Emerging Trends For Future Leaders
Today’s discussion is from an interesting study done by Deloitte called ‘The Rise of the Individual and the Future of Work’ where they discussed the five important trends we will expect within the business world. How will these trends affect our career aspirations? How will these trends challenge future leaders in particular?
This video is meant to provide you with a look at what future leaders should do in order to be the best that they can be. Because let’s face it, effective leadership will rely on keeping up with new trends.
The first trend is the rise of robots and AI. As these become more prevalent, you as a leader need to be thinking forward. Learn to take advantage of these new technologies and use them to be more productive.
Second, the job market is tight right now. The shortages of qualified candidates in the market mean that you need to focus your attention and effort on developing the talent that you already have. Internal development will be key for future leaders if they want a team that they can truly rely on.
Another trend is low productivity. People are not any more productive than they were ten years ago. One possible reason for this is that people have fewer and fewer opportunities for innovation due to time constraints. Effective leadership means creating opportunities within your organization for people to shut off their emails and focus on the important tasks.
People are also working too much. People are now taking one less week of vacation than they had before. Employees feel so overworked and overwhelmed that one in six are on sleeping pills, antidepressants, or anti-anxiety medication. Make sure that you take care of the mental wellbeing of your employees by creating wellness programs.
With this new wealth of information, perhaps you need some time to think about what you can do differently moving forward. My goal in this video is to share some insights not just on how to adapt to the ‘new normal’ but also on how to practice effective leadership in the workplace. You WANT that edge to help you have more impact in the business especially in this critical time!

As these trends continue and accelerate, future leaders will need to stay up to date with the changes. Effective leadership is going to depend on how well leaders can adapt to the transformations occurring all around them.
If you think this video is helpful, kindly ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ within your network. How can you become a better leader? Can you think of any other important trends currently affecting business leaders? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

Working From Home Tips And Tricks | How To Actually Get Work Done
How do you actually get work done when you must work from home? Especially now where our anxiety and fears about the pandemic are on high alert and we watch the peaceful protests as well as the violence over the calls for social justice?
It is not easy and there is no ‘playbook’ for what we are all going through—more so on what you are personally going through. It can be so easy to fall into an unproductive rut, and being stuck at home doesn’t help the issue. That is why I made this video to share my work from home tips which hopefully you will find helpful.
There are a number of very specific ways to do things that will help you be more productive. The first thing though—the thing that you absolutely must do–is be gentle with yourself. Do not be hard on yourself. Understand that this is a very difficult time and we are in an unchartered water. No one knows exactly how to navigate it but there are some tricks that will help.
It can be so hard to get things done—particularly all the things that you think you must and SHOULD get done—when there is so much else to manage. You’re helping the kids with their schoolwork—at whatever level they are. You are still managing the household and it could be more complicated than usual because is it safe to eat out yet? And there is what I call the ‘fear factor’. All this extra anxiety can easily drag us and our productivity down. It’s only to be expected!
Getting work done is hard as it is for some people, especially those of us who thrive on personal interaction. And it’s true, productivity isn’t always simple to achieve. But do know that there are ways to help yourself and to make it a little easier on you. I know you’re doing the best you can to get through this. Be gentle with yourself. Believe in what you can do. We’ll figure it out together.

Small Business Tips For Weathering The Crisis
For this week, I’m sharing a recording of an appearance I made (virtually) on Jim Fitzpatrick’s show, The Atlanta Small Business Network. During the show, Jim and I discussed the current situation for small businesses and the five success factors that will help you keep your business going despite the crisis.
One of these factors is to make sure you take care of your cash. Cash is going to be an essential part of getting through this crisis because your business may not be able to function at the level it was before this all started. Hopefully, you will find ways to pivot or adapt, but until then, cash is going to be crucial.
Another one of the success factors that will really help you, is leadership. A leader is someone who takes responsibility. They tell us what is to be expected and don’t make up facts. It’s common for us to want to whitewash the facts in order to make people feel better. But one of the most important small business tips I can give right now is to just be upfront with your employees; tell them what you know and what you don’t know. That will be the best cure for uncertainty right now.
And third, make sure that you have a positive mindset. There have been many disasters before. Each one is unique in the set of challenges it presents, but we have emerged from each one and gone through a recovery. This crisis will be no different. While I can’t say exactly what the world will look like a few years from now, I know that the crisis itself will be temporary. Don’t let fear paralyze you.
Watch the video and learn more about some small business tips for weathering the crisis. I’m positive that you will find yourself inspired and hopefully start taking charge of making sure your business is both disaster proof and primed to grow again as soon as possible. If you find this video helpful, please ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ it to your network.

