Trying to stay positive, but I think venting might be the best thing right now. I have been feeling overwhelmingly discouraged over the past few weeks. It seems that no matter how much I do and how many great opportunities I get, at the end of it all I am still just sitting here...spinning my wheels and not getting anywhere...

That is a great article Carole! I'm planning to pick up your chapter books for my oldest daughter. She is only 4, but has been reading some early chapter books with my husband already. If she's not ready yet, I am sure she will be soon. :)

I can't imagine how hard it is to be an editor. I write simple children's picture books, and I wouldn't even publish those without running them by my editor first. I agree with Amy, having feedback on things like that is invaluable and helps ensure that you are providing quality work. I would much rather hear feedback from an editor first before hearing it from reviewers.

Aislinn, I am sorry sorry to hear that. It is so much work to get things lined up. That really sucks. I am not real familiar with promo sites and the ones I have been looking into are children's, so unfortunately I don't have any other recommendations. Wishing you the best of luck though. So I was recently per pressured into creating a Twitter account by some of my fellow authors in this group. ;) And by they way, I am glad I did and that I have a new opportunity to connect with potential readers. However, I am feeling a little lost. I have figured out how to tweet, reply, retweet, etc.

What I could use is some suggestions from more experienced Twitter users on what type of things to tweet, how often, how to use hashtags and things you have learned over time.

Also, are there any cool ways to use Twitter for giveaways?

I figure that there are others in this group who may be in the same boat, so I wanted to create this thread. I feel like there was an older thread about hashtags, but I couldn't find it. If someone knows where it may be could you please give me the link? Any personal suggestions or even recommended articles are greatly appreciated! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
