Shot in Darkness: Another Cover Reveal Plus Hints of What’s Coming

Things are moving so fast these days! Seriously fast! Shot in Darkness, an In Darkness novella, is in the final stages of production. This novella was written for a special anthology that will be available at the Romance Times Booklovers Convention. It is Book Four in the In Darkness series and will release in all formats on August 30, 2017 (unless you’re one of the lucky ones to receive it early at the RT Convention). I’m not kidding when I say: I LOVE THIS STORY. So much of Romeo is reveale...

Cover Reveal: Covered in Darkness

I couldn’t be more excited about the cover for book three of the In Darkness series. This cover by the extraordinarily talented Jessica Bell beautifully illustrates the opening scenes of Covered in Darkness, when a severe thunderstorm “reportedly” takes down part of the electric grid.

The Day a Reviewer Compared Me to Nora Roberts / J.D. Robb

I have loved Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb (who just happen to be the same person, in case you didn’t know) for a very, very long time. I’m pretty sure my mother introduced me to Nora Roberts’ books when I was old enough to read adult romance. Maybe even before, if truth be told. My mom was a huge fan of Danielle Steele, Sydney Sheldon, Nora Roberts, Mary Higgins Clark, and I’m sure many others. Those are the ones that stick out the most though. Out of those, I fell in love with Nora Roberts the...

An Intimate Excerpt from Exposed in Darkness

While Exposed in Darkness is a fast paced suspense, it’s not without its intimate scenes between Brooke and Declan. I love how USA Today reviewer explained the dynamic between these two powerful, yet sexy, characters in THIS REVIEW.

Since I’m currently writing the fourth book in this series, I loved being reminded of the following scene that USA Today included in their review:

There we were, standing in a parking garage, hidden between two SUVs, and breathing like we’d just outrun one of h...

Cut in Darkness: Chapter One PLUS an Even Longer Excerpt

Death didn’t break for a holiday weekend. Sometimes the body count actually increased.

So when a crowd formed in the vicinity of one of the Independence Day floats, I wasn’t surprised. In fact, as I jogged toward the disturbance to see if there was anything I could do to help, I was already coming up with a list of possible reasons for the crowd: some sort of dispute had broken out; someone had passed out from heat exhaustion due to the ridiculously high temperature; or, quite possibly, someo...

When Fiction Becomes Reality: Heroin Overdoses

Another sad case of heroin overdose spikes. This time in Louisville, Kentucky. These articles (like this one) break my heart. I did so much research into heroin laced with fentanyl or other dangerous and lethal substances, for Cut in Darkness that these articles bring me to tears. While I fictionalized the issue in my latest novel, I, in no way, want to minimize just how serious this issue is.   I truly hope our law enforcement – both local and federal – can continue to find ways to get...

Cut in Darkness Cover Reveal

What was I thinking???? We never really celebrated the cover art for Cut in Darkness. So I thought we would start the week with a book cover reveal for the next book in the #InDarkness series. I’m in love with this cover and this book. And I think Jessica Bell did an amazing job with the art. I’m currently working on final edits for Cut in Darkness, and will be giving everyone a sneak peek into the book very VERY soon! As early as this week, so stay tuned. (If you want to make sure you don’t...
