La Obediencia es un Acto de Adoración

“Dios mío, enséñame a cumplir tus mandamientos, pues obedecerlos me hace feliz; ¡los cumpliré toda mi vida! Aclara mi entendimiento, y los seguiré de todo corazón”.  Salmo 119:33-34 (TLA)

Dios sonríe cuando le obedecemos de todo corazón. Eso significa hacer lo que Dios te pide, sin reserva ni duda. No posponer y decir, “Voy a orar por ello”. Hacerlo sin demora. Todo padre sabe que la obediencia tardía, es desobediencia.

Dios no te debe ninguna explicación o razón de todo lo que te pide que hagas, el entendimiento puede esperar, pero no la obediencia. La obediencia instantánea te enseñará más acerca de Dios, que toda una vida de discusiones de la Biblia. En realidad, nunca entenderás algunos mandatos hasta que primero los obedeces. La obediencia abre el entendimiento.

A menudo intentamos ofrecerle a Dios una obediencia parcial. Queremos seleccionar las órdenes que obedecemos. Hacemos una lista de los mandatos que nos agradan y los obedecemos, mientras ignoramos los que nos parecen irrazonables, difíciles, costosos o impopulares. Voy a la Iglesia, pero no diezmo. Voy a leer mi Biblia, pero no voy a perdonar a la persona que me hizo daño. Así que, la obediencia parcial es desobediencia.

La obediencia incondicional se hace con alegría, con entusiasmo. La Biblia dice, “Adoren al Señor con gozo” Salmo 100:2a (NTV).

Esta es la actitud de David: “Dios mío, enséñame a cumplir tus mandamientos, pues obedecerlos me hace feliz; ¡los cumpliré toda mi vida! Aclara mi entendimiento, y los seguiré de todo corazón” Salmo 119:33-34 (TLA).

Santiago, hablando a los cristianos, les dijo: “Dios nos acepta por lo que hacemos, y no sólo por lo que creemos” Santiago 2:24 (PDT).

La Palabra de Dios es clara sobre que no te puedes ganar tu salvación. Es solo por gracia, no por tu esfuerzo. Pero como hijo de Dios, le puedes dar gozo a tu Padre Celestial, mediante la obediencia. Cualquier acto de obediencia es también un acto de adoración.

¿Por qué es tan agradable para Dios la obediencia? Porque prueba que realmente lo amas. Jesús dijo, “Si me aman, obedezcan mis mandamientos” Juan 14:15 (NTV).

You Ought to Do Something about That

“If you put an end to oppression, to every gesture of contempt, and to every evil word; if you give food to the hungry and satisfy those who are in need, then the darkness around you will turn to the brightness of noon.”

Isaiah 58:9-10 (GNT)

When you look at the world around you, what irritates you? What hurts, injustices, or problems make you go, “That’s not right!” What is it that, if you could, you would change right now in society? What is it that keeps you awake at night? What disturbs you?

Everybody, at some point in their life, has what I call a SODSAT moment, when they say, “Somebody ought to do something about that!” In fact, nothing at all really happens until somebody has that kind of moment.

This happened for Esther when she heard that her people, the Jews, were going to be annihilated by Haman, an official in the king’s court. She thought, “Somebody ought to do something about that!”—and then she acted on it. Esther 4:4 says she was “deeply disturbed” (GNT) when she heard of people suffering because of the decree to kill the Jews. And she decided to risk everything and go to the king for help.

Are there things that deeply disturb you? I hope so! If someone says that nothing disturbs them, then it reveals a self-centered, isolated life lived outside of community with others. When you live an individualistic life, nothing disturbs you, unless it directly affects you.

God makes an amazing promise to those who get disturbed and decide to do something about it: “If you put an end to oppression, to every gesture of contempt, and to every evil word; if you give food to the hungry and satisfy those who are in need, then the darkness around you will turn to the brightness of noon. And I will always guide you and satisfy you with good things. I will keep you strong and well. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring of water that never goes dry” (Isaiah 58:9-11 GNT). 

Part of your destiny is to experience God’s goodness for all of your life. One way you do that is by sharing generously with those in need—by giving sacrificially from whatever God has blessed you with. When you live this way, you keep your eyes open for the opportunities all around you to lift others up and show them God’s loving care.

You get disturbed, and then you do something about it.

