Blood

I gave blood today, for the first time in over a decade. I last gave blood when I lived in Perth, and I think it was before I went overseas to live. In recent years, every time I thought "oh, I should go do that again", I would realise I'd recently had a tattoo or piercing and wouldn't be allowed. Today was fine, though. And I spoke to two people about The Opposite of LIfe and handed out my cards for it. Because there is no irony in talking about a vampire book while giving blood, is there?

Seriously, it's weird.

This tweeting as Gary and Lissa is fascinating. They both got upset today, at something [info:] chameleongirl79  suggested. It's so weird reading these things and trying to reply in character. Now, in my head, Lissa is sending Gary reassuring emails and he's typing them laboriously back, with all the correct grammar, to say it's fine, he's fine, he's out as a vampire and it should have been expected, but ... she suggested he BITES people?? On PURPOSE??

Oh, the LOLs that happen in my head about these ...

Review: Horn, by Peter M Ball

I picked up Horn at Continuum 5, partly because I like to support small presses (hello [info:] girliejones !) but mostly because I kept hearing intriguing things about it, from girliejones but also comments on her posts. About unicorns behaving in a way that wasn't all cute little fairy story adorableness.

I approve when the world of faerie is written about as a dark, powerful, scary place. Faeries weren't necessarily all that fun in the original stories and were as likely to play nasty tricks as clean y

Vermillion, tonight, at the Empress

Jess' band, Vermillion, is doing the open mike night this evening at the Empress on Nicholson Rd, Fitzroy North. The doors open at around 7-7.30 and they'll be on sometime after that, maybe around 8.

With Pretty Good for a Girl #2 just coming out, it might be a good opportunity to go and celebrate a new all-girl band looking to make their mark!

Anyway, if some/any of you could come, it would be lovely to see you! That link to the Empress also has a tab where you can see what's on the bar menu in c

I think I am developing a form of multiple personality disorder

A writer I follow on Twitter was looking for writeres who have twitter as their own characters. I commented that Gary would be kind of funny on Twitter because he'd have no idea. Well, one thing led to another and now...

behold. @garyhooper44 and @lissawilson83 are tweeting at each other.

I had to keep logging out of one persona to log in as the other to make replies. THen logging into my regular @daggyvamp to chek it was all working properly.

I am now suffering a great deal of identity confusion.
