$1M/Year Sharing Local News in the Middle East

Richard FitzgeraldRichard FitzgeraldFounder of Lovin.co $1 Million annual revenue Published December 21, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty

I recently came across Lovin Dubai 🇦🇪 via this amazing report by Glen Allsopp…

Detailed Q2: Analysing The SEO Playbook of Digital Goliaths In-Depth, Every Quarter

Turns out, Lovin Dubai is just one of several local news websites run by Irishman Richard Fitzgerald 🇮🇪

According to the Irish Examiner

In 2012, Richard Fitzgerald left his job as a senior advertising executive to head to the Middle East. Three years later he founded Augustus Media.

Augustus Media owns Lovin.co

a local news & entertainment channel sharing the best of its city, informing using bitesize news, viral content, and community stories… available across the Arab world.

All their sites are subfolders on the same domain, such as…

🇦🇪 Lovin Abu Dhabi
🇧🇭 Lovin Bahrain
🇪🇬 Lovin Cairo

Richard shares in a June 2022 interview…

I grew up in Ireland in a small little town… went to university in Dublin… worked in Dublin, spent a year in Germany… lived in London for a couple of years and then I moved to Dubai 10 years ago…

When I came to Dubai, I didn’t have any money. I luckily had a good promotion and a good job, but I didn’t have any money.

But he did have experience related to SEO, affiliate marketing and social media. Probably from his time working in London 🇬🇧

Back to Glen’s report…

In September, Richard tweeted a company-wide email he sent, which started, “Hi all. Today we turned down an offer of $12M for the business from a rival media company.”

Later, he added, “After 8 years of building it might have been tempted [sic] to cash out. But, I’m not in this to get rich.”

According to Glen, Richard’s sites are now earning a combined $1 million a year 🤑

As I’ve said many times before, most cities or regions should have a local news site like Lovin Dubai or Lovin Cairo.

Or a quality tourist information site for such places.

Examples featured in past newsletters 👇

$1 Million Hyperlocal Website (Frisco, Texas)$2500/Month Website + Newsletter (Mallorca, Spain)$12K/Month 1-Woman Tourist Website (San Francisco)Turning Her Passion Into $16K/Month (Rome, Italy)Started 3 Years Ago, Now Earns $50K/Month (Mexico)

Could you do something like this in your area? 🤔

As Richard proves, you can do this successfully even if you’re fairly new in town.

$200K/Month Giving His Product Away For Free

Ivan KuckirIvan KuckirFounder of Photopea $200,000+ monthly revenue Published December 21, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty

Ivan Kuckir is the founder of Photopea, which is basically a clone of Photoshop that you can use for free in your browser.

I shared Ivan’s story back in 2021 when he was making $1M/year 💰

He monetizes with display ads and subscriptions (for an ad-free version), with ads making up 90% of the revenue.

Now after almost a decade of working on it, Ivan recently revealed

I make slightly over 200,000$ a month from ads on Photopea.

🤯

After starting the project in 2013…

It took about 200-300 hours to create the first version of Photopea. I wasn’t working on it full-time since I was also busy with my university studies. I coded the main features first and then focused on other ones.

He finished university and started to see traction…

I was living in a dorm here in Prague, sharing a room with three other students. Photopea was more like a hobby to me.

It wasn’t a job; it was something I enjoyed doing…I was excited to see it grow – starting with about 20-30 users a day – and enjoyed adding new features. I was adding new features or updates almost every week, just being thrilled by its gradual growth…

People found Photopea by word of mouth, through blog reviews, or video content.

🤑 Ivan could have gone the SaaS route and charged a monthly fee for access, but…

Initially, I wasn’t sure if people would be willing to pay for Photopea… I wanted to attract as many users as possible by offering it for free.

I thought that if I could gather a large user base, I could make significant money without asking people to pay, similar to how Google or Facebook monetize with ads.

Ivan eventually hired 2 people to help him, but still works a lot himself…

I spend about six to eight hours a day on Photopea. It’s like a full-time job, but I still enjoy it. Most of my work has no deadlines.

His costs…

I spend about 600$ per year for servers and 20$ for the domain. I also had an additional cost for an AI feature – $1.000$ per month.

That adds up to only $12,620 per year.

Not sure how much he’s paying his two employees on top of that.

