Llena tu Vida con Amor

“No finjan amar a los demás; ámenlos de verdad. Aborrezcan lo malo. Aférrense a lo bueno. Ámense unos a otros con un afecto genuino y deléitense al honrarse mutuamente”.  Romanos 12:9-10 (NTV)

Si quieres un cambio permanente en tu vida, debes llenar tu vida con amor.

El amor es lo único que puede cambiar lo incambiable. El amor revigoriza. El amor revitaliza. El amor renueva. El amor refresca. El amor es la fuerza más poderosa en el universo, porque Dios es amor. No dice, que Dios tiene amor; dice que Dios es amor. El amor cura lo que no puede ser sanado de otra manera. El amor levanta. El amor fortalece. El amor energiza. El amor empodera.

“No finjan amar a los demás; ámenlos de verdad. Aborrezcan lo malo. Aférrense a lo bueno. Ámense unos a otros con un afecto genuino y deléitense al honrarse mutuamente” Romanos 12:9-10 (NTV).

“Deléitense al honrarse mutuamente” —¡me encanta eso! ¿Sabes lo que eso significa? Significa que cuando las personas en tu grupo pequeño tienen una victoria en la salud, finanzas, o cualquier meta que se hayan fijado, necesitas celebrar con ellos. Celebrar su victoria. ¿Perdiste un kilo más? ¡felicidades! ¿Ya debes menos? ¡Fantástico! ¿Tuviste una mejora en tu matrimonio? ¡estupendo! La Biblia dice que nos deléitenos en honrarnos unos a otros y demostremos un afecto genuino.

Esto es lo sorprendente: Dios ha diseñado el universo para que cuando ayudes a otras personas, Dios cuide de tus problemas. Dios está observándote no para decir: “¿te estás ayudando a ti mismo?”, sino “¿estás ayudando a otros?” ¿Quieres ayuda con tus metas? Comienza ayudando a otros con sus propósitos. Entrégate. Es sano dar a los demás.

¿Recuerdas la historia de Job cuando perdió todo? Perdió su salud, su familia, sus riquezas, lo perdió todo. Al final del libro, Dios le devolvió todo a Job. ¿Por qué? ¿Acaso porque Job pidió para sí mismo? No. Dice, “Después de haber orado Job por sus amigos, el Señor lo hizo prosperar de nuevo y le dio dos veces más de lo que antes tenía” Job 42:10 (NVI).

¿Por qué necesitas estar en un grupo pequeño? No solo porque otras personas te pueden ayudar, sino porque tú puedes ayudarles. Para que puedas orar por esas personas, y entonces Dios te ayudará. Entrégate en amor, y observa a Dios trabajar en tu vida.

Work for Your Goals in Faith, Not Fear

“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)

Setting a big goal can be exciting at first—and overwhelming. In fact, looking at a big goal in front of you can make you afraid. So, how can you respond in faith instead of fear? Here are four ways. 

Acknowledge God’s presence.
You can be confident that God is with you and that he is working through every circumstance and situation in your life, including your big goals. The Bible says, “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT).

Watch for signs of God’s work in your life.
The bigger the dream, the longer it may take you to accomplish it. You may not see the fruit of your labor at first, but look for the little sprouts sticking up out of the ground. God is working, even when it’s not obvious. Trusting that God is working will help keep you from fear and discouragement. Keep working toward your godly goal, and in time, you will see God’s blessing.

Stand on God’s promises in the Bible.
When you set a goal, don’t focus on the problems; instead, focus on the promises. Find a promise in God’s Word that will take you to your goal. 

Genesis tells the story of Abraham giving his chief servant a big goal: to travel to a faraway land to find a wife for Abraham’s son. When the servant began to wonder if he could accomplish it, Abraham reassured him by sharing a promise he received from God:

“The Lord will send his angel before you to help you get a wife for my son there” (Genesis 24:7 NCV).

When you have a God-given goal that’s tied to a promise in the Bible, you can wait with faith, not fear, trusting that God will honor his promises.

Believe in the goodness of God’s plans.
How do you know that God’s plans for you are good? The Bible includes more than 7,000 promises of his goodness towards you, because he wants you to learn to trust him—to have faith instead of fear.