Talk It Over

What is one thing that disturbs you but that you have done nothing about? What is God telling you to do about it today?
What specific, unique blessings has God given you? Why do you think God has blessed you in those ways?
God says in Isaiah 58:11 that—as you work to respond to the needs around you—he will satisfy you with, “good things” (GNT). What do you think those good things might be?

Obedece a Dios usando tu Cerebro

“Pero (José) al oír que Arquelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de su padre Herodes, tuvo miedo de ir allá. Advertido por Dios en sueños, se retiró al distrito de Galilea, y fue a vivir en un pueblo llamado Nazaret”.   Mateo 2:22-23a (NVI)

El devocional de hoy es por Tom Holladay, pastor de enseñanza en la iglesia Saddleback.

Mucha gente piensa que vivir una vida obediente de fe significa poner tu mente en neutro y dejar que Dios te dirija donde quiera, como si fueras un robot. Eso no es cierto en absoluto.

La Biblia dice: “Ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma, y ​​con todas tus fuerzas y con toda tu mente” Lucas 10: 27a (NVI). Tienes que involucrar tu cerebro con Dios y vivir el tipo de vida que Él quiere que vivas.

Esto es lo que José hizo cuando obedeció el mandato de Dios de regresar a Israel. “Pero (José) al oír que Arquelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de su padre Herodes, tuvo miedo de ir allá. Nazaret es el lugar donde la Biblia profetizó que Jesús viviría, por lo que José estaba exactamente en el centro de la voluntad de Dios. Y llegó allí analizando la situación: la política, el hijo de Herodes como gobernante. Se dio cuenta de que no era un lugar seguro para estar y usó su discernimiento, en comunión con Dios, para tomar la decisión correcta.

Entonces, ¿de dónde deberíamos recibir el mandato de Dios para nuestras vidas? Tal vez no tengamos ángeles que se nos aparezcan para guiarnos, pero sí contamos con cientos y cientos de páginas de la Palabra de Dios. Para vivir una vida de obediencia, necesitamos conocer lo que Dios nos ha dicho.

Jesús habló de esto en Mateo 7:24: “Por tanto, cualquiera que oye estas palabras mías y las pone en práctica, será semejante a un hombre sabio que edificó su casa sobre la roca” (LBLA).

Tenemos la Palabra de Dios para ayudarnos a vivir una relación con Él. No es un libro seco de instrucciones; es la carta de amor de Dios para nosotros, una carta de un Padre llena de enseñanzas que nos muestra cómo vivir el tipo de vida que Él quiere darnos.

Al leer la Palabra de Dios, te animo a orar el Salmo 119:34: “Dame entendimiento para guardar tu enseñanza; ¡quiero obedecerla de todo corazón!” (DHH).

When You’re Tempted to Quit on God’s Dream, Keep Going

“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.”

Hebrews 11:7 (NIV)

You must not refuse to give up on the dream God gives you. Keep going, whether you feel like it or not. Don’t quit in the middle—sustain it for the long haul. It’s the middle of your life—not the beginning or the end—that determines whether you’ll finish successfully or not.

Society tells us, “Live for today; if it feels good, do it.” Nothing in our culture teaches us to think ahead. Planning ahead is rare. Thinking 10 years ahead? That’s revolutionary.

Here’s the truth: Everything takes longer than you think it will. That’s why, if you want to be in a different place 10 years from now, you have to start today. Right now. Because everything takes longer than you expect. 

Noah understood this. He worked for 120 years on the ark. He likely faced loneliness, fatigue, and discouragement, but he kept going. You’ll face similar challenges pursuing the dream God gives you.

The reason Noah endured was his faith. The Bible says, “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith” (Hebrews 11:7 NIV).

For 42,001 days, Noah focused on one goal: fulfilling his destiny. He stayed faithful to God’s plan, even when it felt repetitive, lonely, or hard.

Maybe you feel like giving up. Life is tough, but God’s message to you today is this: “Don’t quit.” He is in control, and the final chapter of your life hasn’t been read yet—though God has already written it. Don’t give up.

Galatians 6:9 reminds us: “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up” (NLT).

The key phrase is “at just the right time.” Success takes time, patience, and faith.

The ark is a symbol of salvation. Just as Noah’s family was saved in the ark, we are saved by being in Christ. Grace is first mentioned in Noah’s story. Faith in God’s grace—not our works—is the way to salvation.

The Bible says, “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9 NIV). Be one of those people. Stay faithful and fulfill your God-given destiny.

