Exercise for people who don’t have time for the gym.
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags . Then try 50-lb potato bags and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I’m at this level). After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

Bound by the Past?
We are not bound by the past, but by our interpretations of the past. Interpretations limit, not the past itself. Events themselves are neutral. Change the interpretation, change the past. Because interpretations are a choice, the past can not bind because a different choice, creates a different interpretation. The past and tomorrow are being created, right now. How are you interpreting events, now. Who but you is to say today and tomorrow won’t be the best days of your life?

The Prayer Before Prayer, or Do Atheists Pray, Too?
Depends on what one calls ‘prayer.’ If yearning, focusing, wanting and working for something with one’s whole being might be considered ‘prayer’, then everyone prays. Resolutions, intentions, plans, goals and expectations may be viewed as prayers of power not insecure, fearful supplications. The one power called ‘God’ does not require supplication. It is done unto you as you believe, fully – spirit, head, heart and hand. It responds to us, as we respond to It. To know this is the prayer before prayer. Fearful, hopeful begging doesn’t work. Fully embodied intentions, goals and actions do. Go forth fearlessly, knowing this and contribute your talents to a world that works for everyone and everything. That is what we are here to do. Happy new year!

Be Careful of What You Ask For
Right? We all know this but…. Take ‘newness’ for example. Like Happy New Year. Newness is a double edged sword. We often get what we want but if it doesn’t look or feel like what we expected, we tend to reject it. Newness by definition is often outside our comfort zones. When newness arrives, be prepared to step out of your comfort zone to embrace it.

Shift Happens (All the Time) Doesn’t It?
“Behold, I make all things new,” Rabbi Jesus, is said to have said, speaking for the one power we call God. He didn’t say, ‘only once a year on New Year’s Day.’ All things made new, all the time. Why then, wait for once a year on New Year’s Day? Things can be new right now if we want them to be; no waiting required. A shift in consciousness, chosen over and over as we become aware of our old thought patterns, is what’s required. Behold, each thought is an opportunity to shift from ego to spirit and make things new. Haven’t you experienced this already? Why must it be a rare thing? Keep shifting and you’ll make many, if not all things, new.

Prayer as Spiritual Technology
Devorah http://www.HQPubs.com/books/devorah/ said: “What is known as ‘prayer’ is not an act of suplication or of overcoming the power we call ‘God’s’ reluctance, but an active acceptance of Its highest willingness.”

Lesbian Fifty Shades?
A few readers have written me that Devorah is a fine novel – memorable characters, spiritual insights, exciting action and adventure – with aspects of a lesbian Fifty Shades, see page 73. All of that is there, but my intent was to emphasize the spiritual, not the sexual; the characters growth and the both/and quality of their thinking. Read it and see for yourself.
