$30,000/Month Vegetarian Recipe Blog

Published June 16, 2023 by Niall Doherty
Check it out at LiveEatLearn.com
Sarah Bond started the site in 2015, when she was still in her early 20’s.
She has since started a couple of others…
Brew Buch – kombucha blogBone Appétreat – dog food recipes
Sarah revealed in a recent interview…
All of the sites are currently monetized primarily through display ads on Mediavine, as well as some affiliate marketing on Amazon.
Live Eat Learn typically brings in about $30k per month with ad revenue, followed by Brew Buch with about $2k, and Bone Appétreat with about $200.
Most of the traffic (77%) to Live Eat Learn comes via search engines, and the site gets “a little over 1 million page views per month”
Sarah puts a lot of time and effort into creating content…
I publish new content on Live Eat Learn about 5 times per week. That’s usually 2 new recipes, 1 how-to post, and 2 informational articles…
I’ll batch create recipes, so I’ll typically spend a day testing and shooting multiple recipes.
As for writing, while I used to use writers for fleshing out the posts, honestly I’ve been using AI lately to help with writing. It’s sped up the process significantly.
If I had to guess, I would say one recipe article, start to finish, takes 8 hours.
Here’s a recent recipe she published: Healthy Broccoli Casserole
IMO, what really makes Sarah’s content stand out are the nice custom photos and videos for each recipe.
She’s published 300+ videos on her YouTube channel, but they seem to mainly serve as a complement to her written posts.
And there’s good evidence that embedding videos in your content helps with SEO
Sarah’s work schedule…
I work a lot, typically 40 to 60 hours per week. With that said, I make my own schedule and can work from anywhere!
Last year I spent a week working from a boat off the coast of Croatia. And I’ll often take random days off when something fun comes up. Gotta enjoy the perks of the job!
Pics from her Croatia trip here
And while Sarah does post a lot of content to social media, she’s quick to point out that social isn’t core to her business…
You don’t need to have a social media following to have a lucrative business online. I prefer to build up my websites with loads of useful evergreen content that will provide years of passive income, rather than putting all my time into an Instagram reel with an 18-hour lifecycle.
So if you were looking for someone to tell you that you don’t have to post to Instagram or TikTok or whatever new app they make tomorrow, permission granted.

How does Launch in 30 Days help you make money?
Launch In 30 Days shows you how to create your own virtual assistant business. You’ll offer services to clients and earn money by charging for the tasks you do for them.
For example, if you’re good at social media marketing, you could offer daily posting on social media platforms. This would help a business owner who wants to grow their brand online.
The official word from the sales page…
Learn more about becoming a virtual assistantWho is Launch in 30 Days for?The step-by-step guide to launching your dream VA business, and landing your first-ever *well-paying* client (…in just 30 days!)
The ideal fit for Launch In 30 Days seems to be working mums from New Zealand or Australia who want more freedom and control of their life.
From the sales page…
We’re based in New Zealand, and all our advice, coaching, and content is tailored for VAs who are setting up their business in New Zealand and Australia…
We’re mums too!… We know what it’s like to want to start a business that serves you and your family, so you can build a life you actually enjoy. If you’re not a mum, we’re still the perfect coaches for you because we get the importance of making time to do amazing stuff that isn’t work.
A core audience is also people who want to leave their 9-5 jobs…
Most of all – you’re ready to replace your 9-5 income doing work you love, supporting businesses you’re passionate about. Ohh yes. You are soo ready to leave your 9-5 and start your own VA business.
More details…

Yes.
While researching Sam and Jo, I only found praise for the training and its creators.
They both apparently have ~20 years of personal assistant experience. They still lead their own virtual assistant businesses.
Samantha founded The Virtual Assistant Network of New Zealand in 2019. Jo started her VA company, Strictly Savvy, in 2012, and launched The VA Foundry in 2017.
More on Jo’s background…
– 2022 Top Performing VA Agency in New Zealand
– 2022 Best Virtual Assistant Website in New Zealand
– 2017 Best Professional Services Award at the Wellington Region Business Excellence Awards
I’m also the owner of a million dollar VA agency called Strictly Savvy, and with the help of my 30-strong team and general manager, that company now runs without me…
I’m an open book when it comes to how my VA business went from hitting $850K in revenue to 1.5 million in just two years.
Sam and Jo also run a blog on The VA Foundry and have a podcast where they discuss trending virtual assistant topics.
Here’s an episode from their podcast so you can get a feel for their style…
Are VA Foundry students getting results?Browse through the VA Foundry website and you’ll find no shortage of student testimonials.
For example…