Obedecer a Dios Requiere que Tomes Riesgos

“Después de que murió Herodes, un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños a José en Egipto y le dijo: «Levántate, toma al niño y a su madre, y vete a la tierra de Israel, que ya murieron los que amenazaban con quitarle la vida al niño»”. Mateo 2:19-20 (NVI)

El devocional de hoy, es por Tom Holladay, Pastor de enseñanza en la Iglesia Saddleback.

Tan incómodo como lo fue para José mover a su familia a Egipto, imagínate el temor tan grande que tendría al obedecer el mandato de Dios, de regresar a Israel. Sería como regresar a la boca del león. Él tendría que tomar a María y a Jesús de regreso a donde la vida de su hijo estaría en peligro. Pero debido a que José confiaba en Dios y lo que le estaba pidiendo, José aceptó el riesgo y obedeció debido a que Él sabía que era el lugar donde debería estar.

La Biblia dice, “Cuando siento miedo, pongo en ti mi confianza” Salmo 56:3 (NVI). Nota que este verso dice, “cuando siento miedo”, no “si llegara a tener miedo”. Tal vez queramos vivir una vida sin temores en este mundo, pero eso sólo sucederá en el Cielo. En esta vida, todos vamos a enfrentar temores de una manera o de otra.

Tenemos temores grandes y pequeños. Le tememos al futuro, le tememos a lo que sucederá con nuestros trabajos y nuestras familias, y tememos a cosas pequeñas como si dijimos lo correcto a una persona, o si la presentación estuvo bien, o aún para hacer una llamada telefónica.

En todas esas situaciones, tienes que tomar una decisión. ¿Vas a permitir que el temor te controle, o vas a tomar el riesgo de fe debido a que sabes que tienes un Dios que te ama?

Ese riesgo de fe puede significar ir a un lugar donde nunca has estado o perdonar a alguien que no has podido perdonar; puede significar dejar tu trabajo o empezar un nuevo proyecto.

Un riesgo de fe también puede ser orar por algo o decidir confiar en Dios respecto a una situación o una relación a la que te has estado aferrando fuertemente.

¿Qué riesgos como los que Cristo tomó, te está pidiendo Dios que tomes en fe?

Do Exactly What God Tells You to Do

“Noah did all that the LORD commanded him.”

Genesis 7:5 (NIV)

Noah didn’t just hear God’s Word; he acted on it. He lived life according to God’s will.

Do you try to do that? Do you ask, “Lord, what do you want me to do today? What do you want me to do in this meeting? What do you want me to do with this opportunity?” Noah always sought God’s guidance in his actions.

Now, imagine you lived in Noah’s time and God asked you to build an ark. You’d probably have some big questions. I can think of at least four:

What’s a flood? The Bible says it had never rained before Noah’s time. Genesis 2 explains that God watered the earth from below, like morning dew. When God told Noah about a flood, it was a completely unimaginable concept.

How do you build an ark? In those days, there were no hardware stores or lumberyards. Noah had to cut and prepare every single piece of timber himself. That’s why it took decades to build the ark.

How do you move a massive ark to water? Noah lived far from the ocean. The Bible says the flood came not just from rain but also from underground springs bursting forth. The waters rose long after the rain stopped, solving the problem of moving the ark.

How do you gather all the animals? If God created the universe, bringing animals to Noah wasn’t a challenge. The real miracle was Noah’s obedience. Genesis 7:5 says, “And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him” (NIV).

What can we learn from Noah? God blesses obedience, even when it doesn’t make sense. Faith means trusting God when we don’t fully understand his plan. In life, you’ll face tempting shortcuts, especially during long periods of waiting or discouragement. Noah waited 120 years to see God’s plan fulfilled. His persistence reminds us that God’s timing is perfect. Don’t take shortcuts—trust and obey him completely.

“[Noah] obeyed God and built a large boat to save his family” (Hebrews 11:7 NCV). God honors unwavering faith and total obedience. When you follow his commands without compromise, he will bless you beyond your imagination.

La Obediencia es Incómoda, pero eso es Bueno

“Cuando (los sabios) ya se habían ido, un ángel del Señor se le apareció en sueños a José y le dijo: «Levántate, toma al niño y a su madre, y huye a Egipto. Quédate allí hasta que yo te avise, porque Herodes va a buscar al niño para matarlo» Así que se levantó cuando todavía era de noche, tomó al niño y a su madre, y partió para Egipto, donde permaneció hasta la muerte de Herodes”. José y María tuvieron que dejar muchas cosas debido a su jornada de fe. Ellos dejaron todo lo que conocían cuando se dirigieron a Egipto. Y en cierta forma, lo que estaban sacrificando era su comodidad a un nivel muy profundo.

