Convierte el Fracaso en Triunfo

“Quien esconde su pecado jamás puede prosperar”. Proverbios 28:13 (TLA)

Usualmente pensamos en el fracaso como algo negativo. Pero las personas sabias saben cómo sacar ventaja de ello. Aprenden de ello. Lo usan como escuela para educarse. El fracaso es una de las primeras herramientas que Dios usa en tu vida para hacer que tú hagas lo que Él quiere que hagas.

¿Cómo puede ser bueno el fracaso? Dios usa el fracaso para educarnos. Los errores son experiencias de aprendizaje. Algunas lecciones solo pueden ser aprendidas a través del fracaso. La Biblia dice “Quien esconde su pecado jamás puede prosperar” Proverbios 28:13 (TLA).

Si no estás cometiendo errores, no estás creciendo o aprendiendo. Si no tomas riesgos, no estás creciendo. La libertad del temor al fracaso es la libertad para crecer.

Dios usa el fracaso para motivarnos “… porque el castigo hace cambiar a la gente” Proverbios 20:30b (PDT). A menudo cambiamos cuando sentimos el calor, no cuando vemos la luz. Cuando te equivocas, Dios tal vez está intentado llamar tu atención para que te muevas en una nueva dirección.

Dios usa el fracaso para construir tu carácter. “Pero hay más, podemos sentirnos felices aun cuando tenemos sufrimientos porque los sufrimientos nos enseñan a ser pacientes. Si tenemos paciencia, nuestro carácter se fortalece, nuestra esperanza aumenta” Romanos 5:3-4 (PDT).

El fracaso tiene una forma de suavizar nuestros corazones. Nos ayuda a crecer y ser maduros. Nos hace más sensibles hacia otros. Nos hace menos críticos y más comprensivos con quienes están heridos a nuestro alrededor.

El fracaso no hace que tu carácter crezca automáticamente. El fracaso hace que algunos solo se vuelvan amargados. Pero el fracaso fortalece tu carácter cuando respondes correctamente y aprendes de ello.

To Grow, Choose to Change

“Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.”

Ephesians 4:22 (NLT)

Change requires making choices. It’s not enough to dream of changing. It’s not enough to desire change. To change, you need to make a decision. You must choose to change.

Change is intentional. Are you going to be any different in six months? Are you going to be better a year from now? Are you going to be healthier, stronger, and more mature? Are you going to be happier? Are you going to be less in debt? Are you going to be more like God wants you to be?

I can tell you the answer right now: These changes will only happen if you choose to change—because change doesn’t happen accidentally.

Change requires a choice. 

A lot of times we think we’re waiting on God to change us. No! God is waiting on you. He’s waiting on you to say, “Yes, Lord, I’m willing to make these changes.”

You will need to make intentional choices in order to grow. There is no growth without change. There is no change without loss, and there is no loss without pain. If you are going to grow, you will have to change. And change means you let go of some old things in order to grab hold of some new things.

It’s like swinging on a trapeze. The trapeze artist swings out on one bar and then has to reach out and grab the other one. At some point, he’s got to let go of the first one in order to grab the next one, or he won’t make it to the other side. If he tries to hold on to both, what happens? He gets stuck in the middle, and he will fall.

Some of you are stuck in the middle, and you’re falling because you haven’t let go of the old patterns, the old habits, and the old ways of thinking. You have to let go of your old ways.

The Bible says, “Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life” (Ephesians 4:22 NLT). In other words, let it go. Those old habits, those old hurts, those old patterns, those old sins in your life—let them go. Throw them off and trust that God is working in you “to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” (Philippians 2:13 NIV).

Talk It Over

What change have you been waiting on God to make in you? What do you think your responsibility is to make that change happen?
How is accountability with other believers helpful in making the choice to change and then following through on it?
What do you need to do once you make the choice to change? What steps will help you move forward?

Have you trusted Jesus for your salvation?

