I’ve been sitting on the Renaissance cover for a while now because you and I were doing a lot of talking about Uprising. But I thought you should knowthat Renaissance is available on iBooks for pre-order!

For now, this pre-order is exclusive to iBooks. Watch the newsletter for news on when the pre-order is available on Amazon. Amazon has some pretty strict rules surrounding their pre-orders, so I need to make sure all stars are aligning (mainly the editing stars) before I set an official date...

Read a Sneak Peek of Uprising (Emerge series, Book 2)

uprising cover 325x500Uprising releases tomorrow! So let’s get right down to business. Who wants to read an excerpt?

But wait! Before you get to an excerpt, here’s a description of what it’s about:

A thin line separates life from death, freedom from oppression. One misstep. One wrong choice.

When Cricket Black is purposely exposed to Bad Sam, she must choose: fight New Caelum’s stranglehold on its citizens’ freedom or succumb to the hopelessness of the lethal virus. A dear friend’s death at the hands of New Ca...

Me in an Interview about the Kentucky Book Fair

I’ll be signing books, along with my daughter Maggie Sunseri, at the Kentucky Book Fair in Frankfort, Kentucky on November 14, 2015. If you want to know more about the book fair anda bit about the authors who will be speaking at the book fair, watch these interviews. (I’m first, Ann Gabhart is second, and Mary Lynn Collins is third. Mary Lynn gives a run down of some big names that will be at the fair.)

There have been other interviews that mention more authors than this one. For example, Rob...

My Favorite Kind of Email: Writerly and Readerly News

One of the best things about being a writer is waking up to an email from a reader. And I especially love it when that reader asks a question, because if one reader has a question, others probably have the same question.

Woke up this morning to an email from Robin:

Tracked was awesome. What is in store for this series?

So, I thought I’d give you a rundown on what’s going on in my writerly world…

Tracked (Mindspeak series, Book 4) Read Emerge today! Pre-ord...

“Storytelling Has Guidelines, Not Hard, Fast Rules.”

I’m sitting here this morning thinking aboutthe story I want to tell in Emerge #3 that will be titled Renaissance. I’ve written the first few scenes, and I’ve thought long and hard about the major things that I hope will happen in the story.

There’s something special about the time before Istart writing a new story. There’s so much hope that it will be the best story I’veever written. That I’veimproved greatly throughout each novel I’vepenned.

Before I sit down to write new stories, I have a...

How I Write and Found Success in Publishing

Happy Saturday! I meant to post this earlier this week, but well… editing Uprising kind of took over my life.

Anyway, the wonderful Ron Estrada interviewed me recently in a new podcast he and Gina Conroy started: Teen Writers Publish.

Though this podcast is aimed at inspiring teen writers, it’s not just for teens. For example, in this interview, I talk a ton about my writing process, what I’m publishing next, and some of the things that I think have helped me find some success. I hope it’s hel...

Take Back Your Life: Clean Out Your Inbox

Young woman on a stone with raised hands

Taking back control of yourlife doesn’t happen instantly. It happens little by little. (Tweet This)

I’ve noticed lately that certain small areas of my life are cluttered and out of control. Like my refrigerator. My refrigerator, both inside and on top of it, need a major detailing. But that’s a task for another day.

Yesterday, after I had completed my main writing-related workfor the day, I tackled a task I had been putting off for months… years, actually. I cleaned out my inbox.

It is not un...

Quitting the Corporate World: One Year Later

It’s been a little over a year since I left the corporate world behind. And while that decision was the best career decision I’ve ever made, it’s not for the reasonyou think.

I waited until I had proof that I could reasonably expect to make a living from selling books to pull the plug on a job I despised. That was the correct thing to do for my family, I think, but one thing has become clear to me this past year: I wouldn’t go back to that corporate job even if my income flow from writing com...

RIP Scott Dinsmore: You Will Live On in the Legend You Left Us With

Scott Dinsmore

The world lost an incredibly inspirational and adored person this week.

Scott Dinsmore of Live Your Legend died Saturday in a tragic accident while climbing Mt.Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with his wife Chelsea. They were eight months into a year-long trip around the world.

I didn’t know Scott, personally, but I knew and admired his work. He was an inspiration and loved by so many around the world. I first knew of Scott when I ran across his TEDx talk: How To Find and Do Work You Love, which has...