A menudo no es cómodo confiar en Dios y seguir su plan, debido a que nos sentimos cómodos con las cosas equivocadas. Nos sentimos cómodos con nuestros pequeños hábitos y rituales, las cosas que nos detienen donde estamos en lugar de llevarnos a donde Dios quiere, para que crezcamos.

Si entregas tu salud a Dios, probablemente significará que debes renunciar a algunas de tus comidas favoritas. Si le entregas tus finanzas a Dios, probablemente eliminarás algunas cosas de tus gastos.

No es cómodo romper un hábito. Es incomodo enfrentar un miedo. Es incomodo ir a algún lugar en el que nunca has estado o perdonar a quienes te han herido. Pero crecer y cambiar siempre viene a través de hacer esas cosas incómodas, y eso es bueno.

Pero, si no tomamos esas decisiones, continuaremos aferrándonos a algo que nos hace sentir cómodos y terminaremos dándole la espalda a Dios, quién es la fuente del bienestar.

La Biblia dice, “Alabado sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre misericordioso y Dios de toda consolación” 2 Corintios 1:3 (NVI). Nota: Consolación es sentirte cómodo, o tener bienestar.

Te invito, como nunca antes, a reconocer que Dios es Dios de todo bienestar. Y en esos momentos cuando quieres darle la espalda a ese viejo hábito, tu antigua manera de vivir te intentará retener, habla con Dios y dile: “Dios, dame tu consolación”.

Listen to the Voice of God, Not the Voices of Doubt

“It was by faith that Noah heard God’s warnings about things he could not yet see.”

Hebrews 11:7 (NCV)

Voices of doubt will try to dissuade, detour, and derail you from you purpose in life. But you must listen to the voice of God, not the voices of doubt.

Imagine Noah’s life—building a battleship-sized ark in his front yard while everyone else carried on with their lives. His neighbors must have thought he was crazy. “What’s this guy doing? Building the Queen Mary in his yard? Where’s the homeowner’s association?”

Even Noah’s family probably questioned him.

His sons might have said, “Dad, the ark is embarrassing. Why can’t you get a normal job? Everyone’s laughing at us!”

Could you endure that kind of ridicule? Noah did, for decades, with no encouragement. But he listened to God, not the doubters.

Dream busters will always show up in your life. Critics, cynics, and even loved ones may question your God-given vision. Often, they’re wrong. 

But the biggest dream buster is often yourself. The words you speak to yourself matter. If you talked to your friends the way you talk to yourself—saying things like, “I’m no good,” “I should’ve known better,” or “I’ll never succeed”—you wouldn’t have any friends.

The truth is, we lie to ourselves all the time. The Bible says, “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9 NLT). We convince ourselves things are fine when they’re not, or hopeless when they’re not. That’s why you must listen to God—because he always tells the truth.

Hebrews 11:7 says, “It was by faith that Noah heard God’s warnings about things he could not yet see” (NCV).

Notice the word “heard.” Noah trusted what he heard from God, even though he couldn’t see the future. Similarly, you can’t see your future, but you must trust God. His Word is your guide. Faith is believing in what you can’t see—your destiny and your eternal future.

The Bible says, “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever” (2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT). 

Focus on what lasts forever, not on temporary troubles. Noah’s faith was counter-cultural, standing against the disbelief around him. How did he maintain such faith? He heard God.

You might say, “I don’t hear God!” The solution? Get closer to him.

The Bible says, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10 NIV). Turn off distractions. Sit quietly. Pray.

Only when you draw near to God can you truly hear his voice. Listen, and follow him. “Noah . . . walked faithfully with God” (Genesis 6:9 NIV).

Talk It Over

How can you prioritize listening to God’s voice over the voices of doubt and negativity in your life?
What steps can you take to strengthen your faith, like Noah, when faced with criticism or discouragement from others?
In what ways do you allow your own negative self-talk to derail your God-given vision, and how can you combat this with truth from God’s Word?

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Obedeces a Dios Confiando en Dios

“Pero (José) no tuvo relaciones conyugales con ella hasta que dio a luz un hijo, a quien le puso por nombre Jesús”.   Mateo 1:25 (NVI)

El devocional de hoy está escrito por Tom Holladay, Pastor de enseñanza en la iglesia Saddleback.