God wants to spend eternity with you, so he made the way to him simple: You believe, and you receive. You believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins, and you receive him into your life. God sent his Son to earth to die for you.

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with:

“Dear God, I know that when I die I’m going to give an account of my life to you directly. I confess I have ignored you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and turn toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all I’ve done wrong so I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I ask you to save me from the sins and habits that are messing up my life right now. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Permanece en Constante Comunión con Dios

“Nunca dejen de orar”. 1 Tesalonicenses 5:17 (NTV)

Nunca desarrollarás una relación cercana con Dios solo atendiendo a la iglesia una vez a la semana o incluso teniendo un tiempo devocional diario. La amistad con Dios es construida al compartir todas tus experiencias de vida con Él.

Por supuesto, es importante establecer el hábito de un tiempo devocional diario con Dios, pero Él quiere más que una cita en tu agenda. Él quiere ser incluido en cada actividad, cada conversación, cada problema, e incluso cada pensamiento.

Puedes estar teniendo una continua e ilimitada conversación con Dios a través de tu día, hablando con Él acerca de cualquier cosa que estás haciendo o pensando en ese momento. El hábito de “nunca dejar de orar” de 1 Tesalonicenses 5:17 significa conversar con Dios cuando compras, manejas, trabajas o realizas cualquier otra actividad diaria.

Una idea equivocada muy común es que “pasar tiempo con Dios” significa estar a solas con Él. Por supuesto, como Jesús demostró, necesitas tiempo a solas con Dios, pero esa es solo una fracción de tu tiempo despierto. Todo lo que haces puede ser “pasar tiempo con Dios” si Él está invitado a ser parte de ello y te mantienes al tanto de Su presencia.

El libro clásico para aprender cómo desarrollar una conversación constante con Dios es La práctica de la presencia de Dios, escrito en el siglo 17 por el hermano Lawrence, un humilde cocinero en un monasterio francés. El Hermano Lawrence fue capaz de convertir incluso las tareas más cotidianas —como preparar comida y lavar los platos— en actos de adoración y comunión con Dios.

La clave de una amistad con Dios, él dijo, no es cambiar lo que haces, sino cambiar tu actitud hacia lo que haces. Lo que normalmente haces para ti mismo, comienzas haciéndolo para Dios, ya sea comer, bañarte, trabajar, relajarte, o sacar la basura.

A menudo sentimos que debemos ‘alejarnos’ de nuestra rutina diaria para poder adorar a Dios, pero eso es solo porque no hemos aprendido a practicar Su presencia todo el tiempo. El hermano Lawrence encontró fácil adorar a Dios a través de las tareas comunes de la vida; él no tuvo que irse a retiros espirituales especiales.

Este es el ideal de Dios. En el Edén, la adoración no era un evento al cual asistir, sino una actitud perpetua; Adán y Eva estuvieron en constante comunión con Dios. Como Dios está contigo todo el tiempo, no hay lugar más cercano a Él que donde estás en este momento. La Biblia dice, “y un Dios y Padre de todos, el cual está por encima de todos, actúa por medio de todos, y está en todos” Efesios 4:6 (RVC).

If You Want to Change, Then Face the Truth

“You have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him.”

Ephesians 4:21 (NLT)

The secret to personal change is not willpower. The secret is to know and face the truth. So, if you want to change, you must know and face the truth about yourself. You need to face the truth about your weaknesses, your relationships, your successes, your failures, your past, and your future. And that truth is found in Jesus Christ.

Nothing in your life can change until you know and face the truth. Why? It’s because behind every self-defeating habit in your life is a lie that you believe. 

If you’re in debt, it might be because you believed a lie like, “I can spend and get away with it” or “I can always pay it back.” You might have overestimated how much you were going to make, or you believed the lie that you needed a much bigger house.

But did you need that bigger house? Are you sure it’s the truth? Can you prove it’s the truth? Are you absolutely certain that what you’ve believed about your finances is true?