Leadership, access to money, a positive mindset and more – are some of the key points to look into especially in this time of uncertainty. It is imperative to focus on these tips, stay strong and plan ahead. You need to pay attention to survival first, look for opportunities, and then think about recovery.

True Characteristics Of a Leader
The characteristics of a leader—a real leader—show through when there is crisis and chaos. Certainly, the last few months and, in particular, the last two weeks, have been chaotic, emotional, and scary. The pandemic—a horrible slow-motion tragedy unfolding before us—continues to be debilitating our health and our economy. Then the cold-blooded murder of George Floyd took us all to a new level of sorrow and terror—something even deeper.
We all have reactions to these events as they occur. We all have feelings AND opinions that are based on what we know. We all can and should share our feelings and, probably, our opinions. What we need more of, is feminine messaging. Yes, there is discord and conflicting viewpoints; however, that’s all the more reason to make an effort to understand where other people are coming from.
And when you do have an opinion, it’s important to look for differing opinions. The importance of listening is that it allows you to expand your perspective and understanding. One of the most important characteristics of a leader is being able to reach out to people who are different from you.
There has been too much destruction of businesses. In Santa Monica alone, 81 businesses have been looted or destroyed. I received a lot of negative feedback for making a comment about this. People criticized me for not posting a message about the victims of social injustice instead. Of putting property over people. I believe you want to inspire people to follow not force them to comply.
I think that there are some misconceptions about what the most important task for leadership is when faced with this situation. Is it to dictate how others should feel and communicate? No! Is it to shame those who are not messaging in ways that they find appropriate? No!
In this video, I talk about the characteristics of a leader and how these characteristics have been sorely lacking recently as we as for social justice and demonstrate for #blacklivesmatter. We need more of the good characteristics of a leader to come out so that we can work together to make change happen. A leader should embrace the importance of listening over aggression. Only by hearing all of the facts, can we truly unite and achieve meaningful change.

How To Get A Job Back During Times Of Crisis
Everything has changed. With so many people out of work, retaining your job, getting your job back, or finding a better one has to be your most critical concern.
A few months ago, there were few candidates available for employers. They had to roll out the red carpet to find the best employees, the high power, the high return candidates. This meant companies had to go out of their way to make employees happy and spend lots of resources trying to attract new prospects.
Now, the world has flipped upside down where employers have the upper hand. There’s a large pool of prospective employees in the market and not that many jobs. This simply means that learning how to get a job has changed.
As companies open and build out teams once again, your unique value proposition is going to be a crucial part of getting hired. Why do you need the job? Why should they hire you? What are your set of skills that makes you a better choice than anyone else? This is particularly important for women as, traditionally, we have not been that good about talking assertively and unapologetically about ourselves.
The people who are going to be hired are the ones that have something to offer that’s necessary right now. Take a look at the needs the business is serving. You should address those needs and show how you can contribute to their fulfillment. Watch the video and understand that the people who gets the job are the ones that have something to offer that’s necessary right now.

Knowing how to get a job back comes down to knowing your strengths and how they will serve your company. The key to your success will be your value proposition. Figure out what it is, and use it to your advantage.