But I’m guessing he’s running his $2.4M per year business on less than $100,000 per year 🤯

Ivan’s advice for anyone starting out…

Don’t be intimidated by the idea of entering a crowded market or tackling complex tasks. Begin by focusing on the core, essential features of your product, the ones that are most important and useful. These don’t have to be numerous or complicated.

Generating AI Baby Photos = $1000/Month

Yifan GohYifan GohFounder of OurBabyAI $1000+ monthly revenue Published December 21, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty

Checkout Yifan Goh’s OurBabyAI 🤖

Upload some photos of you and your partner, and OurBabyAI returns plausible images of what your baby could look like 👶

Cost right now is $9 for 8 baby pictures, though it looks like it usually costs $19.

In a recent interview Yifan shares

I had lots of self-doubt, if I’m being totally honest with you. I built the landing page in one day but hesitated to launch it because I thought the idea was stupid. I announced the launch on Twitter and all I got were crickets.

🚀 How he got traction…

After submitting my product to a few AI directories, organic traffic started to come in. Some of that traffic converted to sales and, when traffic went up, sales went up too.

Yifan’s landing page went live on April 2nd, and…

First sale came in on April 11! I was beyond excited, and generated the photos manually for my customer. Made 9 sales for the month of April, and crossed $100 in total revenue. Sweet!

As things picked up, Yifan realized…

I can’t generate the photos manually forever, I need a backend to do it for me automatically so that I can scale. So I wrote the first line of code and deployed my backend app to production. Got 18 sales for the month of May. Brought in $325 of revenue.

Did you catch that?

Yifan didn’t build the product and then try to market it.

First he built out just the landing page and promoted that to see if there was any interest 💡

And when those first orders started rolling in, he processed them manually.

Only when he felt there was sufficient and consistent demand for the service did he invest the time and effort to create a fully automated solution 😎

His smart and patient approach has paid off, as he recently tweeted

Everyone should strive to build their own money making product.

I have stopped working on OurBabyAI, but it makes $1k+ per month for me.

📈 Looks like Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is big for Yifan…

80% of my traffic actually comes from Search. Whenever there’s a trend on TikTok related to my startup, people search for those keywords (e.g. baby ai generator) and I get spikes in traffic and sales!

That’s even more impressive when you consider that his site only has 10 pages total.

Do you have some “stupid” business ideas? 🤔

If so, consider testing them out fast and loose like Yifan.

Hey, I’m Niall Doherty.

I quit my last 9-to-5 job back in 2010.

Since then, I’ve earned my living online in various ways. Over the last 3 years (through 2022) I’ve earned $536,000 from my laptop.

I’m on a mission to accurately rate and review all the best online business courses. My team and I are spending many hours investigating these courses and getting feedback from real students.

All that to say: we know a thing or two about such courses and making money online.

The Best Credit Repair Course?

We’re on a hunt to find the top consulting course based on research and gathered feedback from real students. In this case, the topic is credit repair.

The Credit Hero Challenge is strong, but it’s not the best out there.

1.Credit Hero Challenge (review)3.2/5

How does Credit Hero Challenge help you make money?

Credit Hero Challenge aims to help you make money by helping people repair their credit.

Credit is essentially a system where you can borrow money or resources with the agreement to pay it back over time.

It’s like getting a trust-based loan, where your ability to repay is judged based on your past financial behavior…

credit hero challenge review credit

Being good with credit means you’re generally seen as trustworthy in financial matters.

But if someone develops a pattern of being unreliable in paying back their debt, their credit score is negatively affected.

Bad credit can prevent people from getting a loan, buying a home, etc.

So some people need to improve their credit – that’s where you come in.

You can make money by using software that can increase people’s credit and offering this service as a consultant.

According to the sales page, here are some ways you’ll make money…

How it’s possible to get a client in just 24 hoursBuild a solid foundation for a REAL businessAutomate work flows for maximum efficiencyBuild your confidence AND instill confidence in your clientsApproach friends and family without being ‘salesy’Attract paying clients using our magnetic “Attraction Techniques”Consult like a proOnboard new customersGet testimonials that do the selling for you

Credit Hero Challenge appears to target go-getters who work a 9 to 5 and may have tried to make money online but have failed – people who have fire in their stomach and want more in life than traditional results.

How the sales page describes who it’s for…

Credit Hero Challenge positions itself as the solution that will work even if nothing else has.

And it can supposedly work for you even if you have no experience…

70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Does Credit Repair Cloud have a good reputation?