What about your relationships? What about the things you say to yourself about yourself? Is the way you think about your past true? 

Or is the truth what God says about these things?

The Bible teaches that personal change starts with truth. The truth sets you free. The apostle Paul said, “You have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him” (Ephesians 4:21 NLT). 

Who is the truth? It’s Jesus. And because Jesus is the truth, he will always tell you the truth. One of the ways he’ll most often tell you the truth is through his Word. Because the Bible is his Word, the Bible is truth. (You can read more about that in 2 Timothy 3:16-17.)

What you hear on television or read in books won’t always help you—because it’s not always the truth. In fact, if you consistently listen to what voices around you are saying, you’ll find your life built on a foundation of lies, misconceptions, deceptions, and half-truths. And you will never change.

But what God tells you is always the truth. God’s Word shows you how to get back to the life you were created to live, and then it shows you how to stay on God’s path. This is why it is so important for you to have a daily quiet time in the Word of God. Nothing will change until you get the truth into your heart.

Choose today to face and respond to the truth. Then you’ll begin to see positive change in your life.

Talk It Over

Where, other than God’s Word, have you looked for the truth about your life? How has that failed you?
When did God’s Word help you understand a truth about yourself?
What changes do you need to make to your schedule and priorities to spend time daily in God’s Word?

If you haven’t trusted in Jesus and committed to following him, why wait any longer?

Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that can get you back into right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).


If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. I’ve looked for the truth about my life in many places, but now I know the truth is only found in you. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I trust you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

“I want to live as you created me to and dedicate the rest of my life to serving you rather than myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Eres parte del Círculo Interno de Dios

“Ya no los llamo esclavos, porque el amo no confía sus asuntos a los esclavos. Ustedes ahora son mis amigos, porque les he contado todo lo que el Padre me dijo”. Juan 15:15 (NTV)

La palabra original griega para amigo en este versículo, no significa ser un conocido casual, sino una relación cercana y confiable. La misma palabra es usada para referirse al mejor amigo en una boda (Juan 3:29) y a un círculo interno de amigos íntimos y confiables de un rey. En las cortes reales, los sirvientes deben mantener su distancia del rey, pero el círculo interno de amigos confiables, disfrutan de un contacto cercano, acceso directo e información confidencial.

Es difícil comprender que Dios quiera que yo sea un amigo cercano. Pero la Biblia dice, “No adores a ningún otro dios, porque el Señor, cuyo nombre es Celoso, es Dios celoso de su relación contigo” Éxodo 34:14 (NTV).

Dios anhela que lo conozcamos íntimamente. De hecho, Él planeó el universo y la historia, incluyendo los detalles de nuestras vidas, para que pudiéramos ser sus amigos. La Biblia dice, “De un solo hombre creó todas las naciones de toda la tierra. De antemano decidió cuando se levantarían y cuando caerían y determinó los límites de cada una. Su propósito era que las naciones buscaran a Dios, y quizá acercándose a tientas, lo encontraran; aunque él no está lejos de ninguno de nosotros” Hechos 17:26-27 (NTV).

El conocer y amar a Dios es nuestro mayor privilegio y ser conocidos y amados es para Dios su mayor placer. Dios dice, “Pero los que desean jactarse que lo hagan solamente en esto: en conocerme verdaderamente y entender que yo soy el Señor… Y que me deleito en estas cosas” Jeremías 9:24 (NTV).

Es difícil imaginar cómo una relación íntima es posible entre un Dios omnipotente, invisible, perfecto y un ser humano pecador, finito. Es más fácil comprender una relación Amo-siervo, Creador-creación o aún Padre-hijo. Aun así, Dios nos quiere como sus amigos, y ese es un honor increíble.

Change Happens in God’s Power, Not Your Own

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”

Philippians 2:13 (NLT)

To experience God’s hope and comfort, you need to see who he is in order to see who you really are—it’s only then you’ll be able to see how he can change you.

