22225 N.L., nice haul with those coupons. Borders does pretty good in that regard.

Yeah, Michelle, I learned long ago that auctions are a dangerous place for me to go to buy anything. I have a real hard time stopping bidding. That's one place I do not go to buy my books. :-)

22225 I let Borders suck me in again with their coupons! I used a 50% off coupon plus an extra 10% off for being a Borders Rewards member to get Trio of Sorcery by Mercedes Lackey for more than half off.

Some good titles there, I really liked "Speak" and "North of Beautiful."

Well of course, a true collector never settles for only having parts of a series or set, right? :-)

For example, I found one book of Madelyn Alt's Bewitched Mystery series at Half Price and just had to get the rest of them. I've completed that with The Trouble with Magic that arrived from Thriftbooks yesterday.

22225 I have to say I really like how I started this month. I decided to pay the $20 to get the Gold membership at Borders, so with that extra 10% off plus a 33% off coupon I had PLUS $5 worth of Borders Bucks, I was able to buy $7.99 Silver Zombie (Delilah Street, Paranormal Investigator, #4) by Carole Nelson Douglas for 33 cents. :-)

22225 Last month of the year, how will you end it? :-)
22225 You ask why? Because with your purchase this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4 and 5 at Borders, you'll receive a $15 gift card to make a donation on DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy to help students in need through school donations.
You're going to buy books anyway, right? Why not do it and be able to make a donation to a worthy cause too? :-)

22225 Over the weekend I picked up from Borders: Hex Marks the Spot (A Bewitching Mystery, #3) by Madelyn Alt No Rest for the Wiccan (A Bewitching Mystery, #4) by Madelyn Alt Where There's a Witch (A Bewitching Mystery, #5) by Madelyn Alt and at the public library I found an old childhood favorite on the used book shelf. I still have my original copy, but it is in terrible condition, so find this one was great: ""Big Bird's Busy Book"

22225 I read and reread in phases too. Sometimes I'm in the mood for urban fantasy and I'll read a couple of that genre, after a while I'll switch to a some mysteries, then maybe some historical fiction, and so on. My shopping doesn't really follow this pattern, though, but that's because I know what I do like to read and sooner or later I know I will be in the mood for certain books so when they come out I buy them whether I am in the mood at the time to read them.

22225 I did something I will never do again. I went to a store on Black Friday. Oh brother, I could not believe how crowded the place was! I got to Half Price fifteen minutes after they opened and there were wall to wall people. I did find a couple of nice items, but it was not worth the rush or the crowd. I added to my collection: A Charmed Death (A Bewitching Mystery, #2) by Madelyn Alt The UFO Phenomenon (Mysteries of the Unknown) by Time-Life Books Transformations (Mysteries of the Unknown) by Time-Life Books Secrets of the Alchemists (Mysteries of the Unknown) by George Constable

22225 Normally I don't like to shop on this day because the stores can be so crazy, but Half Price Books has me tempted with their 7-10 AM 20% off sale planned for tomorrow. I'm an early bird anyway, so I might just head out for that, but nothing else. How about you?

22225 This turned out to be a nice weekend. I got my Thriftsbook delivery and I used $10 worth of Borders bucks to get two books FREE: Encyclopedia Brown Cracks the Case and Encyclopedia Brown, Super Sleuth

Lizz, don't feel bad, it took way too long before it clicked for me too. :-) lol
22225 In the past I very rarely if ever gave up on a book, but in the last year or so my TBR list has grown so much that if I find I just cannot seem to be getting in to a book after an hour or so of reading I have no problem dropping it to pick up another. I'm a quick read, so if I find I haven't gotten through the first hundred or so pages after an hour, I'll usually drop it, but if I find I've read more than half the book, I'll keep going.

22225 I went on a real nice book buying binge today, and I didn't pay full price for anything, I had coupons everywhere! :-)

At Half Price Books I picked up with a $10 gift card and for 40% off the lowest price and 10% off everything else: Big Bad Wolf (The Others, #8) by Christine Warren High Stakes (Vegas Vampires, #1) by Erin McCarthy Cupid Doesn't Flip Hamburgers (Adventures of the Bailey School Kids) by Debbie Dadey The Grilling Season (A Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery, #7) by Diane Mott Davidson Death at Epsom Downs (A Victorian Mystery, #7) by Robin Paige Death at Bishop's Keep (A Victorian Mystery, #1) by Robin Paige Silhouette in Scarlet (Vicky Bliss, #3) by Elizabeth Peters

At Borders for 33% off I got Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here (The Others, #10) by Christine Warren

And I ordered from Thriftbooks.com for 15% off: Dead Man's Ransom The Ninth Chronicle of Brother Cadfael by Ellis Peters The Immortal Game A History of Chess, or How 32 Carved Pieces on a Board Illuminated Our Understanding of War, Art, Science and the Human Brain by David Shenk Missing You (1-800-Where-R-You, #5) by Meg Cabot An Unthymely Death and Other Garden Mysteries by Susan Wittig Albert The Demon You Know (The Others, #3) by Christine Warren Born To Be Wild (The Others, #9) by Christine Warren She's No Faerie Princess (The Others, #2) by Christine Warren

22225 I actually walked into Borders with a coupon and walked out empty handed. I actually stuck to my shopping list. My goal was to get Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here by Christine Warren which was supposed to come out Nov. 2, but neither of the Borders in my area has it yet. That is REALLY annoying, lately they have not had a book I am looking for when it is supposed to be out. Has that happened to you much or is just my area?

Thriftbooks is an old favorite of mine, another true enabler. In fact, I plan to visit soon to make use of the 15% off coupon I got for there for my birthday.

22225 Here we are at November. So what purchases are you going to be giving thanks for getting this month?
Oct 28, 2010 03:59PM

22225 I just picked up Harvest Hunting (Sisters of the Moon, #8) by Yasmine Galenorn from Borders with a 40% off coupon.
