I’ve cut back on loving you,
but not smoking, and I think that I
have got the two mixed up.
But I like it this way.
I like being able to wake up
in the middle of the night
with something to fill the void
of your absence. Even if
that means allowing my insides
to slowly deteriorate. But that’s
okay, because we are all
crumbling anyway, and don’t
make me feel weak because
I want to speed up the process.
We do what we have to do
to get by, and I am just doing
what I feel like I need to do
to be able to survive.
