Saving the Sea Turtles and More Yoga

I thought I would share my post from Instagram Thursday, because it’s so adorable. And because it reminds me of how amazing I felt over the Christmas holiday when I let go of a lot of stress by celebrating the holiday with my family, participated in yoga (on the beach and off), and donated to saving the sea turtles when I participated in New Moon meditation on the beach at sunset on Captiva, Florida.

I just love this picture from @ambuyoga, where I did yoga and new moon meditation over Chr...

The Question We Should All Be Asking: Now What?

I woke around 4:15 a.m. this morning, and my mind immediately began racing about the novella I’m writing, plus some other things, but let’s deal with the novella first. You see, when I ended the day yesterday, I had just dropped a bombshell (not literally… in this case…) on my main character (Brooke), and then I just walked away because I had to make dinner and stuff.

But I always feel slightly out of sorts when I do this kind of thing. I’m excited, because usually it means the writing of the...

This Quote Irks Me

“How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live.”
―Henry David Thoreau

Okay… I don’t know why… Maybe it’s the mood I’m in. But this quote irks me. And I’m totally taking this quote out of context, for sure! Because, as you can see in the first comment below this post where a commenter explains the origin of the words, this quote means something much deeper than the few words presented here. But this is what we do, right? We find little snippets of inspiration (or not)an...

When Your Fictional Stories Get a Little Too Close to Reality

As many of you know by now, Exposed in Darkness is about a bioterrorism plot against thousands people surrounding events of the Bluegrass Derby (which is eerily similar to another famous horse race in Kentucky). With the rise of terroristic attacks across the nation and the world, I live in fear as I research that some of the plots I’m considering for In Darkness books will look a little too close to reality. But who am I kidding? I’m not dreaming up “new” stuff. This stuff is happening. The...

Why Give Facebook Your Best Daily Writing?

In the writing world, we talk about platform all the time. It means different things to different people, and not all platforms are built the same. But first, what in the world is a platform? To put it simply, a platform for writers is the foundation from which you present your writing to the world and the way in which you interact with readers. You could be an Instagram star, a Twitter sensation, or have a blog that is everyone’s first stop each morning right after they fill their coffee mug...

Exposed in Darkness is LIVE and Readers Are Loving It So Far!

First, thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has helped sharemy latest release with the world! I say this often, but word of mouth is the most important tool for generating buzz about a new book. And it’s not always very easy to get that buzz going, so THANK YOU! I simply couldn’t do it without the help of so many.

Second, the reviews that are coming in via Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, personal emails sent directly to me, direct messages across social media, and everyw...

Exposed in Darkness: Why the genre change?

“Why the genre change?” many have asked.

I feel like I’ve been writing romantic suspense since I began this writing journey. All of my young adult books are both romantic and suspenseful, and the majority of my readers are adults. So, I truly don’t feel likeExposed in Darknessis a huge departure from what I’ve normally released into the world. In other words, I believemy current readers will enjoy my latest book.

The biggest difference between my previous young adult books andExposed in Darkn...
