Cómo orar Efectivamente

“Te suplico que recuerdes lo que le dijiste a tu siervo Moisés: ‘Si me son infieles los dispersaré entre las naciones; pero si vuelven a mí y obedecen mis mandatos y viven conforme a ellos . . . yo los volveré a traer al lugar que elegí para que mi nombre sea honrado’”. Nehemías 1:8-9 (NTV)

Aquí hay cuatro secretos para la oración respondida basados en la vida de Nehemías:

Basa tu petición en el carácter de Dios. Ora sabiendo que Dios te responderá: “Espero que contestes esta oración por quién Tú eres. Eres un Dios fiel. Eres un gran Dios. Eres un Dios amoroso. Eres un Dios maravilloso. ¡Dios, tú puedes manejar este problema!Confiesa los pecados de los que estás consciente. Después de basar su oración en quién es Dios, Nehemías confiesa sus pecados diciendo: “Confieso que hemos pecado contra ti. ¡Es cierto, incluso mi propia familia y yo hemos pecado! Hemos pecado terriblemente al no haber obedecido los mandatos, los decretos y las ordenanzas que nos diste” Nehemías 1:6-7 (NTV). Nehemías no fue responsable de que Israel cayera en cautiverio. Ni siquiera había nacido cuando sucedió; lo más probable es que nació en cautiverio. Sin embargo, se está incluyendo a sí mismo en los pecados nacionales. Él dice: “He sido parte del problema”.Reclama las promesas de Dios. Nehemías ora al Señor y le dice: “Te suplico que recuerdes lo que le dijiste a tu siervo Moisés” Nehemías 1:8 (NTV). ¿Te imaginas decirle a Dios que “se acuerde” de algo? Nehemías le recuerda a Dios una promesa que hizo a la nación de Israel. En efecto, él ora: “Dios, tú advertiste a través de Moisés que, si somos infieles, perderíamos la tierra de Israel. Pero también prometiste que, si nos arrepentíamos, nos la devolverías”.
¿Es que Dios necesita que le recordemos las cosas? No. ¿Olvida lo que ha prometido? No. Entonces, ¿por qué hacemos esto? Porque nos ayuda a nosotros a recordar lo que Dios ha prometido.Sé específico en lo que pides. Si quieres respuestas concretas a la oración, haz peticiones específicas. Si tus oraciones consisten en peticiones generales, ¿cómo sabrás si son contestadas?

Christ is the Only Way to Freedom

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

Galatians 5:1 (NIV)

God wants you to live a life of freedom. He wants you to break free from the habits that control you and drag you down. He wants you to live without the pain and hurt that holds you captive to the past. He wants you to breathe in the fresh air of freedom that God provides through Christ. 

The Bible tells us, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free” (Galatians 5:1 NIV).

This freedom is based on choosing hope—choosing to believe that God exists, that you matter to him, and that he has the power to help you change and set you free. 

But God’s path to freedom is very different from ours. We often think freedom comes through escape. We try to find comfort and hope as quickly as possible—avoiding the process God uses to bring true healing.

For some, escape means alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography, shopping, food, or even work. Even self-pity can become an escape, pulling us into dark places where we think we’ll find relief.

But these temporary escapes only provide momentary relief. In the end, they leave us empty—or even addicted.

God’s path to freedom requires that we face our faults, our hurts, or the habits that control us. In fact, God wants us to mourn these things. Mourning means you admit what you’ve lost and what you’ve messed up. It means you stop pretending you can escape your way into freedom and admit that this world cannot provide you with real and lasting freedom.

Only God can.

The moment you admit and mourn these things, God can bring you real comfort and strength. And that will lead to freedom as God transforms your life. Matthew 5:4 says: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (NIV).

Here’s the truth: it is an illusion to think you can escape into a comfortable life that will lead to freedom. You can only get there through God—by admitting you’re lost and facing what is true and real so God can meet you there.

Consider this prayer: “Lord, help me accept that my only hope for freedom comes through you. Help me to stop escaping and start trusting you. Help me to see that you are the only path to freedom and hope. Amen.”

