Self-publishing is not REALLY “self” any more than Traditional Publishing is “full-service”

A week or so ago, Mike Satzkin coined the phrase “full-service publishing” to replace traditional publishing and legacy publishing. And Rachelle Gardner asked if we liked it. You can read both articles, if you’d like, and while you’re on Rachelle’s blog read the many different opinions on the subject. don’t get caught running someone else’s race

Is Chivalry Dead?

So, I’m sitting at home Tuesday morning, taking a rare quiet moment to finish my coffee and catch up on a little blog important news reading. I figured I needed that extra quiet moment to completely recover from a crazy, busy weekend before I entered a crazy, busy work week.


Then, my phone chimed.


Monthly tax update – 30 min.


Shit!


It takes me anywhere from 25 to 40 minutes in the morningsto get to my downtown office, depending on traffic.

Some Thoughts on New Adult: A New Genre or a Traditional Publishing Nightmare?

Several monthsago I started noticing the phrase “new adult” being mentioned everywhere. Mostly on blogs and twitter. It was the newest and hottest genre. And it wasn’t.


What??!!


That’s right. If you look around and do searches for “new adult” you’ll find varying and contradicting opinions about what new adult isand where it’s going.


I know you’ll find this as a ginormous surprise… I’ve got some thoughts on the subject.