Change often triggers two negative reactions. First, “I don’t have the time or energy to change.” Life feels too busy—too many responsibilities, too many diapers, too much to handle.

Second, “Who am I kidding? God can’t change me. I’ve tried a hundred times, failed, and feel like I’ve disappointed everyone, including God.”

Both reactions come from the false belief that change depends entirely on you. That mindset is exhausting and discouraging. If you have to sustain your own motivation to change every day, you’ll eventually give up. But God offers a better way.

Isaiah 40:28-31 reminds us where true power comes from: “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint” (NLT).

Real change isn’t about your power. It’s about God’s power working in you. Picture this: your efforts are like a hummingbird whose little wings are fluttering so fast. You flitter here for hope, there for hope, up for hope, down for hope—trying to get hope in your life.  You’re worn out by trying to get to a place of hope on your own.

But God’s power is like an eagle, soaring on the updrafts of wind. Eagles don’t struggle—they rise because they are designed to catch the wind. Similarly, God designed your soul to soar on the updraft of his love, not your own striving.

To tap into his power, you must stop flitting from one place to another in search of hope and instead say, “God, I need you. I trust you moment by moment.” That’s when you’ll feel the updraft of his love, strength, and power.

Philippians 2:13 says, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” (NLT). God gives you the desire to change, even when you don’t feel it, and he also gives you the power to take the next step. Change happens when you stop relying on your own strength and start trusting in God’s strength and power to transform your life.

Hope doesn’t come not from trying harder, but from trusting deeper. God wants you to remember this truth and to continually turn back to him because he is the one who gives you strength to soar.

Puedes Experimentar una Amistad con Dios

“Pues, como nuestra amistad con Dios quedó restablecida por la muerte de su Hijo cuando todavía éramos sus enemigos, con toda seguridad seremos salvos por la vida de su Hijo”. Romanos 5:10 (NTV)

Tu relación con Dios tiene varios aspectos diferentes: Dios es tu Creador y tu Hacedor, Señor y Maestro, Juez, Redentor, Padre, Salvador, y muchos más. (Ver Salmo 89:26, 95:6, 136:3; Isaías 33:22, 47:4; Juan 13:13, 1 Juan 3:1; Judas 1:4)

Pero la verdad más impactante es esta: ¡El Dios Todopoderoso anhela ser tu amigo!

En el Edén vemos la relación ideal de Dios con nosotros: Adán y Eva disfrutaron una relación íntima con Dios. No había rituales, ceremonias ni religión; solo una sencilla y amorosa relación entre Dios y las primeras personas que Él creó. Sin ser obstaculizados por la culpa o el miedo, Adán y Eva se deleitaban en Dios y Él se deleitaba en ellos.

Fuimos hechos para vivir en la presencia continua de Dios. Pero después de caer en el pecado, esa relación ideal se perdió. Solo pocas personas en los tiempos del Antiguo Testamento tuvieron el privilegio de tener una amistad con Dios. Moisés y Abraham fueron llamados “amigos de Dios”, David fue llamado “un hombre conforme a mi corazón” y Jacob, Enoc y Noé tuvieron amistades íntimas con Dios (Ver Génesis 5:22, 6:8; Éxodo 33:11,17; 2 Crónicas 20:7; Job 20:4; Isaías 41:8; Hechos 13:22; Santiago 2:23).

Sin embargo, en el Antiguo Testamento predominaba más el temor a Dios que la amistad con Él. Luego Jesús cambió la situación. Cuando Él pagó por nuestros pecados en la cruz, el velo en el templo que simbolizaba nuestra separación de Dios fue partido de arriba hacia abajo, indicando que el acceso a Dios una vez más estaba disponible.

A diferencia de los sacerdotes del Antiguo Testamento que tenían que pasar horas preparándose para un encuentro con Dios, ahora nosotros nos podemos acercar a Dios en cualquier momento. La Biblia dice, “Así que ahora podemos alegrarnos por nuestra nueva y maravillosa relación con Dios gracias a que nuestro Señor Jesucristo nos hizo amigos de Dios” Romanos 5:11 (NTV).