Talk It Over

What does true freedom in Christ mean to you, and how have you experienced it in your life?
What are some ways you may have sought escape rather than facing your pain or struggles? How did those escapes affect you in the long run?
How can acknowledging your hurts, faults, or losses open the door for God to bring real comfort and healing?

If you haven’t trusted in Jesus, why wait any longer?

Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that can get you back into right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).


If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. I’ve looked for the truth about my life in many places, but now I know the truth is only found in you. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I trust you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

“I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Dios siempre está Presente, sin Importar cómo te Sientas

“Desnudo salí del vientre de mi madre, y desnudo he de partir. El Señor ha dado; el Señor ha quitado. ¡Bendito sea el nombre del Señor!” . Job 1:21 (NVI)

Cuando eres un cristiano inmaduro, Dios te da muchas emociones de confirmación y a menudo responde a las oraciones más inmaduras y egocéntricas para que sepas que Él existe. Pero a medida que creces en la fe, Él te separará de estas dependencias.

La omnipresencia de Dios y la manifestación de Su presencia son dos cosas diferentes. Una es un hecho; la otra es a menudo un sentimiento. Dios siempre está presente, incluso cuando no lo sientas Su presencia es demasiado profunda para ser medida por una simple emoción.

Sí, Dios quiere que sientas su presencia, pero anhela más que confíes en Él. Vivimos por la fe, no por vista ni por nuestros sentimientos.

Los momentos en los que más ejercitas tu fe son aquellos en los que la vida se desmorona y parece que Dios está ausente. Esto le pasó a Job. En un solo día perdió todo: su familia, su negocio, su salud y todas sus posesiones. Luego, por 37 capítulos, ¡Dios no dijo nada!

¿Cómo alabas a Dios cuando no entiendes lo que está sucediendo en tu vida y Dios está en silencio? ¿Cómo te mantienes conectado en una crisis sin comunicación? ¿Cómo mantienes tus ojos en Jesús cuando están llenos de lágrimas? Haz lo que hizo Job: “luego se dejó caer al suelo en actitud de adoración. Entonces dijo: “Desnudo salí del vientre de mi madre, y desnudo he de partir. El Señor ha dado; el Señor ha quitado. ¡Bendito sea el nombre del Señor!” Job 1:21 (NVI).

Dile a Dios exactamente cómo te sientes. Derrama tu corazón delante de Él. Entrega todas las emociones que sientas. Job hizo esto cuando dijo: “No puedo evitar hablar; debo expresar mi angustia. Mi alma llena de amargura debe quejarse” Job 7:11 (NTV).

Job gritó cuando Dios parecía distante: ¡Qué días aquellos, cuando yo estaba en mi apogeo y Dios bendecía mi casa con su íntima amistad!” Job 29:4 (NVI).

Dios no se aleja de tus dudas, enojo, miedo, pena, confusión o preguntas. Él puede manejarlas.

Fears Keep You Trapped—but There’s Help!

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

James 5:16 (NLT)

Many people hide their fears because they think, “No one would understand what I’m going through.” But that kind of thinking keeps you stuck. And “stuck” is right where Satan wants you to be. So he uses your fears to trap you and keep you from asking for help from God and from other believers.

There are three fears Satan uses to keep you trapped. 

First, there’s the fear of your own emotions. You might think, “If I face this issue—this hurt, memory, or sin—I won’t be able to handle the emotions. I might fall apart, lose control, or even struggle with my mental health.”

Let me reassure you: At some point, just about everyone fears not being able to handle strong emotions. But you can—especially with God’s help and the support of fellow believers. We all are in this life together—so we can stop pretending we have it all together when we don’t and, instead, rely on each other for support.

Second, there’s the fear of how others will react. You might think, “If I’m honest, people will judge me, reject me, or abandon me. It’s scary because, if I reveal who I really am, and you don’t like it, I’ve got nothing left.” But you don’t need to fear rejection or disapproval. Remember, as Romans 8:31 teaches, God is for you. And when you’re honest with others, that often helps them relate to your struggles and, in turn, deepens your relationship.

Third, there’s the fear that honesty won’t help. You might think, “What’s the point? Why share? It won’t change anything.” But here’s the truth: God promises healing when we confess. James 5:16 says, “Confess your faults to one another and pray for each other so you may be healed” (NLT). God isn’t a liar. If you’ve never found freedom, it’s because you’ve never been fully honest. Healing starts with humility and confession.