Algunas personas son buenas en lo inmediato. Pueden saltar directamente a cualquier cosa, pero no son buenos en “seguir constantes”. Y otras personas son buenas para persistir, pero les toma mucho tiempo llegar allí.

Para vivir la apasionante vida de fe que Dios planeó para ti, necesitas ser bueno en ambas, en lo inmediato y en la constancia. Y ambas cosas requieren que te mantengas confiando.

José no entendió lo que significaba para Jesús tener un nacimiento virgen; No entendía que Jesús sería Dios en carne humana. Pero él sabía lo que Dios le dijo que hiciera, así que José siguió confiando. Era un recién casado que no tuvo una luna de miel, y su nuevo matrimonio no era algo como lo había planeado, pero seguía confiando.

¿Qué vas a hacer cuando la vida no funcione como planeaste o como querías?

Siempre me animo por lo que el apóstol Pablo dijo en 2 Corintios 4:8, “Por todos lados nos presionan las dificultades, pero no nos aplastan. Estamos perplejos, pero no caemos en la desesperación” (NTV).

No sé por qué algunas personas son diagnosticadas con cáncer terminal. No sé por qué algunos hijos se rebelan tanto contra sus padres. No sé por qué suceden tantas cosas que no tienen sentido. Pero, es alentador escuchar a uno de los más grandes hombres de fe decir: “No sé por qué suceden las cosas como pasan, pero yo todavía elijo no darme por vencido”.

Es bueno saber que podemos confiar en Dios y que Él sabe cosas que nosotros no sabemos. Él ha prometido que un día pondrá todo en orden. Un día reunirá a todos los que confían en Él.

Hasta entonces hay dos maneras de vivir tu vida. Puedes vivir con la sensación de que Dios te debe una explicación o puedes vivir dándote cuenta de que Dios te ha dado grandes regalos.

Si vives la vida sintiéndote como que Dios te debe una explicación, sólo terminarás en un constante estado de amargura, porque Dios no te debe nada.

Pero, aunque no te debe nada, te ha dado todo. Te dio su propio Hijo. Te dio el regalo de la vida eterna. Te dio la promesa de estar con Él para siempre. Esos son grandes regalos.

Reflexiona sobre esto :  

¿Confías en Dios por las cosas que no entiendes? ¿Cómo es eso evidente en tu vida?¿Qué grandes dones te ha dado Dios?¿Cómo es que recordar los dones que te ha dado Dios te ayuda a recordar como confiar en Él?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? To Reach Your Dream, Dare to Be Different

“Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.”

Genesis 6:9 (NLT)

If you want to fulfill your destiny—if you want to achieve your God-given dream, vision, or ambition—you must dare to be different from your culture.

Until you settle this, you’ll never reach your dreams. You can’t fit in and be different or make a difference at the same time. You have to decide: “I’m willing to be different from the culture”—because the culture is headed one way, and God is heading another.

In Noah’s time, humanity hit rock bottom. It was morally bankrupt. 

Genesis 6:12 says, “God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt” (NLT).

Sound familiar? Genesis 6:5-6 adds, “The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. . . . It broke his heart” (NLT). 

Just 10 generations into human history, the world was already consumed by sin and evil.

What’s the trend today? Is the world moving toward God or away from him? It’s clear—it’s moving away. Jesus warned: “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day” (Luke 17:26 NLT).

Culture will only worsen as we approach Christ’s return.

Amid this darkness, God saw one bright spot: Noah. In The Message paraphrase, Genesis 6:8 says, “But Noah was different. GOD liked what he saw in Noah” (MSG).

That phrase—“but Noah”—saved the world. Would God save the world because of your faithfulness? If God looked at today’s corruption, would he see a bright spot and say, “But [your name]”?

Could God save the world through you?

Only two people have saved the world: Noah physically and Jesus spiritually. And, by the way, you’re related to Noah. Trace your family tree far enough, and you’ll find him.

What set Noah apart? He wasn’t concerned with others’ opinions, approval, or trends. He dared to be different to fulfill his destiny—and so must you. If you blend in with the crowd, you can’t fulfill the calling God has placed on your life.

Great people march to a different beat. They’re unafraid to stand out. Remember this: You can only make a difference by being different.

This is what God desires: to look at your life and smile, saying, “That’s my child fulfilling their destiny.” Like Noah, live with integrity. Let your difference make a difference.
