What is the Dream Meaning of a Bicycle?
This blog post was brought on by a dream I had last night, which I will share a little further down. The following are my own six general symbol meanings of a bicycle:
Being balanced.
Childhood memories.
Simple travels.
Taking the scenic route.
Not feeling the need to shield who you are.
Feelings of being exposed during travels.
Please remember that none of those dream symbol meanings are set in stone, as feelings can change the meaning. For instance, if you feel angry while riding a bicycle, you’re won’t feel balanced nor have an easier time traveling. Another example is if someone else is riding your bike or you’re sitting in the back that would be interpreted as someone else is in control of your life.
Where you are traveling can also affect the dream. Are you riding your bike in city, suburbs, the boonies, or another country? When you’re on the bike are you going downhill, uphill, straight ahead, on a path/ road or on an uncharted path in nature?
If you add other dream symbols, your personal past, what’s occurring in your life today, or past/present issues; there could be thousands of dream interpretations.
As promised, here is my dream:
I was riding my bicycle down a road, while other people on bikes and cars were all around me. I was feeling such a sense a freedom that I lifted up my shirt to expose my bare breasts, which increased my feelings of freedom and the physical sensation felt wonderful. All of sudden I felt uncomfortable, turned my head to discover some white man with red hair staring at me. Right away, I lowered my top; however, there was a feeling of safety and protection.
Then I needed to return home, realized I was in Newark, New Jersey, and wasn’t sure which direction to take home, when I saw a sign for the New Jersey Turnpike. Not knowing if that was the right route to take, or if it was safe for me to ride my bike there, I stopped at the gigantic building entrance for the Turnpike. The woman in front of the building told me, “You can’t ride your bike on the turnpike.” My response was, “I thought so,” while pondering that I should ask her where the bus station was; as I had no problem leaving my bike behind.
Most likely you will not know that I don’t own nor ride a bicycle, I’ve rarely been in the town of Newark, although I’ve been to Newark airport plenty of times, there is no such building before the Turnpike, and this Jersey girl has been living in North Carolina for over seven years.
Four interpretations of the dream:
The first thing that came to me upon awakening is my life will not only have more freedom, but will become more simplified. I can open up my heart more, although only to those who are safe.
Another meaning of the dream is it’s validation that my 2018 business goals are on the right path. Which will bring much freedom, balance, and aid me to expose my true self in the work that is dearest to my heart. Perhaps, the meaning of not worrying about leaving the bike (my property) behind could be there will be much prosperity on the way. However, some unsafe people may not understand, hence the symbolism of the redheaded man means mainstream society because of the male energy, plus one of the red colored root chakra meanings is for tribes. Even though these people don’t understand, I will be protected from their opinions or negativity.
The third meaning could mean that an upcoming trip will bring much freedom and pleasure into my life.
Lastly, perhaps I need to take a trip to New Jersey and to visit my Father.
Do you understand how my feelings, what’s occurring in my life, and the other symbols effected my dream’s meaning? Those interpretations could be the true meanings; however, for all I know this could be a precognitive symbolic dream for a future event!

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Dreams
If you experienced a trauma in your life, do you think it just goes away? Maybe you prefer not to open up that can of worms? A harrowing event will not disappear since it is filed away in your subconscious, waiting for a trigger to release it. That trigger could be:
A Christmas ornament from your childhood.
The smell of a distinct odor.
Someone who looks like your perpetrator.
A certain song, commercial, or television program.
The feel of wool or silk against your skin.
When you hear a certain sound.
A bad thunderstorm.
Or anything else that is similar to your past situation.
These horrendous past events are sometimes buried deeply and forgotten, or in other words the memories are repressed. Even if you do remember the incident, denial often runs deep. Humans who have deep denial or repressed memories often will not consciously deal with these issues; however, our subconscious mind doesn’t care about how we feel. Repressed experiences often are revealed in dreams as it is easier for a person to deal with it in the dream state. These dreams are referred to as post-traumatic stress disorder dreams or PTSD dreams.
First, let me state that this is not my area of expertise, yet I feel it’s important to educate my readers of this dream category, in case someone are having these types of dreams and doesn’t recognize it.
PTSD are different than nightmares because the dream is based upon a traumatic event that has already occurred in actual life. A PTSD dream can also become recurring dreams. Or if the memories are repressed the dreamer could have dreams that are filled with symbolism, although experience the feelings that occurred during the incident. Sadly, the dreamer will continue to have PTSD dreams until that person deals with the emotions from the event(s) and the impact it has on his/her life.