So, how bad does it have to get before you ask for help? Pain is often the acid that eats through the walls of denial. If you’re at the end of your rope, congratulations—that’s the best place for change to begin. Remember, Christ died to give you grace, and grace is the power to change. Now is the time to take the first step.

Talk It Over

How have you supported someone else when they’ve experienced difficult emotions? How did that strengthen your relationship?

¿Por qué Debemos Preocuparnos por estar Bien con Dios?

“Porque en el evangelio se revela la justicia de Dios, que de principio a fin es por medio de la fe, tal como está escrito: «El justo por la fe vivirá»”.  Romanos 1:17 (RVC)

Justicia es una gran palabra en la Biblia. Se usa cientos de veces. La Biblia dice que Dios ama la justicia y que Dios es justo. Dice que un día Dios juzgará al mundo con justicia. El Salmo 23 dice que Dios nos guía por los caminos de la justicia.

Entonces, ¿qué significa esta palabra en el mundo?

Una vez lo busqué en un diccionario teológico, ¡y había 27 páginas en la definición! Pero lo resumiré en dos palabras: La Justicia es una relación y un estilo de vida.

La justicia simplemente significa estar bien con Dios. Romanos 1:17 dice: “Porque en el evangelio se revela la justicia de Dios” (RVC). La Buena Nueva es que Dios nos hace estar bien con Él a través de la muerte de Jesús, Él pagó por nuestros pecados. Debido a la muerte de Jesús, podemos tener una relación personal con Dios.

La justicia es también un estilo de vida. Significa vivir bien como Dios quiere. La Biblia dice en 1 Juan 2:29, “Si reconocen que Jesucristo es justo, reconozcan también que todo el que practica la justicia ha nacido de él” (NVI).

Entonces, ¿por qué deberías preocuparte por estar bien con Dios? Porque es la única manera de vivir, y es la única forma de ir al Cielo.

Cuando estás desconectado de Dios, no estás realmente viviendo; ¡Solo existes! La mayoría de las personas en el mundo no están realmente completamente vivas. Solo existen, intentando llegar al fin de semana. Pero estar desconectado de tu Creador es una tontería.

La vida no se trata de acumular cosas ni de alcanzar metas. La vida se trata de conocer a Dios, el que te ama y te hizo con un propósito. No estarás viviendo realmente hasta que estés bien con Dios y tengas una relación con Él.

La justicia es también la manera en que llegas al Cielo. Dios creó el Cielo como un lugar para sus hijos que Él ama, y Dios quiere que estés con Él para siempre. Dios quiere que estés en el Cielo, pero no te va a obligar a ir al Cielo. Puedes elegir desconectarte de Dios aquí en la Tierra, pero cuando tu vida termine, no tendrás una segunda oportunidad para decidir dónde pasarás la eternidad.

No puedes culpar a Dios, porque Él te da la opción ahora mismo de tener una relación con Él. ¡Dios quiere que elijas amarlo! Y cuando lo hagas, estarás bien con Él. ¡Tu vida cambiará aquí en la Tierra y por toda la eternidad!

Healing Happens in Community

“So then, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed.”

James 5:16 (GNT)

You can’t overcome your fears and failures on your own. God designed you to need other people. That’s why you need to be honest—not just with God, but with other people—about your temptations, defects, fears, and hurts.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” (NIV) We’re wired to need each other. You were never meant to face life’s problems alone.

In the New Testament, “one another” appears 58 times. We’re told to love one another, help one another, pray for one another, and encourage one another. That’s what churches and small groups are for. We’re not just believers; we’re belongers. We only find real healing in community because God wired us to need each other.

Your community of believers can carry you through anything—even a crisis of faith. Job 6:14 says, “In trouble like this I need loyal friends—whether I’ve forsaken God or not” (GNT). When you struggle to believe, real friends say, “We’ll believe for you. We’ll carry you through this.” That’s the kind of friendship God wants for you. 