God may not send an angel to go before you as you work toward your goal, but that’s okay—you don’t need an angel! Dozens of times in Scripture God has said, “I’ll be with you, no matter where you go.”

Whatever big goal God has put in front of you today, choose to respond with faith instead of fear. Then watch for signs of his work in your life, and believe in his goodness to you.

El Cambio Requiere Comunidad

“Así como nuestro cuerpo tiene muchas partes y cada parte tiene una función específica, el cuerpo de Cristo también. Nosotros somos las diversas partes de un solo cuerpo y nos pertenecemos unos a otros”.   Romanos 12:4-5 (NTV)

No harás todos los cambios que: necesitas hacer, quieres hacer, desearías hacer, planeas hacer, o esperas hacer, por tu propia cuenta. Si pudieras, lo harías, pero no puedes, ¡así que no lo harás!

La Biblia dice en Romanos 12:4-5 “Así como nuestro cuerpo tiene muchas partes y cada parte tiene una función específica, el cuerpo de Cristo también. Nosotros somos las diversas partes de un solo cuerpo y nos pertenecemos unos a otros” (NTV).

Dios diseñó el universo de tal manera, que nos necesitemos unos a otros. Yo te necesito, y tú me necesitas. La frase “unos a otros” es usada 58 veces en el nuevo testamento: amarnos unos a otros, cuidaros unos a otros, animarnos unos a otros, soportarnos unos a otros, orar unos por otros, saludarnos unos a otros, compartir unos con otros. Dios nunca quiso que fueras sólo por la vida. ¡Aún el llanero solitario tenía a Toro! No fuiste creado para ir sólo por la vida. Sin importar tu estatus marital, eso no es relevante. Necesitas una familia espiritual, y necesitas estar en una congregación.

Necesitas personas a tu alrededor, y ellos te necesitan. Nos pertenecemos mutuamente.

Hay muchos libros de auto ayuda que te dirán las cosas correctas que debes hacer, pero no te proveerán las dos cosas que la Biblia dice que debes tener: El poder de Dios y la comunión. Eso es lo que realmente necesitas para cambiar de verdad. El cambio necesita comunión.

En Saddleback, tenemos personas con todo tipo de pasado. Hablamos 65 idiomas en nuestra iglesia y tenemos miembros de diferentes religiones etnias antecedentes y nacionalidades.

Pero lo que tenemos en común es nuestro amor por Dios. Eso nos une y nos permite ayudarnos unos a los otros.

Gálatas 3:28 dice, “Ya no hay judío ni griego, esclavo ni libre, hombre ni mujer, sino que todos ustedes son uno solo en Cristo Jesús” (NVI).

Seize the Moment

“Jesus said, ‘No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God's kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day.”'

Luke 9:62 (MSG)

The Bible tells the story of a blind man named Bartimaeus. One day, as Jesus and his followers left Jericho, they came upon him begging by the side of the road. When he heard that Jesus was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mark 10:47 NIV).

When Bartimaeus got up that morning, he had no idea that this was the day Jesus was going to walk by. He thought it was just another ordinary day: same place, same cry for help, same situation. 

But suddenly Jesus was there. Bartimaeus had no time to prepare or think through his response. It was just an opportunity that dropped in his lap. And he chose to seize the moment. He decided not to delay or procrastinate. He was going to do it—now.

That’s the first key to a fresh start in your life too: Whatever you’re going to do, do it now. Don’t say, “Next year I’m going to make a fresh start,” or “Next month I’m going to make some changes,” or “Tomorrow I’m going to make that a priority.” It’s now or never. Seize the moment! 

Every day, we have opportunities for a fresh start, but we don’t take advantage of them. Why? We procrastinate.

Procrastination is a strange phenomenon. You think it will make your life easier when it actually does just the opposite. It’s a stress generator!

When you know the right thing to do, today is the time to do it. Don’t assume you can wait for tomorrow. 

The Bible warns over and over about presuming upon tomorrow. I’m not guaranteed a tomorrow, and neither are you. Jesus said, “No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God’s kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day” (Luke 9:62 MSG).

