Books only show up as being read in 2014 (and, if you are doing the 2014 Reading Challenge, only count towards your challenge) if the "date I finished reading this book" field contains a date in 2014.
To check if you've set the date:
1. Navigate to the book's page.
2. Within the "My Review" section, click "edit review" on the bottom right.
3. Check to see that the "date I finished this book" is filled in with a date from 2014. If it's blank, add one and save. If there is a date, and it's still not being counted, contact us via this page: https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...
Thanks Julia, Kelley, M.Lynn, Christina and Jeff for providing lots of good advice too!

Shouldn't this be done in January of 2015…for 2014 is not over, yet…and I am still reading books (hoping I finish at least one more…if not two).
Arathi wrote: "It's been a very eventful year in terms of reading. I have tried to read more genres and more diverse set of authors. It's been a year of trying to move away from my comfort zone."I love your attitude, Arathi! I'm going to try to do the same in 2015. :)
Despite the fact that the year is not over and I just started a new AMAZING book(Push by Eve Silver), this been an AMAZING reading year. Probably the best because I got into avidly reading about a year and a half ago so I read most of my current faves this year. Happy 2014!

For me it means when i had some extra money left to buy book. Or when someone lend me their book / or read it by rent. 2014 is not a very good year for reading (at least for me). Even though is still do my best to read in this last 8 days of this year. Will do better next year, i promise.
This was not the best year for me and the books were the only silver linings in my clouded life.. I have found out an amazing author Katie Alender. I read all three books of her trilogy "Bad Girls Don't Die" in ten days - not as fast as I wanted, but still..
Also I was totally amazed by Jenny Downham's "Before I Die" and John Green's "The Fault In Our Stars". I cried a lot after reading these two books..
I hope, that next year will be way more better and I will more and more interesting books..

Well I know somebody who reads a lot, but they are all thin books around, 100 pages. I can finish those in a day as wel ;) For me the same, a job, basic household and doing groceries for my grandparents. But I read every evening before going to sleep. I finished since the summer (june) 53 books. And I'm going to finish a small one tonight :)I have a average pagenumber of 300 per book. But some of the books I read don't have page numbers listed here, and since I'm also having audiobook, I don't know them either so those are not counted ;)
Mariann wrote: "when i share "My Year in Books" to my Facebook feed, my friends click on the link to see the books and they get a "Sign Up to Goodreads" page. I just want them to see the books. How can i fix that?"Hi Mariann,
Thanks for the feedback. We have addressed the issue so any of your friends who click on your Facebook feed story can view your year in books on Goodreads without having to sign up.
Happy Holidays!
I still have 7 books to read before the end of the year to reach my goal of 100. My year is definitely not over yet.
It's been a good year for reading for me. I've read 16 more books than last year. I'm on my last book of my reading challenge, and I'll probably be able to squeeze in one extra by the end of the year. I also kept up my aim of reading more non-fiction this year. So I'm feeling pretty proud of myself.
Bill wrote: "I had my best and busiest book reading year ever...I read 250 books this year and really enjoyed almost all of them."Where do you find the time? I'm happy to read 4 books a month.

This was a great year in reading for me. This was the first year I ever knew about this site and I LOVE IT. I read more. I haven't read in ages and I wanted to read more this year and I did. I have 2 more books to go for the challenge and I will get it done. I won 5 books through First Reads and I never win anything so THANK YOU SO MUCH. I plan to read more in the coming year and to read at least 5 Classics that I have never read.

Same here, I really wanted to share my list but there are no sharing buttons... and when I try to copy and share the link it just appears as a link to my GR profile. Maybe those buttons will appear at the end of the year?

I planned to read 50 fiction books during 2014 and my current tally stands at 46 with 3 started although there is one non-fiction included in that total.I've lost my reading mojo a little over the past couple of months but maybe by choosing carefully I can hit target over the next few days.
Wanda wrote: "It says I've only read 4 books in 2014. This makes no sense - I have way more on my list that I marked as read and have rated."you need to fill in the date when you've finished the book. It's around the edit review page somewhere.
It was a great year for reading, improved a lot by Goodreads (and english ebooks as I read few books in french this year).I enjoyed a lot finishing the Reading challenge, following or reading groups to discover new books and authors, and wandering around the review pages and recommandations. I met some pretty interesting heroes or stories and was very pleased with some writings.
So thanks to the Goodreads team for the nice features, to the readers for their useful reviews and to the authors for providing adventure, love and thoughts. Have a merry christmas :)
I finally met my goal of 81 books this year . I had intentions on reading 70, but over time I had enough time to read eleven more books. I'm impressed I had college courses, a job , and study sessions!!! On top of my passion for reading!!
Tracking my books definitely encouraged me to read more, though I obviously love to read either way. :) I was only working part-time this year and had lots of extra time to read, so I'm thinking I'll reduce my 2015 goal by a few books. But I'm already planning which books to put on my immediate to-read list.
Right now, I'm one book away from completing my 2014 goal, but all of the books I've started have left me uninspired to finish... gotta find that just right one.

I must have a very different version of the site than you do Aaron, because that banner and those options do not appear for me on my "Year in books" page. Whether I access through my desktop or the mobile version, no sharing options appear. A shame, as I'd really like to share this with my friends on facebook.

