Meghan Markle Is Making Her Mark On the World (Oh, and She and I Are Sisters)
I have absolutely loved getting to know Meghan Markle over the past few days. Let the video below be an inspiration to those of us looking for a ways to be source of light and good in the world.
As a side note, I found out this morning, that Meghan Markle and I are sisters!! You can read more about that here.
As another side note, it’s a shame that Meghan is giving up acting. She would have made a fabulous Brooke Fairfax!
Now watch the video. Meghan is a lovely, lovely person.

Protected in Darkness – Chapters One, Two, and Three
First, a note about Protected in Darkness…
Protected in Darkness is a standalone novella. It is also a part of a much larger story. My hope is that you’ll enjoy this novella, and then check out the bigger story.
Though this special story isn’t set in Kentucky, it all began in Kentucky four years ago when Kate Ward hit rock bottom in her life as the daughter of the president of an outlaw motorcycle gang. Seeing no easy way out for herself or her unborn child, she made a deal with the OMG’s nu...

The Day I Told My Mother’s Church Friend I Wanted To Become a Bartender
Hi, Friends!
How are you today? I have a question for you. When you were young (young enough that it wasn’t possible for you to know what you wanted to be when you were no longer young), what was your answer to this question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
I always thought this was a ridiculous question. When I was in high school, this question really began to annoy me because I always felt like it was putting so much pressure on me and my friends.
So, my friends and I started mak...

That Time When I Was Interviewed by David Alan Binder
David Alan Binder interviewed me this week. Much of the interview consists of my thoughts about writing, getting an agent, and the publishing industry. I talk openly about what I would do differently in my career, whether or not I would get an agent if I were just starting out, and express many other opinions. I hope you’ll go give the interview a read, and then come back and let me know what you think.
You’ll find my interview HERE.

Protected in Darkness: New Novella Coming This November
A lot going on this Monday morning. I’m currently researching, outlining, and writing the next full-length book (Book #5) in the In Darkness series. This novel doesn’t have a title yet (well, it does, but I’m holding it close). Watch for an announcement soon. If you’ve read all four books so far in the series (especially the last page of Shot in Darkness), you should know that I AND readers of the In Darkness series are hoping for a lot from this next nov...

IT, Chuck Wendig, and Nostalgia for the 80’s
Good morning! My favorite thing to do on a Saturday is get up early before everyone else in the house is up (yes, I know I’m weird) and just surf the net for entertaining reads or Pinterest pictures or whatever. I say I’m getting up to finish the story I’m working on for you guys (the one where I tell you what happened to Charley Packstone after she went into witness protection after Cut in Darkness), but I’m really just going to enjoy my morning coffee while questing for interesting internet...

Writers’ Police Academy Is Still the Best Conference for Writers
I guess I should alter that headline to say: Writers’ Police Academy (WPA) is the best conference for Mystery, Thriller, and Suspense writers, however, since I have also written young adult in the past, I still picked up valuable training and information that could be used in my young adult as well as my adult thrillers.

I’ve been to many conferences. Some I’ve vowed to never go back to again. Some I’ll attend if the right opportunity presents itself. But WPA is a must!
Last year was the fir...