You have no guarantee that you will live tomorrow. Whatever you’re going to do, you better do it now.

Is Jesus inviting you to make a fresh start today? Don’t delay. Follow the example of Bartimaeus and seize the moment.

Para Saber a Dónde Vas, Evalúa dónde Estás

“Nadie tenga un concepto de sí más alto que el que debe tener, sino más bien piense de sí mismo con moderación, según la medida de fe que Dios le haya dado”.  Romanos 12:3b (NVI)

La primera y más grande barrera en cualquier área de tu vida es el orgullo.

De hecho, nadie tiene todo bajo control. Yo no tengo todo bajo control. Tú no tienes todo bajo control. El Papa no tiene todo bajo control. La Biblia dice que nada es perfecto en la Tierra excepto la Palabra de Dios. Todo en este planeta está destruido a causa del pecado.

Pero vamos por ahí tratando de impresionar a la gente y pretendiendo que tenemos todo bajo control. El problema es que, si quieres tener un cambio duradero en tu vida, primeramente, tienes que evaluar tu estado actual humildemente y admitir que no tienes todo bajo control. Tienes que admitir que tienes problemas con tus finanzas, con tu salud, y con muchas otras cosas. 

Romanos 12:3b dice, “Nadie tenga un concepto más alto de si del que debe tener, sino más bien tenga un concepto equilibrado de acuerdo con la medida de fe que Dios le haya dado” (NVI).

¿Estás dispuesto a preguntarle a las personas que te rodean: “Dónde necesito cambiar”? ¿Tienes el valor de preguntarle a otras personas que sean honestas contigo, a cerca de ti?

¿Por qué es esto tan importante? Porque sólo puedes manejar lo que mides. Si no sabes la medida de tu fe, no puedes crecer en fe. Si no sabes la media de tu salud, no puedes desarrollar y crecer en salud. Si no sabes la medida de donde estás financieramente, no puedes fijar metas financieras. Si no sabes la medida de donde te encuentras espiritual o vocacionalmente o en tus relaciones, no puedes crecer en esas áreas. Sólo puedes manejar lo que puedes medir.

También es muy importante registrar tu progreso sobre cualquier meta en un diario. Si vas a fijar algunas metas de salud, financieras o de cualquier otro tipo, registra tu progreso a lo largo del año para que puedas medir tu crecimiento.

Evalúa donde te encuentras para que puedas saber hacia dónde debes de ir.

Three Characteristics of Godly Goals

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.”

Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

God cares about what kind of goals you set. In fact, setting godly goals benefits you in three major ways:

Godly goals challenge your faith. The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6 NIV). In order to please God, you need to set goals that require faith. In other words, you should set goals that are too big to reach on your own.

If you set a big goal, God will work in a big way. If you set a medium-size goal, God will work in a medium way. If you set a small goal, God will work in a small way.

Goals stretch your faith. They affirm that you trust God, but they are also statements of how much you trust God. The Bible says, “According to your faith let it be done to you” (Matthew 9:29 NIV).

Godly goals develop your character. When you set a goal that requires faith, God uses the journey to change you as you work to reach that goal. 

It’s the plot of a thousand movies. Whether the character’s goal is to win the war, go to the moon, or climb Mount Everest, they must overcome obstacles on the way to their goal, and as a result, their character changes. They grow up.

God wants you to grow up. When you die, you won’t take any of your accomplishments with you to heaven. But you will take your character. Godly goals develop the kind of character God wants you to have.

The apostle Paul says, “I do not mean that I am already as God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach it and to make it mine. Christ wants me to do that. That is the reason Christ made me his” (Philippians 3:12 ICB). 

Godly goals give you hope. I once read a study about Holocaust survivors who had been through the hell of death camps. How did they survive? All of them had something in common: They had something to look forward to.

Godly goals give you a reason to endure, even through the most difficult times. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (NIV).

Godly goals give you the hope to keep moving forward, even when you feel like giving up.

I don’t know what you’re going through today. But no matter what life is like for you, you need a godly goal. Pursuing it will challenge your faith, develop your character, and build your hope.