It’s complicated.

On the one hand, Credit Repair Cloud has thousands of positive reviews across Trustpilot and Google…

credit hero challenge review credit repair cloud trustpilot reviewscredit hero challenge review credit repair cloud google reviews

On the other hand, there’s currently a government lawsuit against Credit Repair Cloud…

Credit Repair Cloud and Rosen have been breaking the law… They are actively assisting credit-repair businesses in violating federal consumer protection laws.

They facilitated and encouraged credit-repair businesses to charge illegal advance fees, causing broader consumer harm in the marketplace.

Source: ConsumerFinance.gov

Basically, the government is suing Credit Repair Cloud and its owner, David Rosen, for helping credit repair businesses charge customers upfront, which is illegal.

These businesses are breaking two major laws by asking for money before improving someone’s credit report.

So the entire model taught by Credit Hero Challenge may not be legal, yet it’s still being solid.

Given this, Credit Repair Cloud’s reputation is questionable.

Here’s a video from Credit Repair Cloud’s YouTube channel so you can get a feel for David’s style…

Are Credit Repair Cloud’s students getting results?

There appear to be dozens of students who have created million-dollar credit repair businesses by using Credit Repair Cloud, the software component of Credit Hero Challenge.

For example…

credit hero challenge review students

However, a couple of things give me pause…

All results I found were from 2018-2019, so I’m unsure whether students are getting results today.I don’t know whether these students found success due to joining the Credit Hero Challenge.

While there appears to be a solid past of student success, it’s unclear whether present-day students are making money.

How much does Credit Hero Challenge cost?

Credit Hero Challenge costs $47 one time for the digital version or $47 + $19.99 for shipping if you want a physical kit included.

Extra costs include a software called Credit Repair Cloud, which is $179/mo.

Credit Hero Challenge Discount?

I’ve looked online for a discount or coupon code but found none. Plus, there’s no spot to enter a code when you check out.

So, it seems you’ll have to pay full price if you want in.

Refund Policy

Credit Hero Challenge offers a 30-day refund guarantee.

From the terms page…

Anything within 30 days can be fully refunded on any of our products.

This is about as good as it gets when it comes to refund policies.

I haven’t heard of any issues with students getting their money back, so you can feel confident with this refund policy.

How is Credit Hero Challenge structured?

Credit Hero Challenge is a 14-day training launched inside a Facebook group.

It starts with a few days of pre-training, where team members go live inside the group, introducing themselves and inspiring students to get into a winning mindset…

credit hero challenge review pre-training

After pre-training, you can access pre-recorded training videos conducted by Credit Repair Cloud founder Daniel Rosen and resident expert Corey Gray, who reportedly has “two decades of credit repair experience and has processed over 23,000 clients.”

Lessons are in video format, and you also get downloadable resources to guide you along the way.

There are also live group coaching calls Monday through Friday inside the FB group.

Students are encouraged to actively participate, so there’s a lot of engagement and support.

Green Lights 🟢

Here are a few things to like about Credit Hero Challenge…

Active and supportive private community.Low price to get started.30-day money-back guarantee. The training is practical and comprehensive. No overhyped promises or shady marketing.A solid amount of bonuses.Red Flags 🚩

Some knocks on Credit Hero Challenge…

Lack of significant student success stories in recent years.Recurring software costUnclear whether methods taught are even legalOngoing government lawsuitOther things you should knowYou can think of Credit Repair Cloud’s training like this: it’s basically a record of everything people have done to create a successful credit repair consulting business. Should you join Credit Hero Challenge?

I don’t doubt the training and live group coaching inside Credit Hero Challenge is well done.

The issue is that the entire model might be legally flawed. If that turns out to be the case, it doesn’t matter how good the training is if it can’t be followed.

If you’re curious about the mindset material and learning more about credit repair at a high level, you might find value inside Credit Repair Hero.

But if your goal is to start a credit repair business and implement the training step-by-step, I would steer clear of Credit Repair Hero until the legalities are ironed out.

$10K/Month Testing YouTube Thumbnails

@RoxCodes@RoxCodesFounder of Thumbnail Test $10,000+ monthly revenue Published December 18, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty

@RoxCodes tweeted back in July…

I have been building startups for almost 5 years

this is the first time I’ve broken $10k in one month

💬 He’s talking about Thumbnail Test, a tool that lets you…

Test different thumbnails and titles live on YouTube.