I managed to exceed my goal, however next year I have decided not to set any goals or participate in the reading challenge as I found that it took all the fun out of reading and made it feel like work. I know I can read 1 book every 1-2 weeks (depending on the length and how easy the book is to read), and I'm about to start Ken Folletts latest which will take a little longer, so I'm happy with that.
Sheesh... Here I was, read 29 books this year and feeling rather proud of that... and then there's folk that manage hundreds. I must be a very slow reader. Anyway, still happy I managed to exceed my target, read some awesome stuff (and some not-so-awesome), and will continue this next year :)

How is it possible to read more than 100 of books in a year? Where do you find the time? Or do you read the books that are less than 100 pages?

Because of school and everything I waited for Christmas to start reading all these books I've found since the summer. I'm driving through stories like crazy and it feels really awesome! Finally, my mind is settled. :)
GoodReads has helped me to read a lot more than I have ever done before.◙ Personally, the fact that GR allows me to set a target for myself and go about achieving it, ofcourse, there were couple of books that I abandoned mid-way as I found them to be a bit of drag, but otherwise, I have achieved my target of reading 20 books (20th book in 'read' status as of now, will complete it by this weekend.)
◙ Count of books really doesn't matter, but its a small trick to help one to keep the habit of reading a regular one.
◙ I am just wondering what would have happened if I had been using GR from the beginning (since my college days when I got access to internet), how many books I could have finished? How much time I could have saved by reading instead of indulging in purposeless activities.
◙ I tell myself that ..its never too late and take care in the upcoming years.
◙ For the Year 2015, I am doubling my target to 40 Books, And I am pretty confident that I will definitely reach this target.

Absolutely agree with Jen & others, count really doesn't matter, the knowledge & the learnings from the same does. Also imagine the amount of time usefully instead of spending the same on other useless activities, I cannot imagine any other useful way to spend the time than reading.
Its increasingly becoming difficult to find people with similar interests.
** The electronic gadgets are ruling the world now, and it is eating away our valuable time.
** Hope our posts on our reading experiences for the year inspires others to follow suit.
** Also I sincerely feel that seeing some of your posts, I am also inspired to go a level up (some people easily complete 50 or more books per year), read more, read quicker (without loosing the focus/comprehention.).
What are your feelings on the habit of reading & sharing the same?
Do you want to inspire people without this habit to follow you?
Reg: How to reach more books?
Actually it is very easy to complete a book within a week.
Imagine a book of average length of 300pages, ensure that you complete atleast 50 pages everyday/night. You can pick it up before going to bed or after waking up in the morning.
The above can be managed even if you have a tight schedule, like a 9-9PM hectic work schedule.
personally I catch up on my reading during the early hours & before going to bed. Also sneak in during my breakfast & dinner (not always possible if there are people/ family around to chat)
****Weekends - Ensure that during the SAturdays/Sundays, you complete double the mandatory quota of pages, like say 100 pages instead of 50.
I think following the above as a regular habit will help you to accomplish your goals easily.
** Sometimes when the content is too good, we over-exceed our daily quota, which is a added advantage.
Do you agree with me friends?

Actually I started reading a lot of young adult fiction because I teach teenagers. I found there were several benefits to this a) I could encourage tham to read more, b) we could discuss something other than just work, c) I could connect with them on something more constructive than TV shows and d) some of the books were actually brilliant fun to read.
I should point out that I teach science not English so we tend to talk about scifi books and the accuracy or lack thereof in the science and the ethics rather than the actual writing.
I also lend the students my books if they want to borrow them (if they are age appropriate)and some have even borrowed my university textbooks for projects.
165 out of 150, still going on 2 books I want to finish in the next week. 63,508 pages read. I pretty much have no life though, some days literally all I do is read.
Hi Tasha,Simply amazing 2 look at your stats, can u pls share some reading tips 4 achieving this target?
I c that u r reading a book every 2/3 days.....thats gr8 reading speed, how do u manage 2 complete it so soon, what r ur reading schedules.? pls share ....just eager to know them...
It's been an ok year... I read about 20 books, so it could have been worse, but still I'm not that proud or happy because a lot of what I read wasn't really quality and just chick lit or stuff I picked up cheap at used book shops.
@Marileo, u r right that reading cannot be a competition, and has 2 b a natural habit. But having said that it wud b a gr8 advantage to read quickly (at a speed where u dont lose out on the comprehention) so tht ur focus is completely in the book & basically u get lost into the world created by the book.
So thats y everyone is sharing their reading experiences & at the same time trying to understand each others habits & take up any good ones shared by any of them.
Life is so short, but thr r too many books around, it wud b wonderful 2 read as many as v can every year.
Pass on this msg so that more can know abt this amazing habit.
I have very few friends who r regularly hooked on to this habit, thats whn this gr8 online community came 2 my rescue.I know now, I m not alone............
Yay, I just completed my reading challenge: 52 out of 52 books read! :) Let's see if I can finish one more before the year ends.

I don't really know, I just read a lot and am a quick reader. If I get sucked into a book usually only sleep will take me away from it, and then only if my eyes are literally dropping. I read everywhere I can as well; curled up on the sofa, on buses/trains, it's not completely unknown for me to read while walking somewhere if a book has gripped me that much. I think sometimes I read like people breathe.

I read a variety of things and sometimes I need and want the fluff. Especially after I've read a taxing, book or one that I am supposed to like and then don't and I can't understand why so many people do. Anyway, reading (no matter the subject matter) is FUNdamental!

My stats show less books for this year than I marked as read and rated in 2014, too.