Quítate lo Viejo y Ponte lo Nuevo

“En cambio, dejen que el Espíritu les renueve los pensamientos y las actitudes. Pónganse la nueva naturaleza, creada para ser a la semejanza de Dios, quien es verdaderamente justo y santo”. Efesios 4:23-24 (NTV)

Si quieres tener un cambio duradero en tu vida, tienes que empezar con tu cuerpo, y eso incluye tu forma de pensar para que honres a Dios a través de las cosas que piensas y permites en tu mente.

Efesios 4:23-24 dice, “En cambio, dejen que el Espíritu les renueve los pensamientos y las actitudes. Pónganse la nueva naturaleza, creada para ser a la semejanza de Dios, quien es verdaderamente justo y santo” (NTV).

Date cuenta de que hay un quitarse y un ponerse. Tu salud realmente se resume en detener algo que vienes haciendo y empezar algo que tienes que hacer. Deja de poner cosas negativas e hirientes en tu cuerpo, y comienza a ponerte cosas que edifican.

Deja de poner cosas negativas e hirientes en tu mente, y comienza a observar y escuchar las cosas de Jesús que te edifican y te hacen más como Él. En la renovación de tu mente, tienes que quitar, antes de poder poner.

Digamos que vas a una tienda a buscar un abrigo nuevo. Tomas uno y entras con él a un probador. Si ya estás usando un abrigo, no entras ahí y te pones el abrigo nuevo sobre tu viejo abrigo. Eso no sería sabio, ¡pues no vas a saber si te queda! Lo que tiene sentido es que te quites el abrigo viejo antes de ponerte el nuevo.

Eso es verdad espiritual, emocional y mentalmente, también. Te tienes que quitar lo viejo antes de ponerte lo nuevo.

¿Qué cosas necesitas quitar de tu vida, mente y cuerpo?¿Qué cosas nuevas necesitas para llenar tu mente y cuerpo? ¿Qué hábitos nuevos tendrás que desarrollar para lograr eso?¿De qué formas deseas ser más como Dios en “verdadera rectitud y santidad”?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Plan for Tomorrow but Live for Today

“Don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

Matthew 6:34 (NLT)

The good thing about the future is that it doesn’t hit you all at once. If you could see every event in your entire life (good and bad) laid out ahead of you, it would no doubt be overwhelming. So God gives it to you in bite-size, 24-hour segments.

Since God gives you only one day at a time, that’s how he expects you to approach your life. Live one day at a time, and make it count.

Jesus taught: “Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today” (Matthew 6:34 NLT).

Jesus is saying to stop borrowing trouble. If there’s something happening next week, why are you messing up today by worrying about it?

Worry can’t change the past. It can’t control the future. Worry only makes you miserable today.

God gives you all the grace you need—but just enough for today, every day. He doesn’t stockpile all that power in your life and give it to you for the next week or month. He says to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11 ESV) He wants you to take life one day at a time.

When you don’t know what the future holds, you can still take life one day at a time. That’s all you are meant to do!

When everything is uncertain and you don’t know how to make wise decisions for the future, then just take care of today. It’s important to plan, pray, and trust God for the future, but he expects you to put your energy into making today count too.

A great way to do this is to reduce your media intake. Focus instead on the things God loves and cares about, like your spiritual growth and caring for the people who need help right now. That’s how you make the day count.

God doesn’t want you to worry about tomorrow, but he doesn’t want you to consider it a guarantee either. ““Don’t brashly announce what you’re going to do tomorrow; you don’t know the first thing about tomorrow” (Proverbs 27:1 MSG). When everything else in life seems unclear, this is about as clear as you can get.

Plan for tomorrow but live for today. God will give you everything you need to be obedient in both.

Cuidar de tu Cuerpo es un Acto de Adoración

“Por lo tanto, hermanos, tomando en cuenta la misericordia de Dios, les ruego que cada uno de ustedes, en adoración espiritual, ofrezca su cuerpo como sacrificio vivo, santo y agradable a Dios”.   Romanos 12:1 (NVI)

Para que el cambio ocurra en cualquier área de tu vida, ya sea financiera, vocacional, educativa, mental o relacional, tienes que comenzar con lo físico.

