Are Dream Dictionaries’ Interpretations Right or Wrong?
During the writing of my book Learn the Secret Language of Dreams a psychic friend automatically assumed it would be a dream dictionary, which it isn’t. Another time, I was a guest on a radio show mentioning how dream dictionaries are too generic for the correct symbolism while giving alternatives on how to interpret your dreams. When I finished speaking the host said, “I always used the dream app on my phone to find the meaning of my dreams.” Ah, duh, dream apps and dream dictionaries are the same thing.
Why do people love dream dictionaries so much? Because it’s a quick reference guide. We are living in an age of – instant: fast food, phone text, instant hookups for so-called intimacy, and whatever else we want NOW! Sometimes faster isn’t better: fast food can be unhealthy, phone text can cause serious miscommunication or misinterpretation, while instant hookups can result in sexual transmitted diseases or unwanted pregnancy.
There are times dream interpretations could be a no-brainer to figure out as my July 2017 column for Bellesprit can attest to; however, analyzing a dream is often more complex. Dream dictionaries are not taking your emotions, your life history, nor other situations into consideration. Let’s take the following dream example:
You dream a man hands you an engagement ring.
A dream dictionary will go into how it could mean that your relationship is going into a deeper commitment, you will be attending a wedding, a man is in love with you, or is expressing his love for you. The dictionary might suggest if the ring is broken it means that his love for you is incomplete. All those meanings make sense and might even be right for your dream. Yet, what was your feeling in the dream?
If you were ecstatic that would be a wonderful sign, although if you were angry or gloomy this would indicate an entirely different meaning. What about his emotions? His joyful feelings would be a reason to celebrate; however, a jealous man may be asking you to become his wife so he can control you. Can you understand how the feelings in a dream effect one dream scene?
Now, let’s take people’s past to observe how it changes the engagement ring symbol. This would be a nightmare if a man had three horrible marriages. How upsetting this dream would be for a woman who was recently left at the altar. A mother who has been waiting years for her daughter to get married so she can become a grandmother, would be ecstatic having this dream about her daughter. I hope these three examples give you an idea of how our personal life’s history can alter the meaning of a dream.
So what are dream dictionaries useful for? This a good beginning point to start to understand your unique symbolism; in fact, compare them to learning how to count. You certainly wouldn’t expect somebody who just learned how to count to know how to subtract, multiply, divide, nor be able to do calculus. There is no instant in dream symbolism or dream analysis; nevertheless, it is a worthwhile endeavor to pursue.

I wrote a blog on the 12 Benefits of Dream Interpretation. One benefit was gigantic, which was as follows:
Here’s an enormous bonus of learning the secret language of dreams – you will have better relationships and a happier love life. Your dreams give warnings about people who are toxic to your health, red flags concerning a potential mate, the “right one” to have a love relationship with, tips to resolve issues, and ideas on how to continue harmony in the relationship.
Afterwards, I thought to myself, hmm, that would be an excellent Facebook Live presentation. Some of you may not desire to watch the video; therefore, I wrote the six main points below the video.

Nightmares Are a Gift
The echoes of your feet pounding on the sidewalks are ringing in your ears, your heart feels like it’s about to explode, and it’s difficult to breathe. A quick turn of the head to observe that Mr. Psycho with the knife is still there as you run into the building filled with policemen. Oh, no! Where did all the people go? A sharp blade is against your throat. How did the lunatic get behind me?
Terrified, you’ve awakened in bed. Whew, what a nightmare! A part of you are relieved; although your body is still shaking. Was it just a nightmare? What could it mean?
The following quote comes from my book Learn the Secret Language of Dreams; Nightmares are a gift because the person is being forced awake to look at an issue that they have been avoiding to find a solution. Granted, they don’t feel like a gift; however, your nightmare is giving you a HUGE warning that you need to deal with this problem.
Let’s look at the seven common nightmares:
Running and/or hiding away from danger.
Someone wants to murder you.
Falling from great heights.
Watching harm befall a loved one.
Body or health threats.
Getting into an accident.
Your possessions are stolen.
Nightmares are not meaningless visions of the nighttime; rather they are a signal of what is wrong. Here are some examples of what your nightmare could be caused from: your inner fear, feeling stuck in life, your unresolved dilemmas, dissatisfaction with a situation, post-traumatic stress disorder, or even a past life.
Here are five tips to aid you after having a nightmare:
Stay awake after a nightmare to avoid going back into the nightmare.
Record the nightmare in a journal or recording device to lessen its effect.
Think about what is going on today or in the past that could have caused the nightmare.
Formulate a plan to help resolve your struggles in life.
Allow someone or a professional to help you.
I would love for you to comment about any concerns with your nightmares or what has helps you dealing with nightmares. My dream interpretation services can assist you, too.

“Dreaming About Your Ex” on Facebook Live
What an experience it was using BeLive.tv for the first time on Facebook Live based on my most popular blog yet, “Why am I dreaming of My Ex?” My friend and colleague, Tiffany White suggested using BeLive.tv since it has perks that Facebook Live doesn’t have. Tiffany uses it all the time for her Goldylocks Production radio and television shows.
I schedule the show, got a confirmation from BeLive.tv, which also asked if I had any questions. My question was if I could share the post from Pamela Cummins Author business page to my personal page while it was live. They responded, “Yes.”
Fast forward to the time of the broadcast, Dipsey Doodle was wondering why it wasn’t working, until my man asked me if I was using the Google Chrome browser on my desktop. Duh, no I wasn’t. After getting into the right browser, I started the presentation, and shared the show to my personal Facebook page. Oh, no it ended the broadcast! I started panicking, yet breathed through it as I deleted that broadcast, and began anew. LOL, afterwards I realized that I did the live presentation on my personal page instead of the business page.
Here are the lessons I learned from that experience: use the Google Chrome browser on my desktop, put a BIG note on my computer screen to remind me to use the right browser, always double check before going live that the broadcast is on the correct Facebook page, and go into Mozilla Firefox or a different browser to share the post while it’s recording live. Maybe my experience will help you?
Ta, Dah, here is the video on why you dream about your ex:

The Many Interpretations of Short Dreams
Don’t discount short dreams, thinking that there’s not much value or they only have one meaning. Just like one word in the English language can have lots of meanings, a symbol in a dream often has numerous meanings. This is why I compare dream apps/dictionaries to learning your ABC’s with a few basic words such as Jane, Spot, or cat. When you add in what has happened in the past or occurring today in the dreamer’s life, plus their emotions in the dream – the meanings become even more complicated.
Rarely does a dream just have one symbol; as a matter of fact, there are usually at least two or more symbols in a dream, which is why I give my clients several interpretations to choose the one or two that feels right to them. To read three short dream examples, please visit June’s 2017 In the Dreamtime column in the free online Bellesprit Magazine. You can submit your dreams for the magazine by emailing them to pamelabellesprit@gmail.com. I include similar styles of dreams for each month’s column; therefore, your dream may not appear in the following magazine issue. If you need the interpretation sooner or desire to learn how to interpret your own dreams, visit my dream interpretation services web page.