People can have PTSD dreams from the following types of nine events:
Childhood abuse (mental, emotional, physical, or sexual).
Rape.
Domestic abuse.
Stalked by a stalker.
Victim of a crime.
Witness to a person being abused, tortured, or murdered by someone else.
Near death event such as drowning or fire.
Earth disaster; for example, an earthquake, tornado, or tsunami.
War, which is why many vets have suffered from PTSD.
I realize everything on the list is very heavy stuff and may bother you, even if you are fortunate enough to never have to deal with any of those things. For anyone who might have had this happen to them and are dreaming about the event, please know that you cannot cure this by analyzing your own dreams. I can’t even help you, not unless you are also working with a therapist or counselor that has training in PTSD. Please, please, please seek professional help by Googling PTSD treatment centers in the area where you live. For you deserve to overcome the past in order to have a better life. Again, you can’t achieve this all alone; however you can achieve freedom with professional help. There is light at the end of the tunnel…

How a Dream Inspired a Book Series
What an honor to have Chariss K. Walker as a guest! She has written a ton of books on various topics. If you are thinking about writing a book or are an author this post will interest you. I found her dream so fascinating that led her to do an intense meditation, which inspired her to write the first book of the series. Read on to learn more…
I dreamed that while I was walking, I found a kaleidoscope. It was old and a little rusty, but I picked it up and dusted it off. Wanting to see if it still worked, I put it to my eye to look through it. I expected to see the pretty colored-glass from childhood, but instead, I saw images of disasters and terrible scenes.
One image seen: Kudzu, a prolific and invasive vine common in the southern U.S. and eastern Asia, grew like wildfire. It spread over a food crop and completely blocked out all light in what seemed to take only a few moments. I felt as if the Kudzu covered me as well. I couldn’t breathe or move as the heavy vines pressed over me, pinning me to the earth.
I wanted to leave the dream; I was frightened and my heart raced. I felt smothered, but I couldn’t escape. At some point, I realized I was dreaming and began to observe rather than fear or struggle to break free. The image revealed itself to me in a way that was similar to time-lapse photography, but the pieces of the black and white pictures were broken and fragmented the same as in any kaleidoscope.
I heard the Asian farmers crying in fear and dismay. Even though they spoke another language I easily understood them. They had trusted a new chemical herbicide that was supposed to enhance the hardiness of their crops. Instead, it had the opposite effect. It enabled the Kudzu weeds to grow, and in effect, to annihilate their hard work.
In order to stop the growth from spreading to neighboring fields, the entire region had to be burned. I felt the overwhelming sadness as well as the financial burden the disheartened farmers would face as they realized they’d lost an entire season. They were worried that the catastrophe might affect the next season’s crops as well. The weight of their fear was heavy on me.
My heart began to race again as the emotional burden of the farmers ached within my being. I gasped and sat up in bed fully awake. The dream was over, but it wasn’t finished with me.
[image error]I lay awake for some time thinking about that amazing kaleidoscope. I meditated and during that session, I returned to the scene where I had found the toy. I wondered if I could see something. I put the kaleidoscope to my eye again. Another terrifying scene unfolded. Shocked, I dropped the kaleidoscope back to the ground. In the distance, I heard a television broadcasting the story I had seen in the dream about the kudzu. I understood that the images seen through the kaleidoscope were of actual future events.
I’m a curious person.I picked up the kaleidoscope once more, took deep breaths, and tried it again. Each time, I saw an amazing and frightening vision of the future. I used those images as Mike’s visions in the first book, Kaleidoscope. I attempted to see the images on my own, but I could not. I had to look through the kaleidoscope in order to see them.
That one dream was the beginning of The Vision Chronicles 8-book series which I began to write the next day. In Kaleidoscope, the first book, Mike Lewis narrates his fantastical story in journal style. Mike has been so busy trying to feel normal that he suppressed his sixth sense and psychic abilities at an early age. Because his gift was treasured, an interested party sent a gifted emissary to reactivate Mike’s ability with a tap to his brow or third eye. Still, Mike refused to accept it. As a result, his gift was broken and twisted like the images in the kaleidoscope.
The Vision Chronicles details Mike’s personal growth as he discovers that he is not a freak; he is a valued friend and family member. Each book title indicates that with his acceptance, Mike’s ability evolves and the images become clearer: Spyglass, Window’s Pane, Windows All Around, Open Spaces, Stream of Light, Lamp’s Light, and Clear Glass.
