Emerge Series News: Who Wants a Story From Dax’s POV?
Happy Friday!
Last week, I sent out a newsletter with a giveawayinside. But I went one step further…
I’ve received numerous requests from readers who want a story from Dax’s POV. And while it’s not a story I can write quickly or in the very near future (because I’m on deadline for another story that I think readers want),I am willing to give readers something for your amazing dedication.
Here’s the simple incentive: If I get 50 reviews of Renaissance on Amazon by midnight tonight – March 11,...

Bill Gates Q&A on Reddit: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Other Stuff
I stumbled across a fascinating Q&A session with Bill Gates on Reddit while I was researching a particular subject for DECEIVED (Mindspeak #5) that I thought I’d share. You should browse through all the questions by CLICKING HERE, but here were a couple of my favorites:
1.) The first one is about the regulation of Artificial Intelligence.
The words in his answer that make me sit up and think: “dangers in terms of power and eventually control.” A thousand story ideas just came to mind with th...

What’s Your Love Life Like?
So, someone just tagged me to this:
And since I’m in the process of making sure the paperback version of Renaissance paperback is ready for publication, it was the closest:
All I can say about this is: Yikes! Especially when you read the whole first paragraph. Based on this, my love life kind of reminds me of Lauren Oliver’s Delirium trilogywhere there is a cure for love. Description to Delirium, first in the trilogy (in case you haven’t read it):
Before scientists found the cure, people...

What I’m Reading: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and Cold Cold Heart by Tami Hoag
Last Sunday, for book club, I finished Me Before You by Jojo Moyes on audio. Here’s the review I posted on Amazon, Goodreads, and iBooks:
I adored this book. I listened to the audio version, and it was near perfect. I have not stopped thinking about these characters, and it’s been several days since I finished the book. I will be listening to After You as soon as my heart is ready.
If you have not read this book yet, you totally should. Or listen to the audible boo...

What Will the Future Bring: Let’s Brainstorm
I like to brainstorm. As you can imagine, this comes in handy as awriter. I can brainstorm by myself, but I really like to get others involved in the process.I like to throw questions out there and see what kind of response I can get from people. Because multiple minds looking at an idea is way better than just one.
Remember a couple of weeks ago whenwe talked about Mark Zuckerberg and his plans to build his very own AI butler to help him run his home and with his work? He said “kind of like...

Will There Be a Fourth Book to the Emerge Series?
Popular question these days.
WhileI was writingRenaissance, I did think of an idea fora 4th book, and left an opening to do so.However, as of right now, I do not have plans on the calendar for another Emerge series book.
This same question was asked another way on Goodreads, and I gave a different answer, that is also true:
So you see, I’m not committed to my “no” answer just yet, but as of right now, I have a pretty exciting schedule of book writing in the coming months. Actually, I have mo...

Could the Emerge Series Really Happen? I Think So. And So Do the Experts.
I don’t know if you noticethe dedications inside the front covers of the books you read, but I wanted to highlight the dedication of Uprising today:
To healthcare workers on the front lines of fighting infectious diseases across the globe, I salute you.
I want to mentionthese healthcare workers and scientists because these are the people who could be the difference in preventing amajor outbreak of a deadly virus, keeping it contained, and even finding a cure or treatment.
In the video below, H...

Renaissance Release Week – Worrying About Things You Can’t Control
I’m a huge worrier.
There. I said it.
I try to let go. I try to only focus on the things I can control.
And sometimes… quite frankly… I’m a ginormous failure, and I get all worked up over the things that are far beyond my control, like the fact that NASA is still sticking to their theory that Pluto is no longer a planet. My entire childhood of science classes was ruined with that one.
And likeover the weekend. My husband and I were walking @JennyTheGolden, even though it was so cold outside t...

Inside a Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) Laboratory
I’m writing today, butas I was researching new and innovative ways to secure scientific laboratories for the next Mindspeak book, I came across the most amazing video.
The link below is for a video of the security of a Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) Laboratory. BSL-4 is a security level that is required of labs “that work with pathogens that pose a risk of life-threatening disease”— diseases such as the Ebola virus or small pox (because it is so contagious).
The video is long, but it is crazy inte...

Zika Virus, Dengue Fever, Ebola, Bad Sam – What Is the Government’s Role In Your Health?
The first time I ever felt pure terror that someone might die right in front of me was the day I saw an ultrasound of my first baby and there was no heartbeat. “It’s still too early,” the doctor said. Yet he continued to look for the tiny little flutter that would indicate that a small person was growing inside me. And continued to find no evidence of that life. “Go home. Get some rest. Don’t worry. It means nothing at this point. I’ll see you in a week.”
A WEEK!!?!??? Don’t worry? Was he ser...
