Introducing The Weekly Thrill – A Newsletter
My husband is constantly telling me, “Please don’t take anything else on.” As in, he wants me to say “no” to whatever “extra” creative project I’m considering, because he’d like me to take a break between projects. I took on a new podcast in 2020, something I’d been wanting to do for several years, and I just couldn’t say “no” when the opportunity to team up with my podcast partner and partner in “true” crime, Author Kris Calvert, pre...

Ryan Holiday’s The Daily Stoic
There are so many reasons why I finally downloaded a copy of The Daily Stoic to my ereader. In a year filled with increased anxiety, depression, and way too much talk of death, I needed… something.
And when my doctor offered me relief from anxiety in the form of magic pills, it made me sit up and truly ask myself if that was what I wanted. I’m not knocking medication for anxiety. Not by a long shot. I know many who ...

From My Journal: Truth

Ollalie Butte, Oregon by Mike Sunseri
I’ve found myself particularly interested in the subject of creativity lately. More specifically, how to live a creative life while also leading a very busy life with a tight schedule of places to be (virtually, speaking — we ARE still in a pandemic) and things to do.
This curiosity led me down a rabbit hole of revisiting articles and interviews by many well-known authors who have written extensive...

The Queen’s Gambit, Chess, Creativity… and Winning
Look… You don’t sit down to play chess with the intention of winning. Yet, I want to win. Badly. In the end, however, I got so much more.
I know not everyone watched ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ and then decided they’d take up chess. Clearly, I’m not everyone. I watched the series twice. The first time, I watched it quickly for pure enjoyment, barely stopping for meals. The second, I studied it the way Beth Harmon analyzed the Russian’s chess ...

In a Year Marked with Toilet Paper: Secret is in the Bones

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook. If I can find the link on where to purchase it, I will come back and add it.
I definitely need this t-shirt!
What does it mean when a year is marked with symbols like toilet paper and syringes?
It means you have to work harder for the good. And you have to let the “good” squash out the shit.
I’m pretty sure that’s my new mantra for writing and editing a book. Hell, I think it’s my mantra for everything in life going forward. I see it as a 2021 take on t...

How I Set and Stick with Quarterly Goals
It’s that time of year again: the time when all those big dreamers and fancy goal setters are dropping off the list of “People who made New Years Resolutions and stuck with them.” Are you one of those people who already feels like a big failure? Well, don’t worry. I have a quick and easy solution for how to get back on track.

My Planning Recommendations for the New Year
[image error]It’s that time of the year again. The time when we read the latest blog posts and watch YouTube videos about the latest planning recommendations, inspiration for making new and better choices, and ways to be better versions of ourselves.
For me, that means writing those ideas down and planning out how I want my life to look in the coming quarter while putting the final touches on the quarter I’m in.
If you’d like to see a glimpse into my planning process and the tools I use, keep reading. If...October 18, 2019
Two Announcements: NaNoWriMo and Kindle Unlimited
I’ve made a couple of decisions as we venture full-speed toward the end of 2019
First, I’m participating in NaNoWriMo in the month of November. In case you aren’t aware, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. In the month of November, novelists and aspiring novelists gather together on the internet or sometimes in real life and decide they’re going to write a novel, or part of a novel. Basically, the goal is to write 50,000 words of a novel November 1 through November 30.
Some people do this in the early morni...