Rox in another tweet

I launched the tool June 30th, 2022

It took me 507 days to hit $10k MRR

Of those days, I personally spent about 65% full-time on the tool

💰 Then, a few weeks ago, he wrote

4 months later, had my first $20k month 🙂

note: this is not MRR, I just had a lot of annual plans this month

Rox writes elsewhere about his big turning point in Aug 2022…

Somehow the Mr Beast team found my twitter/twitch/thumbnailtest.com and asked me to come build some cool secret stuff for them. So I did! It was only a 3 month contract, but I worked my absolute ass off…

After working with Mr Beast, I realized I had to shoot for bigger things. I truly believe I can do something amazing with my life, I just have to push myself to do it.

He calls this his 10x Mindset Shift 🧠

Another recent tweet

I find that the thing holding me back most is thinking of my tools as “projects”

when I think of the project, I think of improving it, building it up, making something I’m proud of

But now I think of the tool as a business

I focus on marketing and getting myself out of day2day

Rox points to these two videos as the likely reason for his big $20K month…

And notes that doing affiliate and sponsored partnerships with video creators has been huge for growing the business 🚀

Another tweet that speaks to this…

the less I worry about the small details, the better the business does

More marketing and partnerships -> more MRR -> can do more things w/ $

Last thing here: check out the little “guess which thumbnail won” game Rox has on his homepage 👀

It’s a nice interactive way of showing people the value of his product. (Plus you get offered a discount code if you play a few rounds.)

With This App: If You Can Draw, You Can Code

Get ready to have your mind blown 🤯

tldraw is an open source, free whiteboard tool.

They recently launched a unique AI feature called MakeReal (OpenAI API required) that lets you draw an app or website ✍

Then, with the click of a button, it outputs the code that brings your app to life.

Here’s the official launch tweet from tldraw, where they quickly create a website.

Since release, people have been using it to make things like…

Gradient maker toolSimple clockVoice to typewriting toolCalculator app

Incredible, right? 😱

MakeReal and tools like it are making it easy for non-coders to code.

Doesn’t look like you can create complex apps with this yet, but you could probably build tiny utility tools and monetise via display ads 🤑

We’ve covered a few projects like that in previous editions of this newsletter…

Free Password Generator Making $70,000 Per YearTiny tool, 1 million visitors, $100K/year10-Page Website: 4 Million Visitors and $5000 Per Month

If you’d like to try this yourself, check out Tim Bennetto’s process. He’s used it to build a suite of tiny tools that bring his website 300K visits each month 📈

£10K/Month Ecom Site For World’s 2nd Favorite Sport

Freddie ChattFreddie ChattCo-founder of Village Cricket Co £10,000+ monthly revenue Published December 18, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty

Checkout Village Cricket Co, a website selling products for the sport of cricket 🏏

It was started in 2020 by two guys from the UK 🇬🇧

One of the founders, Freddie Chatt, recently published this article…

How I took my ecommerce brand to over £10k/month and beyond from SEO

(£10,000 GBP = approx $12,700 USD)

📝 Freddie writes there…

I am very interested in the sport of cricket, I’ve played for most of my life (over 20 years) so I knew a lot generally about the market.

One thing I noticed that didn’t take a lot more research was that most brands were not very good at ‘digital’ and as a result, their websites were lacking.

More backstory from their about page

My (Freddie’s) bat broke… I was gutted but also excited to get a new wand.

After a quick search online, I was shocked at the prices of new bats… I resented paying hundreds for a new one.

So Freddie teamed up with his buddy George to create Village Cricket Co 🤝

They started small…

We were going to launch initially with one product, a cricket bat.

So I wanted to find the opportunities I had to try and rank for – incoming, keyword research.

📈 Search Engine Optimization (SEO) was key…

The main brunt of our content approach was creating bottom-of-the-funnel (BOFU) content from our keyword research targeting long-tail keywords such as ‘best cricket bat for beginners’ and lightweight cricket bat’

The FAQ section at the bottom of this page reveals how they keep their costs down…

All of our bats are created in India… The bat is sourced directly from the manufacturer, cutting out any middlemen… [and] we don’t sponsor professional players adding unnecessary costs.

They source Kashmir Willow cricket bats. Those usually cost $10-30 a pop in India 🇮🇳 and Village Cricket Co sells them for £97 ($122) to £117 ($147).