So how do you find healing in your small group or church? James 5:16 has the answer: “So then, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed” (GNT). Healing comes from sharing. Revealing your feelings is the beginning of healing.

This step is hard because of pride. You might think, “I’ll tell God, but not anyone else.” But here’s the truth: If you only want forgiveness, just tell God; but if you want healing, tell someone else. When you’re open with other people about your struggles, it humbles you. And that’s a good thing, because God gives grace to the humble.

If you want to see real change, you need to get honest—with yourself and with trusted believers around you. Healing happens in community.

Why is it important to admit your struggles to both God and someone that you trust?

Haz el Bien a Quienes se Oponen a Ti

“Amen a sus enemigos! Hagan bien a quienes los odian. Bendigan a quienes los maldicen. Oren por aquellos que los lastiman. Si alguien te da una bofetada en una mejilla, ofrécele también la otra mejilla. Si alguien te exige el abrigo, ofrécele también la camisa ”. Lucas 6:27-29 (NTV)

Cuando eres perseguido, acosado o te enfrentas a la oposición, debes responder con una bendición.

Jesús dice en Lucas 6:27-29: “Amen a sus enemigos! Hagan bien a quienes los odian. Bendigan a quienes los maldicen. Oren por aquellos que los lastiman. Si alguien te da una bofetada en una mejilla, ofrécele también la otra mejilla. Si alguien te exige el abrigo, ofrécele también la camisa” (NTV).

¿Quién hace eso? No hay mucha gente, realmente. Es lo que distingue a los cristianos, porque no es una respuesta natural, popular o fácil.

¡Se necesita mucho valor para hacer esas cosas! Cualquiera puede tomar represalias o decir algo malo.

Dios quiere que ames a tus enemigos, que hagas el bien a los que te odian, que bendigas a los que te maldigan, que ores por los que te lastiman y que pongas la otra mejilla. ¿Es eso fácil? No. Es el testimonio más poderoso, pero solo puedes hacerlo llenándote del amor de Dios.

La película “El mayordomo” muestra cómo los Jinetes de la Libertad, que lucharon contra el racismo en el Sur durante el Movimiento por los Derechos Civiles, entrenaron a las personas a no tomar represalias cuando fueran golpeadas, escupidas, maldecidas, empujadas o cuando las personas les arrojaran comida. Es una escena intensamente poderosa de tomar una postura no violenta.

Mientras miraba esa escena, las lágrimas comenzaron a caer por mi cara. Pensé: “Quiero ser esa clase de persona para Jesús. Quiero ser tan valiente. Quiero tener un corazón de coraje que no ceda ante lo que está mal, no importa lo que me tiren. Y quiero responder con amor”.

Cuando te niegas a tomar represalias y, en su lugar, respondes con amor, ya sea en el trabajo o con alguien que te rechaza, Dios se agrada de ti. Y vas a ser bendecido.

“Dios bendice a los que son perseguidos por hacer lo correcto, porque el reino del cielo les pertenece. Dios los bendice a ustedes cuando la gente les hace burla y los persigue y miente acerca de ustedes y dice toda clase de cosas malas en su contra porque son mis seguidores. ¡Alégrense! ¡Estén contentos, porque les espera una gran recompensa en el cielo! Y recuerden que a los antiguos profetas los persiguieron de la misma manera” Mateo 5:10-12 (NTV).

Jesús pagó un precio por ti. Seguirlo también tiene un costo. La popularidad en la Tierra no es parte de la garantía de ser cristiano, pero su recompensa en el Cielo es una garantía.

¿Cómo respondes a la idea de sufrir por Jesucristo? ¿Cómo afecta tu respuesta la forma en que manejas los insultos o la desaprobación?¿Por qué responder con amor y no con represalias es la forma más poderosa de testimonio de Cristo?¿Cómo has visto vidas transformadas cuando alguien ha amado a sus enemigos, orado por quienes lo han herido y respondido con gracia en lugar de represalias?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? God, Help Me!

“We felt we were doomed to die and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God, who alone could save us, for he can even raise the dead.”

2 Corinthians 1:9 (TLB)

At some point in life, you’ll find yourself in need of help. When that time comes, you first need to admit that you need help. And then you need to ask God for that help. In other words, move from “I need help” to “God, help me!”

