the rewrite books were releases over many years. But the originals were definitely a bit of setup wrapped around a couple explicit sex scenes. Way more explicit than anything I'd read at the time - but main stream pubbed romance has moved up a couple notches in heat level since those days, so I am not sure they would stack up now.

I thought you had read them too. The originals versions Lulu mentioned were Eloras Cave quickies, smexier than the later rework into the Others stories.

222868 Affer our discussion about bird shifters, i did a reread of The Wicked, i still got a kick out of seeing Khalil and Grace in the background. Makes me want to read Oracle Moon again.

I also read A Meddle of Wizards, i know you guys who read the ARC liked it, but while I did like all the different characters - especially the giant, the troll sorceress and healer/captain. I thought the story was a bit of a muddle, it didn't feel like it was 'going' somewhere. I did like the harry potterish scene in the Sorceror stone shop.
