I picked this from Rachel Caine's backlist,
Devil's Bargain - I thought it was pretty decent with a supernatural element to it and a touch of romance. There are two books in this series and this first one sets up the PI partnership between two women - one a former cop and one former special agent - who are strangers brought together by a mysterious organization that funds their business with the only caveat that they take on occasional cases for the organization. Each of the books has a different one of the women in the lead. I already clicked on the second one
Devil's Due.

Many of you mentioned
Spiked, so I gave it a shot and ended up reading all three books and the novella back to back. So thanks for the rec - even though I stayed up too late finishing late night and am hating myself now as I get ready for work:)
I liked the mixed group of shifters in her town and her bakery and the way her powers develop and the oddball group of friends she gains. I think it will be interesting to see where this go, the author's site says she has 2 more books planned.

Crown of Darkness by Bec Mc master is free right now

I saw that too. Yay! Ben deserves a HEA.

Okay, I read more it looks Escape is being replaced by Audible plus and that at least some of the previous Audible escape titles are available - supposedly with out the extra subscription price if I read it correctly.

I just got a notification that Audible escape will no longer be available starting in November D: I used it quite a bit and tried things that I would never have spent a precious credit on.

I gave
Magitek a try, the character, her magic talent and the world were promising, but I just couldn't handle the case since it involved human trafficking - including teens - and mutilated victims. I really liked the author's Rosie O'Grady, so I felt bad dnf'ing this but I am finding that gruesome and heavy are too much for me these days.
So on the lighter side I enjoyed my ARC of
In a Holidaze which had a well done time loop - the h keeps jumping back to the start of her Christmas vacation with friends/family - and a very sweet scene near the end of the book. It was the leaves you feeling good at the end book that I needed right now.

I finally got to finish
Plan for the Worst - parts made me mad at a certain character, but wow I wonder if the author had some of the major plot points planned all along. I hope this isn't the last Max book.

I thought I'd mention
Flame's Embrace: An Australian Bushfire Charity Anthology proceeds go to help with the fallout of the fires in Australia, I haven't started it yet but there are stories from Bec MacMaster, Seanan McGuire and others.

(I was on a quest to move up the reviewer ranks at one point, so I appreciate the amount of time and reviews it takes to move up to such a lofty position - and to keep from losing ground). Enjoy you time at the top - you've earn it:)

Finished
Emerald Blaze - turned out I preordered both the kindle and the audio by accident but it worked. I mostly did the kindle because I read fast and needed to know what happened, but I didn't have to stop while making dinner - i just switched to the audio. I was surprise about some of the wrap up and by the cliffy of an epilog. I thought the whole thing was really good, I will probably go back and relisten to the whole thing, so not at a mad rush for the second time through. It is really interesting to go to the spoiler thread on the Andrew's blog, some people keep better track of the details over the course of the series and have interesting theories - I am much more of an in the moment read, but it makes me want to do a series reread.Blaze

I thought I would start
Emerald Blaze today, but I was reading
A Touch of Stone and Snow and couldn't put it down. Even better than the last book.

Oh my,
Emerald Blaze is out tomorrow - I was thinking 9/25 for the release but its 8/25. I signed up for one of the virtual book tours this week, I always envied those of you that met up at one of the real life events.