So it’s safe to assume they operate at a margin of 50% or more.

Freddie said in his article that the business does “£10k/month and beyond” in revenue, and it looks like there’s still plenty of room to grow…

we had major stock issues in June, but outside of that, we would have hit over £20,000 from SEO alone.

Two takeaways here 👇

First, I like how they started small, testing out one product and making sure that worked well before expanding.

Second, Freddie was inspired to start Village Cricket Co after seeing a bunch of crappy cricket ecommerce sites.

With that in mind, keep an eye out for crappy websites when you’re looking to buy something online 👀

Freddie and George only started their site 3.5 years ago, selling products for the #2 most popular sport in the world.

So clearly there are plenty of opportunities still out there 👍

$3745 Profit From an AI-Generated Blog Post

Niche Site LadyNiche Site LadyOnline Entrepreneur $3745 profit in 30 days
Published December 14, 2023 by Fardeen KhanReviewed and edited by Niall Doherty

Niche Site Lady tweets

This AI-generated blog post made $4,840 in the past 30 days 🤯

She doesn’t reveal the piece of content, but says it’s a blog in the travel niche.

While Niche Site Lady doesn’t reveal her true identity, she appears to be the real deal, with 63k followers and results like these…

$1000 day from ads on a single siteSold a website for $152,630

More details about her AI-generated blog post…

[It’s] a simple listicle post.

I don’t like to give AI free rein to do research. Instead, I paste in a load of facts and have it use only this info to generate a blog post.

I like that approach to writing with AI: have it create a draft based on trusted data you feed into it.

That way you’re less likely to end up with the made-up-facts that tools like ChatGPT can generate 🤖

Another unique thing about Niche Site Lady’s approach…

The main traffic source for this article was Facebook.

I spent $1,095 to generate 27,256 clicks, at a cost of 4c per click.

(Each click made me 5.6c so not a huge return).

Most blogs tend to rely on search traffic from Google, which can take months to pick up.

But this Facebook approach lets you start earning from display ads (or affiliate offers) much quicker 🚀

Especially when you combine it with some organic action…

The post also attracted 41,489 clicks from Facebook organically.

These came from me posting it on my Facebook page (which has 13k fans), and people sharing it naturally…

Of course, building an engaged Facebook page with 13k fans takes a lot of work 💪

But it goes to show that you don’t need to rely on Google to build a profitable blog.

Just be aware that the Facebook ads approach is quite hands-on

I keep a close eye on [FB ads manager] and turn off once the CPC rises too close to the RPM.

It never lasts long. Then I have to find a new post to try it with. [I optimize the ads] for clicks.

💰 Niche Site Lady’s numbers for that one particular blog post in 30 days…

$4,840 revenue$1,095 spent on Facebook ads$3,745 profit

Business Idea: YouTubers Would Pay For This

💬 Pat Walls shares a business idea…

Some sort of vetted YouTube/TikTok/Instagram scriptwriter marketplace / job board.

Pain point: Finding good writers for video content is nearly impossible.

Pat started a YouTube channel in April and has grown to 120K+ subscribers since 📈

A big part of that growth is storytelling.

A recent video from his channel will give you a feel for it…

I Became A Venture Capitalist With Only $1,000…

Back to Pat’s business idea…

1/100 people who call themselves writers can actually write video content that performs.

It’s so hard to find this talent that creators will just say ‘fuck it’ and do it themselves, even though it’s the biggest bottleneck for any creator trying to scale.

The hard part of this business would be vetting the scriptwriters to be amazing and keep it very high quality.

I would use this and pay for it.

There are surely a whole bunch of YouTubers like Pat who feel the same way.

But before you start building, keep in mind that marketplaces are tough 🙈

I consider them a Level 5 online business.

In other words, among the most complex / difficult / expensive to build.

So if you want to run with Pat’s idea, a much-less-difficult approach would be to find 2-3 great video scriptwriters, and start an agency with them.

Your job as head of the agency would be to find brands to work with, and make sure the scriptwriters have everything they need to deliver great results for those brands.

If all goes well, you could eventually hire more scriptwriters and transition into a marketplace business.

💡 Another idea here: how about creating an AI app that generates new video scripts based on the scripts of existing videos?

Simon Høiberg did that for a video several months back (skip to the 3:19 mark)…

But I believe there’s still no app that makes this process easier 🤔