Happy Woman, Happy World: A Book For Learning How To Succeed In Business
In the book, Happy Woman, Happy World, I give female leaders the chance to learn how to succeed in life and in business. Although we women face many daunting challenges – especially those of us who are doing double duty of educating and working, this book is a great resource that offers a straight-talk approach to overcoming adversity.
Now an international best seller in Amazon, the book has been called a game changer and life saver. I think one of the reasons why this book is so effective is because I have personally lived through many challenges and got to tell the story.
Starting as a photo editor for Elle magazine and eventually becoming a producer and representative for brands such as BMW, Wrangler, and Levi’s, I can say I have experienced a highly successful early career. However, then came a moment that changed everything. Lawsuits, lying employees, betrayal — all of the negative events that you think could never happen to you. At the end of it all, I was left with 135,000 dollars in debt. I really do hope you find some motivation and inspiration for yourself, see how my story can be yours—with a nice happy ending.
A big focus in this book is how female leaders can deal with feeling overwhelmed and learn how to succeed in business despite the obstacles in their way. It also aims to help women discover and rise to their full potential. And so, if you’re someone facing your own set of challenges, this book could give you the insight that you need to move forward. How Diversity In The Workplace Encourages Innovation And Entrepreneurship — Even During A Crisis!
Granted, it is a difficult time. Perhaps the most difficult time we will see in our careers. You might be thinking that issues like diversity in the workplace should be put aside until things get better. But, do we really have to?
There are stages you will go through as a business emerges from a crisis like this. The first is, literally, SURVIVAL. Just getting through this time—however long it is until we return to some kind of normalcy—requires hard work, determination and very careful planning.
But the second stage of the process is all about innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. And here is where, as I share in the video, nurturing diversity, fostering equality, doubling down on letting all voices be heard, is so critically important.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGFMA_o4pwQ&utm_source=blog&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=gender_equalityVideo can’t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: How Diversity In The Workplace Encourages Innovation And Entrepreneurship — Even During A Crisis! If everyone feels like they fully belong and that their ideas are important, you will see more creative input as your teams and businesses press the restart button. Many of us hope that some businesses may be unchanged by the pandemic, but the truth is MANY will have to do business differently going forward. Take a look at these questions below.
How do you compete in that new environment?
How do you speak to your customers in new and more effective ways?
How do you market successfully in a changed world?
How do you lead your teams now after trust eroded?
The answers to the questions above will propel you forward into the final stage…recovery. The new business model has to engage your employees differently to harness the strength that diversity in your workplace provides. This can propel you forward to even greater success in the future.
If you liked this article, please share it with your network. I’m also inviting you to subscribe to The Women’s Code Youtube channel to get the latest videos not only on equality and diversity, but also on women issues, career mapping, and business development.

How To Avoid Cash Flow Problems In A Crisis
As the ‘Growth Architect’, I love helping people grow and scale their businesses. Right now, though, it is ALL about avoiding cash flow problems in this time of crisis. The pandemic is creating enormous, unprecedented cash flow problems for businesses, large and small. And as a business owner, it is imperative to find a way to SURVIVE this crisis with your business intact.
You have to STAY THE COURSE, which is currently very trying and difficult as a business owner. The stories of survival are heartbreaking. I want to do what I can to help everyone survive this and, when it is possible, to be prepared to grow again as demand and revenue start to climb again.
I focused this video on what I hope are short term issues, knowing that if we don’t navigate these next 3-6 months successfully, we will all lose so much. Owners, employees, vendors and customers will all be negatively impacted if businesses do not find a way to manage cash flow and employee issues to get through to better times.
Here’s a short video where I share some insights and tips to survive this pandemic. I share the three most important things you must do in order to make it through the crisis and still have a business. I detail how to do those things and why they will help, as well.

Why Mindset Growth Is Vital For Success As An Entrepreneur
Many of you know my story. I had the mindset of an entrepreneur and though it took years of struggling, I eventually built a business that I sold for millions to Bill Gates. That was an incredible amount of hard work and effort, a mindset growth that led to great success.
My attitude, throughout all of my life that has been that, if I worked very, very hard, I could achieve my goals and dreams. It is motivation and drive that have moved me forward in my career and life. Even now, in my role as the Growth Architect and founder of the Women’s Code, I work long hours and, frankly, maybe harder than I should.
As someone in the business world, it’s crucial to note that your mindset makes a world of difference. To an extent, your attitude and mindset dictate your reality and future. If you want success, you need to grow your mindset and adopt a winning attitude. Too many people ignore this, chalking it off as too “spiritual.” But that’s far from the truth.
In this week’s video you’ll learn that I too am growing as I delve more about how important mindset growth can be to see better results in both life and business.I’ll explain where I’ve found guidance and challenge you to do the ‘Mindset Diet’ as well!
I hope you check this out to understand how to harness your mindset growth for your own benefit. And if you do accept my challenge, I’d love for you to send me an update of your results, too. Let’s make a positive impact together.
