Welcome back to A Crimson Homecoming – A Romantic Suspense Serial. I know it’s been way too long since we visited this story, and you guys have been amazing with your emails and requests for more.
So, what happened? Why did I stop posting episodes so abruptly?
There were two reasons, actually. I’m going to share one of them with you.

Woodford Reserve: Take a Tour with Me
[image error]
A Visit to a Kentucky’s Woodford Reserve Distillery Is Fun ResearchOver Labor Day weekend, when it was a bazillion degrees outside, Mike and I were looking for something to do that didn’t involve cooking in the ridiculously high temperatures.
We took the beautiful winding, country roads to one of the most beautiful and oldest distilleries in the state. The Woodford Reserve Distillery is nestled among the rolling hills of historic thoroughbred horse farms. And the drive itself is awe-inspi...

The Cliffs of Moher, Slieve League, and the Ending to A Thief Consumed
Amazing views! (Even Declan is an amazing view. Am I wrong?)
When anyone thinks of Ireland, a few things always come to mind: Guinness, Irish whiskey, rolling hills dotted with sheep, and the amazing cliffs of Ireland.
We saw all of those things in Ireland, but when it came to researching where I wanted to end A Thief Consumed and begin A Thief Obsessed, I dreamt of a castle owned by Declan O’Ro...

How Nora Roberts Taught Me To Be More Prolific

***This post was originally posted on March 15, 2016. It has been updated on October 10, 2018 in celebration of Nora Roberts’ birthday.
When you’re in the publishing business (as I am when I’m not pretending to be a scientist or neurologist trying to change the world with human cloning, creating an international thief who steals from the ruthless and unkind, or acting as a former FBI agent who hopes to rid the world of bioterrorists and other ruthless killers) your eye is trained to notice b...

Educated: A Memoir by Tara Westover and How Memoirs Help Novelists
Happy Friday! I promised you last week a session of book club and told you I was reading Educated: A Memoir by Tara Westover.
It’s been a while since I’ve read (or listened) to a book that moved me as much as Educated did. The story of Tara Westover is one of the most heart-warming, thought-provoking stories I’ve ever read, and I have found myself telling anyone and everyone who will listen that they have to pick up this book. It’s so good.

Books I’m Reading: Witherspoon, Paris, and Educated by Tara Westover
My husband promised me last week that summer is officially over. It’s been so dang hot here, y’all. (I’m channeling my inner Reese Witherspoon with that “y’all.” My friend Kris insists that I remind her of Reese, so every once in a while I like to put on a pretty dress, hot roll my hair, and break out a few y’alls, which actually comes quite naturally seeing as I’m from Kentucky.)
Wow, did I digress a lot in that paragraph? Anyway, summer being finally over, I thought I would share some books...

The Traveling Novelist: How to Spend One Day in Dublin, Ireland
Traveling to Ireland is a bucket list trip for many people. But when it comes down to it, travelers often wonder just how to do Ireland right. Well, in a series of posts about my husband’s and my recent adventure, I’m going to offer some tips based on what we did right and what we did wrong on our memorable trip to the Emerald Isle this summer.

Now, when I say “what we did wrong,” I don’t really mean “wrong,” because I don’t believe you can make wrong choices on trips. I just think ther...

How Traveling to Paris and London Inspired Character Lola Parks, the Love of Dimitri Tobias’s Life
[image error]
The #1 question I’m asked as a writer is “How do you come up with your ideas?”
Answer: How much time do you have?”
Seriously, ideas come from everywhere! They come from watching movies, reading other books, sitting in church, people watching in a hospital waiting room, people watching in an airport, riding on the subway, reading the newspaper, watching an argument break out in a local community group on Facebook, dining out at restaurants, visiting small towns, touring large cities… I t...