When Paul, one of the greatest men of faith, hit rock bottom, that’s what he did. In the Living Bible paraphrase, Paul says, “We felt we were doomed to die and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God, who alone could save us, for he can even raise the dead” (2 Corinthians 1:9).

Think about that. If God can raise a dead person, then he also can raise a dead marriage, a dead career, a dead dream, or a dead hope. He specializes in turning crucifixions into resurrections. God can do miracles when we hand everything over to him.

Notice that Paul said, “We put everything into the hands of God.” Everything! This is total surrender. It’s not just saying, “God, fix my finances,” or “God, fix my relationships.” It’s giving him every part of your life—the good, the bad, and the ugly. 

Have you ever fully surrendered like that? Have you come to a point where you say, “God, I give you my entire life—my joys, my pains, my victories, and my failures”?

As a friend, let me warn you: Don’t wait until you hit bottom. Don’t let life force you into surrender. 

There’s an easy way and a hard way to change. The easy way is to see the light; the hard way is to feel the heat. Unfortunately, most of us resist change until the pain becomes unbearable. Don’t wait for everything to fall apart before you ask God for help.

The Message paraphrase of the Bible says it this way: “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule” (Matthew 5:3). When you finally let go, God steps in.

So here’s the process: First, admit you need help. Next, humbly ask God to take over. Then hand it all over—your problems, your pride, your pain—and watch how he can transform your life.

Talk It Over

Why do you think it’s important to move from “I need help” to “God, help me”?
Can you, like Paul, say that you’ve put everything in God’s hands? If not, what are you still trying to hold in your own hands?
The Message paraphrase says, “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope” (Matthew 5:3). When have you experienced God’s blessing when you’ve found yourself at the end of your rope?

Where will you spend eternity?

Your sins separate you from God. And it is only God’s grace that allows you back into a right relationship with him.

The Bible says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV).


If you’re ready to make peace with your Creator, then pray this prayer:

“Dear Jesus, I don’t want my sin to separate me from you any longer. You have promised that if I believe in you, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

“I confess my sin, and I believe you are my Savior. You have promised that if I confess my sin and trust you, I will be saved. I believe you when you say salvation comes by grace, through faith, and not by anything I do. I receive you into my life as my Lord. Today, I’m turning over every part of my life to your management.

“I want to live the way you created me to live and use the rest of my life to serve you instead of serving myself. I commit my life to you and ask you to save me and accept me into your family. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

¿Quién es la verdadera fuente de Oposición?

“Cuando corrijas a tus enemigos, hazlo con humildad. . . Se darán cuenta entonces de que cayeron en una trampa del diablo, y lograrán escapar”. 2 Timoteo 2:25-26 (TLA)

Cuando te enfrentas a la oposición a causa de tu fe, necesitas reconocer su origen.

No son las demás personas. No son tus compañeros de trabajo. No es un partido político. No es ninguna otra nación o religión. No es un competidor. La presión que sientes para rendirte o quedarte quieto o sentarte cuando deberías estar firme –esa presión no viene de otras personas. Realmente viene de Satanás.

En Apocalipsis 12:10. Satanás es llamado el acusador de los cristianos. Su trabajo número uno es derribarte.

Hay una batalla invisible alrededor tuyo. Esta presión para evitar que hagas lo correcto no viene en realidad de otras personas. Ellos solo son instrumentos. La mayoría del tiempo ni siquiera saben que están siendo utilizados. El verdadero problema es la batalla espiritual.

Efesios 6:12 dice, “Porque nuestra lucha no es contra seres humanos, sino contra … fuerzas espirituales malignas en las regiones celestiales” (NVI).

Satanás sabe que es inútil atacar a Jesucristo directamente, así que, en su lugar, ataca a sus seguidores. Él usa los medios de comunicación, la música, la cultura popular y cualquier cosa que pueda hacer para ridiculizar a quienes pertenecen a Jesús. Él está detrás de las voces diciendo: “Esos cristianos son obsoletos. Ellos están del lado equivocado de la historia. Ellos no saben de lo que están hablando. Son fanáticos”.