La amistad con Dios es posible solamente por la gracia de Dios y el sacrificio de Jesús. “Y todo esto es un regalo de Dios, quien nos trajo de vuelta a sí mismo por medio de Cristo. Y Dios nos ha dado la tarea de reconciliar a la gente con él” 2 Corintios 5:18 (NTV).

Un antiguo himno dice, “¡Oh, qué amigo nos es Cristo!” Hoy, Dios nos invita a disfrutar de su amistad y comunión con las tres personas de la Trinidad; el Padre (1 Juan 1:3), el Hijo (1 Corintios 1:9), y el Espíritu Santo (2 Corintios 13:14).

God’s Love Is Unconditional and Eternal

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)

Understanding who God is and that he loves you with an everlasting love is the foundation for a life filled with hope. But it is also important that you admit who you really are—someone loved by God in spite of all your faults and failures.

God already knows everything about you; he just wants you to be honest with yourself. 

The truth is, you’re broken. I’m broken. We’re all broken. We live in a fallen world. Romans 3:23 says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard” (NLT).

Deep down, we all know this. No one claims to be perfect. But instead of being honest, we spend a lot of energy trying to hide our brokenness.

Luke 12:2 reminds us, “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known” (NKJV). Eventually, the truth comes out, so why pretend? In the end, we’ll all realize we’re in the same boat—broken and in need of God’s grace.

But that’s not the whole story. Even though you are broken, you are also loved by the One who knows you best. God’s love is different from human love. Human love fades and fails. Some people even act like you have to earn their love. 

But God’s love is unconditional and freely given. Jeremiah 31:3 says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness” (NIV). No matter what, God will never stop loving you.

The Bible also says, “Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” (Romans 3:24 NLT). This is a gift, not something you earn.

There’s nothing you can do to make God love you more and nothing you can do to make him love you less. He already loves you as much as you can possibly be loved—with an infinite, eternal love.

If you haven’t received this gift, it starts with a simple prayer: “God, I want your forgiveness, your relationship, and the life only you can give.” That’s the foundation for real hope.

For those who already know this truth, life’s circumstances can still make you feel unloved. But the most lasting truth about you is this: You are loved by God.

Being honest about who you are also means recognizing that sometimes you must feel worse to feel better. Tough conversations, admitting failures, or letting go of false sources of happiness can bring grief. But this mourning leads to comfort, and this grief opens the door to real joy.

Matthew 5:4 promises, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (NIV).

Real hope comes from seeing who you really are: broken, but deeply loved by God. Hold onto that truth every day, no matter what life throws at you.

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and turn toward you.

“Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place.

“Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

¿Cómo puedo Arreglar todo con Dios?

“Si declaras abiertamente que Jesús es el Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de los muertos, serás salvo. Pues es por creer en tu corazón que eres hecho justo a los ojos de Dios y es por declarar abiertamente tu fe que eres salvo”. Romanos 10:9-10 (NTV)

La Biblia dice en Romanos 1:17, “Esa Buena Noticia nos revela cómo Dios nos hace justos ante sus ojos” (NTV).

¿Cómo Dios nos hace justos con Él? Esto se llama Evangelio y hay tres puntos.

Primero, no podemos hacernos justos.

El Cielo es un lugar perfecto, sin pecado, tristeza, maldad ni injusticia. Pero aquí está el problema: nosotros somos imperfectos, y Dios no puede permitir que personas con pecado entren al Cielo porque entonces también estaría lleno de pecado.

Romanos 3:20 dice, “Pues nadie llegará jamás a ser justo ante Dios por hacer lo que la ley manda. La ley sencillamente nos muestra lo pecadores que somos” (NTV).

Las únicas personas que piensan que pueden cumplir las leyes de Dios son aquellas que no las conocen, porque las leyes de Dios son perfectas y ninguno de nosotros es perfecto. No podemos ser rectos por nuestra propia cuenta. Así que Dios tuvo que idear un plan.

