N.L., nice haul with those coupons. Borders does pretty good in that regard.

That's one place I do not go to buy my books. :-)

I let Borders suck me in again with their coupons! I used a 50% off coupon plus an extra 10% off for being a Borders Rewards member to get
for more than half off.

and I see it is a trilogy, guess I will have to go buy the other two right?"Well of course, a true collector never settles for only having parts of a series or set, right? :-)
For example, I found one book of
Madelyn Alt's Bewitched Mystery series at Half Price and just had to get the rest of them. I've completed that with
The Trouble with Magic that arrived from Thriftbooks yesterday.

I have to say I really like how I started this month. I decided to pay the $20 to get the Gold membership at Borders, so with that extra 10% off plus a 33% off coupon I had PLUS $5 worth of Borders Bucks, I was able to buy $7.99
for 33 cents. :-)

Last month of the year, how will you end it? :-)

You ask why? Because with your purchase this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4 and 5 at Borders, you'll receive a $15 gift card to make a donation on DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy to help students in need through school donations.
You're going to buy books anyway, right? Why not do it and be able to make a donation to a worthy cause too? :-)

I read and reread in phases too. Sometimes I'm in the mood for urban fantasy and I'll read a couple of that genre, after a while I'll switch to a some mysteries, then maybe some historical fiction, and so on. My shopping doesn't really follow this pattern, though, but that's because I know what I do like to read and sooner or later I know I will be in the mood for certain books so when they come out I buy them whether I am in the mood at the time to read them.

Normally I don't like to shop on this day because the stores can be so crazy, but Half Price Books has me tempted with their 7-10 AM 20% off sale planned for tomorrow. I'm an early bird anyway, so I might just head out for that, but nothing else. How about you?

This turned out to be a nice weekend. I got my Thriftsbook delivery and I used $10 worth of Borders bucks to get two books FREE:
Encyclopedia Brown Cracks the Case and
Encyclopedia Brown, Super Sleuth

In the past I very rarely if ever gave up on a book, but in the last year or so my TBR list has grown so much that if I find I just cannot seem to be getting in to a book after an hour or so of reading I have no problem dropping it to pick up another. I'm a quick read, so if I find I haven't gotten through the first hundred or so pages after an hour, I'll usually drop it, but if I find I've read more than half the book, I'll keep going.

I actually walked into Borders with a coupon and walked out empty handed. I actually stuck to my shopping list. My goal was to get
Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here by
Christine Warren which was supposed to come out Nov. 2, but neither of the Borders in my area has it yet. That is REALLY annoying, lately they have not had a book I am looking for when it is supposed to be out. Has that happened to you much or is just my area?

[bookcover:Sports Illustrated:..."Thriftbooks is an old favorite of mine, another true enabler. In fact, I plan to visit soon to make use of the 15% off coupon I got for there for my birthday.

Here we are at November. So what purchases are you going to be giving thanks for getting this month?

I just picked up
from Borders with a 40% off coupon.