¿Por qué? Porque tu cuerpo afecta tu comportamiento. Tus músculos afectan tu estado de ánimo y tu motivación. Tu fisiología puede afectar tu psicología.

Romanos 12:1 dice: “Por lo tanto, hermanos, tomando en cuenta la misericordia de Dios, les ruego que cada uno de ustedes, en adoración espiritual, ofrezca su cuerpo como sacrificio vivo, santo y agradable a Dios” (NVI).

El problema con un sacrificio vivo es que puede escoger salir del altar. Hacemos esto todo el tiempo. Nos ofrecemos a Dios, y luego nos retiramos. Este no es un ofrecimiento de una vez para siempre. ¡Tienes que hacerlo cuatro, cinco, o tal vez 10 veces al día!

Entonces, ¿cuál es “tu verdadera y adecuada adoración”? Hay tres cosas que puedes hacer con tu cuerpo que la Biblia dice que son actos de adoración:

Limpia tu cuerpo . La Biblia dice en 2 Corintios 7:1: “Limpiémonos de todo lo que pueda contaminar nuestro cuerpo o espíritu. Y procuremos alcanzar una completa santidad porque tememos a Dios” (NTV). Limpias tu cuerpo controlando lo que permites en tu mente a través de lo que miras y escuchas, y en tu cuerpo por lo que comes y bebes. Cuida tu cuerpo . Efesios 5:29 dice: “Nadie odia su propio cuerpo, sino que lo alimenta y lo cuida tal como Cristo lo hace por la iglesia” (NTV). Mantener tu cuerpo en forma es un acto de adoración a Dios. Controla tu cuerpo . “Cada uno aprenda a controlar su propio cuerpo de una manera santa y honrosa” 1 Tesalonicenses 4:4 (NVI). Controla tu cuerpo para que no te controle. No hay razón para decir: “¡No pude evitarlo!”.

You Take the First Step

“The priests will carry the Ark of the LORD, the Master of the whole world, into the Jordan ahead of you. When they step into the water, it will stop. The river will stop flowing and will stand up in a heap.”

Joshua 3:13 (NCV)

For God to make you successful in your destiny—being who he wants you to be, doing what he wants you to do, and possessing what he wants you to have—you must courageously step out in faith.

As Joshua and the Israelites were getting ready to cross the Jordan River and go into the Promised Land, God told them three times to be strong and courageous: “Be strong and courageous. . . . Be strong and very courageous. . . . Be strong and courageous” (Joshua 1:6-7, 9 NLT). 

God repeated himself because Joshua was going to have to overcome fear and discouragement to fulfill his destiny. And you will too. Fear keeps you from starting on the path God has for you. And discouragement keeps you from finishing and possessing the land.

But you can move forward boldly, like Joshua, because:

God is with you. You don’t know what you’re going to go through, but you can know that God will be with you. Joshua 1:5 says, “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you” (NLT).

God keeps his promises. That truth can give you confidence. Joshua 1:6 says, “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them” (NLT).

God has told you to do it. Joshua 1:9 says, “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (NLT). 

When Joshua and the Israelites got to the Jordan River, they probably expected God to part the waters like he had for Moses. But this time was different. God had told them, “When they step into the water, it will stop. The river will stop flowing and will stand up in a heap” (Joshua 3:13 NCV).

Here’s the point of the story: The first step is always the scariest. Often, you have to take the first step in faith in order to see God do the miracle.

Let me ask you a very personal question. What’s your Jordan River? In other words, what’s the big barrier you’ve got to cross in order to reach your destiny? 

Has God told you to do something, and you’ve been afraid to do it? God has said, “be strong and courageous.” He’s told you he’s with you, he keeps his promises, and he’s commanded you to do it. Now he’s waiting for you to step out.

Talk It Over

What’s keeping you in the desert? What’s keeping you from taking the first step to do what God has told you to do? 
What will taking a step of faith require of you?
What miracle might God do in your life if you’d only take the first step in faith?

Where will you spend eternity?

God’s great generosity is reflected in his gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace, through Jesus, that can get you back into right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).


If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I trust you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to you.

“I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