Segundo, Dios envió a Jesús a pagar por nuestros pecados para que pudiéramos ser declarados justos.

Cuando infringes las leyes del hombre, pagas la pena del hombre. Cuando infringes las leyes de Dios, pagas la pena de Dios, que es la eternidad en el infierno. Alguien tiene que pagar por todas las cosas que has hecho en la vida que lastiman a otras personas, a ti mismo y a Dios. Dios dijo: “Enviaré a mi Hijo, Jesús, a pagar la multa. Él tomará tu lugar para que no tengas que ir al infierno. De esta manera puedes estar conmigo para siempre”.

¿Entiendes por qué el Evangelio se llama Buenas Nuevas? Significa que todo lo que has hecho o harás mal en la vida ya ha sido pagado por Jesucristo en la cruz. Eres hecho justo ante Dios.

“[Dios] nos salvó, no por las acciones justas que nosotros habíamos hecho, sino por su misericordia” Tito 3:5 (NTV).

Tercero, tenemos que aceptar por fe lo que Dios hizo por nosotros.

Para ser justificados ante Dios, solo debes creer y aceptar por fe que Jesús pagó por tus pecados en la cruz. Entonces, eres parte de la familia de Dios. Puedes vivir como Él quiere que vivas ahora y luego ir al Cielo en la eternidad. Eso es justicia.

Romanos 10:9-10 dice, “Si declaras abiertamente que Jesús es el Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios lo levantó de los muertos, serás salvo. Pues es por creer en tu corazón que eres hecho justo a los ojos de Dios y es por declarar abiertamente tu fe que eres salvo” (NTV).

Reflexiona sobre esto :

Dios ofrece el regalo del perdón a todos, sin importar quiénes somos o cuán lejos hayamos estado de Él. Su gracia es para todos.

Hoy es el día para resolver esto. Si no estás seguro de cómo ir al Cielo cuando mueras, haz esta oración: “Dios mío, gracias por haberme creado, sé que tienes un plan y un propósito para mi vida y que me hiciste para conocerte… Gracias por ofrecerme tomar la decisión de aceptar o rechazar tu Salvación. Hoy humildemente te pido que me salves, no por lo bueno que yo haya sido, sino por lo que Jesucristo hizo por mí. No lo entiendo todo, pero quiero confiar en tu Hijo. Dios, quiero conocerte. Quiero aprender a amarte. Quiero tener hambre y sed de justicia el resto de mi vida. Pongo mi confianza en tu gracia y en tu perdón. Quiero que seas el Señor de mi vida. Amén”.

Seeing Who God Really Is Brings Comfort and Hope

“If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?. . .Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?”

Romans 8:31-32, 35 (NIV)

How do you know you can trust God to comfort you? Only by seeing him as he really is. If you think God is out to condemn you, you’ll never trust him. Yet, the truth is, “If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32 NIV).

You may feel like God is always watching, waiting for you to mess up. Maybe that’s how you see God because of past experiences. But the question is this: will you trust your feelings or the truth of who God is? 

Romans 8:34 continues to remind us that God really is for us: “Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us” (NLT). 

Jesus lived, died, and rose again to save you, not to condemn you. When your feelings tell you otherwise, they are lying.

Who is God really? Psalm 86:15 says, “You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness” (NIV). God doesn’t minimize your hurts, and he doesn’t shame you for your habits. He sees your struggles and it’s as if he’s saying, “I can help you through this.” He is a compassionate God. 

The Message Paraphrase says God is the “Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort—we get a full measure of that, too” (2 Corinthians 1:3–5).

One way to experience God’s love in a tangible way is by surrounding yourself with other believers who know, love, and have trusted God. It’s in godly community that you can listen to one another, share honestly, and point each other toward your compassionate, loving God.

To experience true hope, you must see who God really is. Hope begins when you begin seeing him clearly.