Si no tienes al Espíritu Santo en tu vida, no tienes defensa contra Satanás. Satanás puede dominar tus estados de ánimo, puede hacerte entrar en depresión, puede hacerte enojar.

Puedes creer que eres fuerte, pero no lo suficiente para defenderte por tu propia cuenta de los ataques de Satanás. Debes reconocer el verdadero origen del ataque: el mal, no la persona, y responder como lo hizo Jesús.

¿Cómo trato Jesús a aquellos que se oponían a Él? Incluso en la cruz dijo, “Padre, perdónalos. Porque no sabe lo que hacen”.

Las personas que te atacan no saben lo que están haciendo. Las personas que menosprecian a Jesús, la iglesia y al cristianismo, tampoco saben lo que están haciendo.

Al igual que Jesús, necesitas orar, “Padre, perdónalos” para que puedas demostrar amor aún bajo ataque y para que puedas tener más energía para pelear contra el verdadero enemigo.

Reflexiona sobre esto :

Si Satanás está detrás de las acciones equivocadas de las personas, ¿Por qué siguen siendo responsables ante Dios por lo que hacen?¿Cuál es el efecto físico, emocional y espiritual en ti cuando eres capaz de perdonar a tus enemigos?¿Cuáles son tus áreas de debilidad que Satanás ataca más fácilmente? Pídele a Dios crecer en fe en esas áreas y te dé fuerza para permanecer firme.Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? Admit the Truth and Be Set Free

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:32 (NIV)

Most of us don’t like the truth about ourselves. We love pointing out others’ flaws, but when it comes to our own, we avoid the truth, deny it, and fake it. Yet the truth, while painful at first, is what brings freedom and healing.

Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32 NIV). 

But how can we be truthful, especially about ourselves? Humility is the key. James says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6 NLT).

God’s grace gives you the power to change, but to fully receive God’s grace, you need to admit to four truths about yourself.

First, admit that you are broken. We’re all broken, and we live in a broken world where nothing works perfectly—not the economy, relationships, or even ourselves. We’ve been broken by sins we’ve committed, sins done to us, bad choices, and painful circumstances. Admitting this takes humility, but it’s the first step toward freedom and healing.

Second, admit that your secrets make you sick. David said in Psalm 32, “When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away. . . . My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat” (Psalm 32:3-4 NLT). Secrets drain your energy, worsen your problems, and keep you stuck. Hiding never works—it only intensifies your hurts, fears, and sins.

Third, admit your specific sins. Proverbs 28:13 says, “You will never succeed in life if you try to hide your sins. Confess them and give them up; then God will show mercy to you” (GNT). Change starts with honesty. You can’t fix what you won’t face.

Finally, admit that pride and fear keep you stuck. Like Adam in the garden, we hide and pretend because we’re afraid of being exposed. Pride says, “I don’t want anyone to know my weaknesses,” and fear whispers, “What if they do?” This cycle keeps us from growing, healing, and becoming who we’re meant to be.

Here’s the truth: Just because your “rottenness” doesn’t stink doesn’t mean it’s not there. We’re all broken. So stop faking it and start facing it.

When you humbly admit that you don’t have it all together, you open the door to God’s grace, healing, and transformation.

Talk It Over

Why do you think that secrets make you sick—spiritually, emotionally, and sometimes even physically?
In what ways do pride and fear keep you stuck?
When have you experienced the truth setting you free?

Have you received God’s forgiveness?

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’ve got a place in God’s forever family ready and waiting for you. The invitation is wide open. Just believe and receive.

Are you ready? Here’s a prayer you can start with: “Dear God, I know when I die, I’m going to give an account of my life to you. I know I have sinned against you, and I have lived by my plan, not yours. I want that to change, starting right now. I want to turn away from my sins and turn toward you.

”Thank you for sending Jesus to die for all that I’ve done wrong so I don’t have to pay the penalty. I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. I know only your grace can save me, Lord. I could never be good enough to get into a perfect place.

”Jesus, thank you for loving me so much that you took all my guilt on yourself. You made me acceptable for heaven, and I humbly ask you to save me. I believe in you, Jesus. And I believe you will keep your promise to save me instantly, certainly, completely, and eternally. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
