Pick Heather’s Brain, Episode 4: Is that you on the cover of Mindspeak?

It’s time for another episode of “Pick Heather’s Brain.” In this episode I answer a few questions I received on Twitter and Facebook, including whether that is me on the covers of Mindspeak and Mindsiege, and what subject I had to work hardest at in school and still not perform the best.

Leave me questions in the comments for future videos.

Also, what subject did you struggle with in school? Is it as ironic as my answer?

Just Write (#JustWrite)

JustWrite

By Heather Sunseri, @HeatherSunseri

What are you doing to reach readers? Is it enough?

Maybe you’re new to writing. What are you doing to get started? There might be a nugget of inspiration in this post for you, too.

I was fortunate enough to receive a little kick in the pants this week. It came in the form of an email from a lovely indie writer friend. The words were gentle and encouraging, yet to the point. I was so appreciative of it.

You see, I had emailed this friend to brainstorm about more...

Grace Helbig Exposes Her Indie Side with “It’s Grace”

Grace Helbig CC by Gage SkidmoreOkay, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “What the what?!??! Heather hasn’t posted twice in one week in a very long time.”

Well, welcome to the new me.

Just kidding. I’m not new. I just had something smart to say. It happens.

You know how I’ve been talking about business and knowing the business you’re choosing to be a part of? Well, I find things in the creative world are changing so rapidly, that sometimes I need to interrupt your regular scheduled goings-on to tell you something in...

Helpful Peeps Indie Writers Should Follow

Follow Me legs by SeattleCloudsdotcomAs promised in a review of my first year as a published author last Friday, I thought I’d share some of the cool peeps I currently follow in the indie world. (This list is a small sampling and is subject to change as I remember people I forgot to include, and as I find new people that should be included. It’s not an exclusive list, just one that popped into my head as I glanced at my Feedly and Twitter feed while writing the post. So, pretty please, if you would like to add to the list, put a...

Reflecting on One Year in Publishing

Reflections by Vicki's Nature

As of the 25th of January, I will have been a published author for one year. ONE WHOLE YEAR! It really seems like it’s been longer, but maybe that’s because I’ve been “seriously” working toward various writing goals for almost six years. As you can imagine, after going for my publishing dreams in the past year, I have a few thoughts about the process, the writing, and the business.

For the most part, publishing my first two novels has been everything I hoped it would be. But I wouldn’t be a sa...

Some Links and Information

book store by pjernGreetings! It’s a snowy Tuesday here in Kentucky. I’ve read three fantastic articles this week for the writers in my life (or for readers curious about the publishing industry). They were so fabulous, I felt it necessary to pass them along to you.

The first one is from CJ Lyons over on on Jane Friedman’s blog:Why I Choose to Self-Publish and Traditionally Publish. THIS, my friends is where your successful writers are headed (the world many already live). She called herself Author, CEO. I often...

What is your biggest struggle on the publishing path?

unknown soldiers by Storm CryptI asked my Twitter followers what the most difficult thing for writers to overcome is. Their answers so far: The blank page, mean reviews, staying committed for the long haul w/o getting discouraged, deciding on an ending, marketing.

My answer? Obscurity. Though, I’m trying to see the benefits of obscurity this early in my career.

What about you? What are you currently struggling with on the publishing path?