Award-winning author, Chariss K. Walker, M.Msc., writes both fiction and nonfiction books with a metaphysical and spiritual component. Her fiction expresses a visionary/metaphysical message that illustrates growth in a character’s consciousness while utilizing a paranormal aspect. Her nonfiction books share insight, hope, and inspiration. Even though Chariss writes dark-fiction about insanely dark topics, such as sexual abuse, incest, pedophilia, sexual assault, and other inappropriate dinner conversation, there is always an essential question of the abstract nature that gives a reader increasing awareness and perception. All of her books are sold worldwide in eBook, paperback, and many are in large print. Click the “follow” button to find out when new books are released. Indie Author Benefits in a Dream
I’m a huge supporter of Indie authors, plus I am one myself; therefore, it was no surprise when I had the following short dream:
A man (who is a stranger to me) was excited because he had a possible opportunity with a publisher to publish his book as he showed me the rough draft. After congratulating him, I suggested to him to think about self-publishing the book, and listed the benefits of being an Indie author, with the last one being he would earn a lot more money in book sales, instead of the 8% to 15% made with the publisher. He replied, “Oh, yeah, I forgot about self-publishing.”
Why did I have this dream? Could it be that I will help change someone’s mind about going with a publisher? Or maybe some publisher wants me to write a book for them? Possibly. However, what first came to me was this dream probably came about because I volunteer to aid Smashwords with the promotion of their Smart Author podcasts.
When I was toying with the idea of writing a book, I did a ton of research about publishers, the steps I would need to take, and how to write a nonfiction book proposal. After writing ten pages of a book proposal, I felt disgusted with the ridiculous amount of work required to get an agent or publisher approval or rejection, while thinking to myself that I should just write the book. Luckily for me, I discovered Smashwords. What made Smashwords so special to me? They care about the Indie author, so Smashwords provides tools to help the self-publisher on how to publish and market your eBook. Smashwords is also a book distributor for iBooks, Kobo, Barnes & Nobles, Overdrive (libraries), and more; therefore, I don’t need to format/upload an eBook for each online store, which saves hours of work! Plus, they pay me 85% of any books sold through Smashwords and 60% at other stores, no matter what the price of the eBook. Unlike Amazon, who only pays the author 35% for any eBook sold under the amount of $2.99 if the author is not in their Select program (only allowed to sell your eBook on Amazon).
Today, I have four eBooks with Smashwords, plus another eBook coming in 2018. Smashwords continues to find ways to help the Indie author, including their latest informative Smart Author podcasts. If you always wanted to write a book or need help marketing your eBook, I highly suggest these podcasts to begin your education.

The Truth about Dream Dictionaries
Many people think they will find an immediate answer to their dream symbol in a dream dictionary; however, is it truly accurate? Not really! Their meanings are too general as I blogged about in “Are Dream Dictionaries’ Interpretations Right or Wrong?” Still people think they can find the true meaning of their dreams in a dictionary, which you can compare to reading your horoscope online – these are for the general public, not the individual. To get a clearer picture of how to start to comprehend your personal symbol, please watch the short video below from the online course How to Interpret Your Dreams.

Do Cats Have Dreams While Sleeping?
[image error]Are your cats always sleeping? This really is no surprise as cats love to sleep anywhere from 16 to 18 hours a day. But do they dream? When I watch my cats, Merlin (white cat) and Rhiannon (black cat), sleep in their normal or odd body positions, there are times they twitch or move their head, whiskers, paws, or legs. Sometimes, they make sounds in their sleep. My gut tells me they’re dreaming. For this post, I decided to research the internet on this topic.
REM (rapid eye movement) sleep occurs in human sleep about 20% to 25% during our sleeping time at different intervals. This is where the eyes move rapidly, while in the deepest state of sleep, and when we dream our most intense, vivid dreams. These are the dreams that are easier to recall. REM in cats was discovered in 1958 by William Dement; therefore if humans dream during the REM state, so do cats.
What do cats dream about? All the articles I have read are in agreement that cats dream about: chasing prey, tormenting or killing their prey, running away from danger, being with their friends, or eating something yummy. Yet, how could we truly know what goes on inside of a cat’s brain? For all we know cats are truly dreaming about: taking over the world, achieving revenge on the cruel neighbor across the street, healing their human slave, or are hanging out on a higher plane cleaning up the mess we humans have made of Earth?
Have you ever seen your cat dream? What do you think they’re dreaming about?
The below four sources were used in the second paragraph, please click the links to learn more about REM, sleep stages, and cat’s sleep.
