This isn't necessarily funny, just a fun fact I guess. My character for my forth children's book was inspired while coloring with sidewalk chalk with my daughter. She asked me to draw an animal and when I was done it hit me. Book 4! I took a picture on my phone and have used it as inspiration while working on my book.

I love all these tips! Great thread!

I didn't click this article to read it again because I do not want to give it anymore hits and increase its popularity. If you have not clicked it yet, I would highly encourage you not to as it will just bring more visibility to the article. I ran across it when it first came out and loved one of the comments someone had made. Her article is basically saying the same thing as telling a street musician that since they don't have a record deal, they are not a real musician. Very true. I love groups like this because they offer help to other indie authors and increase our professionalism. I would highly encourage new indie authors to 1. Get an editor and 2. Join a support group and take advantage of the great resources that are provided by fellow Indie authors and readers.

I recently did an interview with Jessica and just wanted to say she does a fantastic job! The interview was easy, fun, and beautifully published. She also has some great videos for indie authors on her personal blog that you may want to check out!

Welcome Grady and thank you for reaching out to help indie authors!

I have heard lots of good things about Facebook launch parties. I haven't done one yet but am considering the idea. Many authors do author takeovers where other authors who write in the same genre run the party in 15-30 minute sections. I have heard some authors do giveaways of their books or even a $20 gift card drawing eligible to everyone who buys a copy of their book. I have seen some authors who say they didn't have many attendees, but that it was a still blast to connect with readers and they would do it again.

I was actually just speaking to a local German teacher about this book and she is very excited for it to come out! She teaches k-8th grade and your books are perfect for some of the younger ones. I love this series and my daughter has been enjoying it too.

I also just read
If You Were Me and Lived in...China: A Child's Introduction to Culture Around the World by
Carole P. Roman. Fantastic interactive way to introduce children to the history, architecture, language, foods, and culture of China. I enjoyed it as much as my kids and can't wait to read more of these books. One of my new favorite educational children's series!

I read
Obsessed by
Alex R. Carver. Very good read. I highly recommend this book to any fan of mystery or short stories!
Carole wrote: "I never thought of those- great idea. Got the address- I'll send out a few books."I think the kids would love your books. :) The average stay for a family is 3 months before they get set up with jobs and new housing so they have a lot of families that come through there during the year.

That is a great idea! Some community libraries have limited budgets too. I have donated to some of the smaller town libraries in my state. Another great place to donate is homeless shelters, especially ones set up to help families. Here is one that serves homeless women and children (birth-18 years) in the St. Louis area:

It's not a charity- I am paying for all of the items going in as well as the..."Thank you very much Carole! I am very inspired by your support for other indie authors and appreciate everything you do.

Hello everyone! I write children's books that can be used to increase speech development or to be read strictly for fun. :)
