Putting the bite on you
I found this website that enlists vampire fans in the fight against malaria via Twitter. Malaria is a preventable disease that kills a milliion a year (mainly children) in developing countries. I learned a lot about it back when I worked at World Vision. It's one of many ways that millions die of preventable causes.
If you're a vampire fan, donate at Infectious Bite or you can fund projects via World Vision or Oxfam (or the aid agency... of your choice).

In which Narrelle goes Editing
I was working through my edit notes for Walking Shadows last night, and noticed how very often I have Capitalised Certain Phrases. Once or twice is good for effect, but Multiple Times strikes me merely as Mannered and Pretentious. I will have to do a thorough Read and Edit because, note to self, I am *not* AA Milne. And Gary is *not* Winnie the Pooh. Although, if he is, that makes Lissa Piglet, which I find Very Amusing.

Alan Tudyk is a wonder.
Jess and I have just been watching 'Death at a Funeral' and I am reminded once more of how fond I am of Alan Tudyk. I loved him in A Knight's Tale, and as Wash in Firefly of course. He does great voice work. I've just discovered at imdb that he's in the remake of V - along with Morena Baccarin, so that is sweet as. I hope he's not a collaborator!! :-) I have a soft spot for V. I once co-wrote two fanzines about it, cos Ham Tyler was THE DUDE. But that's another story.
So, Alan Tudyk. You rock.

Happy birthday imjustlikeme!
I just had the most splendiforous evening, in the company of the lovely
imjustlikeme , whose birthday we were celebrating,
sharpest_rose ,
digitalsprawl ,
jamethiel_bane , and Tash.
chameleongirl79 joined as later and witnessed a few more of the waiterly shenanigans which kept us all so vastly, vastly amused all through dinner. I have never before been invited to spend an evening making... stock. I suspect I will never view chocolate and hazelnut tart in quite the same way again either.

Fearless honesty or shameless self promotion? You be the judge!
On Friday, between 12-2, The Outland Institute once more graces the radio waves. Tune in to Joy 94.9, or stream it live (and if that all fails, you can download the podcast from iTunes!) to listen to John Richards interview the charming Alan Brough, and I talk once more about writing a sequel that sucked and having to go back to the drawing board.

Apropos of nothing
I just watched the What a Catch Donnie video again - kind of grumpily because it STILL isn't available on the Australian iTunes, so I found it online. But then I cheered up. Because it's a wonderful, hopeful, glorious clip. With pathos. And funny bits. And Patrick Stump laughing at a seagull drinking out of a tin cup. And hugs with the Trohman. And rescued buddies, and seagulls released into the wild. And the *correct* version with Pete being so very of top of mind because he's so unexpectedly a

Outside the Law 3 - review in The Age
Apparently the book was reviewed in the A2 section of The Age on the weekend. Nice. :-) It was cool to be invited to take part in that project.

Continuum discontinued
Well, Continuum 5 has wound to its inevitable conclusion, and I'm sitting here mucking about on the net when I ought to be in bed sleeping, cos man, I am exhausted!
I had a great time.
My Guest of Honour speech went well. I'm both relieved and pleased about that, because when I wrote it I feared it was a bit dumb. I was attempting to answer taht question I get asked from time to time - "where do you get your ideas?". A couple of people spoke to me later to thank me and said they found it useful, o

Costume for Continuum 5
This is a picture of me in my costume for Continuum 5. My friend Julia made the skirt, adjusted the corset design, made all sorts of wonderful suggestions for jewellery etc. The pale make up looks very harsh here, but in the low lighting of the venue I'm told it looked pretty good. I don't think this picture does justice to how I think I looked. I don't normally feel like I'm very striking, but I very much felt striking and sexy in this outfit. I received many many comments, and also more than a
