2014 book counts shouldn't be done until Jan. 1, 2015... in my humble opinion! ;-)

In seeing some of the comments I want to add this that has been said by others. The challenge is not a competition, but a stimulus to keep one reading which can be challenging when life gets in the way. There are so many good books our there and I had a really good year with the ones I chose. I am making my own challenge for this year to read more non fiction and to get to books I own which get neglected as I have a great library. Happy reading to all.
25 books, exceeded my challenge... It was a rough start with my reading challenge, I was reading books but forgetting to add them to the challenge... There was some REAL stinkers in there....But good. Mostly good.
Great point Cheryl. Participating in this challenge is a great way to motivate us read more, and hopefully to explore other genres of books that we've not considered in the past.
I read some great books this year. Highlights were, "All the Light We can Not See", Anthony Doerr; "Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President" by Candice Millard; "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt; "The Luminaries" by Eleanor Catton; "My Promised Land; and The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel" by Ari Shavit. Met my challenge!
It's good reading year for me. Next year I'm gonna challenge myself to read books out of my comfort zone.

How do I get it out of my "currently reading" statu..."If you intend to go back to the book at some point in the future, just change the shelf back to 'To Read'. If you don't want to finish reading it, just remove it from your shelves altogether, or create a new shelf titled 'abandoned' or 'incomplete' or something like that.

OK, I was hoping for a hint ;)
This was my first full year on GoodReads - and I increased my reading to 43 completed books thus far - much more than in previous years. Thanks to GoodReads, I'm back exploring my local library every week, which is great fun. Best reads included The Odyssey, All the Light We Cannot See, The Goldfinch and The Signature of All Things. I always start the year intending to focus on history and classics, but contemporary fiction invariably reels me back in!
I am so proud of myself! I finished the challenge with 4 extra books, 104!! Bring on challenge for 2015!!!
really enjoyed one plus one... humorous but had a lot of gut feelings for characters. really didn't want it to end but ending was good. have read her other books and this one right at top!

I had it out from my local library, but had too many books and had to return it before I could get started. Have to move it up on my list. Thanks for the reminder and a great list of books - thanks for that as well.

I have 2 more short stories in
Rogues
to finish up with 22 books this year, 2 books over my goal. A good year for me. Some of the epic novels (Follet, Martin) take a long time.
Too bad it only allows you to share to Facebook/twitter/pinterest. I was trying to see if I could share the link on my blog. Maybe I just don't know the right way to do it.
So many books so little time. I wish I had kept a lpg of every book I've read. The number would be huge. How else can one travel through time and worlds of imagination. Authors are great artists of prose.

Ann wrote: "How can I find the stats page on the app?"I don't think you can. The app is really limited. I stopped using it a while ago, because it's missing so many features that I use regularly on the site.
I found it easier adding, rating and completing books using the Goodreads phone app - I didn't have to worry about setting dates as it automatically did that for you. All the books I read were added to the challenge as well.
I have achieved the 2014 challenge.I set a 20 books target & completed it yesterday.
I am planning to double the target for the year 2015.
I understand the count is least important, but that is the thing which encourages me to read more.
And the reviews & comments that I add in GR also inspire me to read more.
Hope all these continue during the year 2015 too.
My wishes to all others who have achieved your challenge....!!

Jutta wrote: "Can I save the list? Download it to my pc? Does anyone know?"First, make sure your list fits in one page (change the number of books per page shown to be more than the number you have read - see the dropdown list at the bottom of the list). Then save the entire page (Ctrl+S on Firefox - other browsers may differ).
Alternatively, you can export all your books in a .csv file (openable in Excel). Go to this link - https://www.goodreads.com/review/import - and click on 'export to a csv file. This will apply to all your shelves, not just the books you read this year.

yes,as far as reading is concerned I've improved much. And looking forward to have more goodreads in 2015 IA.

Thank you! I was wondering why my list seemed really small. haha.
I reckon that there has to be some miscalculation in the stats page. My copy of That Hideous Strength by C. S. Lewis certainly did not have 534 pages, and I read a number of books that were longer than that one.
Dafydd wrote: "I reckon that there has to be some miscalculation in the stats page. My copy of That Hideous Strength by C. S. You have to pick the edition that is the exact copy that you are reading or the page counts will be wrong. You can also add the copy that you have if in the other editions section the copy you have isn't available.
I had to do that for a few of my books.
Every year is a good year of reading ^-^Unfortunately, I barely have time to read, but once I start reading, nothing can stop me (oops)
This was my first to set a goal for reading - Reached and really enjoyed very much. Ready to try again, in 2015!
I decided in 2015 to give myself a real challenge... It took me no time at all to read 25 books in 2014.... So fifty books for 2015.
This is my first time doing this "challenge". I only read 32 books (and I challenged myself to read 30, knowing my limits). It was a fun year. I read what I most liked. I discovered Robert Rankin, whom I'm thrilled with, and also Lemony Snickett. YES, his are supposedly children's books, but they suit me as much as any morbidly curious and emotionally estranged child. The book I loved the most is East of Eden - what a masterpiece!
So, all in all, a good year even though I read little!
I'll challenge myself to read 50 in 2015. There should always be enough time in one's life for books.

I have one book that I have almost completed. I don't want to include it in the 2015 challenge because there will only be 70 or so pages read in 2015 out of 700 read in 2014. Is there a way I can exclude it from the books read for 2015? I don't think I will finish it in time.

Why don't you mark it as read tomorrow? You might even manage to finish it. :)

I started late so I didn't read as many books as I would of liked to but I'm sure I passed well over my goal. I started in July but I know I read a lot. I just have to make sure to put my books as currently-reading instead of read, because that will become a big problem because I read really fast.
Hello,Some of you had reported an issue with being unable to see the Sharing options on the Year in books page (https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...).
Heads up that the issue should now be resolved. So if you navigate to the Year in Books page, you should see the Sharing options (Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest) in the banner on top of the page.
Thanks,
Abhi