It’s unclear how old the testimonials are, but it looks to me like the training proves effective for most people who follow it consistently.
Plus, we’ve received a number of great reviews of Sam and Jo’s VA Foundry Mastermind
Launch In 30 Days has two versions with 2 payment options each.
The VIP version costs…
$1,797 NZD (~$1,090 USD) one-timeOr 3x monthly payments of $660 NZD (~$400 USD)The payment plan adds up to $1,980 NZD (~$1,200 USD).
The DIY version costs…
$1,397 NZD or $1,297 AUD (~$860) one-timeOr 3x monthly payments of $512 NZD or $474 AUD (~$315 USD)The payment plan adds up to $1,536 NZD or $1,422 AUD (~$945 USD).
The difference between VIP and DIY is that VIP includes…
5x ask us anything group callsMembers-only online communityVIP is also only available to 30 people monthly, while DIY is always available.
All options grant 90 days of access to the materials.
Here’s why according to the FAQs…
We created this course so you can launch in 30 days. With 90 day’s access, you’ll have more than enough time to work through the daily videos and implement everything you learn. We’ve created this time limit so you’re more likely to stay accountable to your goals.
This is what Sam and Jo say about additional costs…
[This is for you if] you’re able to cover the usual costs of starting a business (e.g. paying for your domain name, email address, password manager, website hosting – approx $840/yr NZD)
That’d be about an extra $515/yr USD or ~$43/mo.
Launch in 30 Days Discount?I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code for The VA Foundry Launch In 30 Days program but have yet to find mention of one anywhere. However, there is a place to enter a discount code at checkout.
So it looks like you’ll have to pay the full price if you want access.
Refund PolicyThe terms page for VA Foundry programs specifies a 30-day pro-rata refund policy…
The company may, in its sole discretion, refund the initial fee charged for any use of the site and/or any content or a pro-rata portion thereof consistent with the company’s refund policy. The company shall refuse any refund thirty (30) days after your payment for use of the site and/or any content, either pursuant to the company’s customer license agreement or otherwise, regardless of the reason for disruption.
In other words, if you request a refund in the first 30 days, you’ll get a refund for the days you haven’t used yet.
I haven’t seen anyone reporting issues getting a refund on their purchase, so you can rest easy with this guarantee.
How is Launch in 30 Days structured? Here’s what the training looks like once you log in and open one of the lessons…

The core training is divided into 8 stages and split into steps.
There are about 60 lessons in total. Most of them are video-only and text summaries of key points. The videos vary in length, from several minutes to more than an hour.
I found the training comprehensive; there’s plenty of info in there. I also found the training easy to navigate, thanks to an awesome search function…

Some videos are “talking heads,” which I’m not a big fan of. But there always seem to be at least slides in front, with Sam and Jo talking in the background…

And there are plenty of screencasts as well.
For example…

The VIP version of Launch In 30 Days also offers 5x weekly group coaching calls and 90 days of access to a private community where Sam and Jo are active…

Plus, I found all the well-designed worksheets, templates, and scripts to be a nice value-add.
Green Lights
Here are a few things to like about Launch in 30 Days…
The training is practical and comprehensive.Sam and Jo are the real deal.Tried and trusted business model. No shady marketing tactics.Plenty of bonuses.Red Flags
Some knocks on Launch in 30 Days…
Somewhat expensive compared to other VA courses.Access is only temporary.Other things you should knowA good way to think of Sam and Jo’s training: they’ve basically documented everything they’ve done to build their own successful VA businesses. When you subscribe to the course, you get access to that documentation. You’ll find lots of handy downloads within the training, including Canva templates, worksheets, spreadsheets, contracts, scripts, etc.👇 Subscribe to eBiz Insider 👇Every Tuesday and Friday we email 30,895 people like you with top tips, insights and opportunities to build your online business. Should you join Launch in 30 Days?
Launch In 30 Days is one of the better virtual assistant programs out there, IMO.
The training is mainly for beginner VAs who want to land their first client. But I think it’s also a solid choice for intermediate virtual assistants who want more consistent results.
My main issue with the program is that you only get 90 days of access. Best case scenario, that will motivate you to take it more seriously. But I’d personally prefer to see a lifetime access option, especially given the price point.

How does Affiliate Escape Plan help you make money?
Affiliate Escape Plan aims to help you make money with affiliate marketing through organic TikTok traffic.
In affiliate marketing, you recommend online products or services to others. You earn a commission from the product or service seller when someone makes a purchase through your referral link.
There’s no need to worry about creating your own offer and everything that goes into that. Your primary focus is marketing and generating traffic.
One way Affiliate Escape Plan teaches you to generate traffic is by creating short TikTok videos to attract people’s attention. Ultimately, the goal is to convert them into customers of whatever product or service you’re promoting.
You can also take your TikTok videos and post them on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Stories. This can multiply your results without much extra effort.
The official word…

LDT stands for “Learn, Do, Teach.”
(And for what it’s worth, I couldn’t find any record of that term actually being trademarked by Brian in the USA.)
First, you learn a skill like making TikTok videos, which Brian shows how to do within the course…

(Keep in mind that you’ll need to be on camera to create content using Brian’s method. It is not a faceless approach.)
Then, you take action and implement what you’ve learned.
Lastly, you teach others to do the same by referring them to an expert resource.
And you get paid for doing so.
In terms of what you’ll be promoting, the main suggestion is to promote Affiliate Escape Plan itself. You’ll get the landing pages, scripts, and ideas to do so.
It always rubs me the wrong way when an affiliate marketing course mainly teaches you how to promote the same course to other people.
Brian recommends promoting AEP in the first video before you know whether it’s worthwhile. And he doesn’t teach how to find other offers initially, which I expect leads most beginners to simply promote his offer.
This can result in a bunch of people who don’t earn much in affiliate marketing showing others how to make money by promoting the very product they’re not making money with
The true purpose of affiliate marketing, and business in general, is to deliver value to the marketplace.
But what often happens with MLM-style courses like this is that the process becomes circular, and the people who make the vast majority are the course creator and a small handful of affiliates.
Having said that, Affiliate Escape Plan is not a flat-out MLM. There is only a single-tier affiliate program, and the information taught can apply to other affiliate products.
Here’s how Brian explains it as not being an MLM offer (source)…
Affiliate marketing for digital products is completely different than MLM. This is more like going to a restaurant, loving it, and then recommending that restaurant to your friends. But as a bonus, you get a cut of their tab…
MLM’ers focus on building a team because in MLM, you get a cut of what your “downline” earns. The way to be successful in MLM is to build a big team that sells a lot. The problem here is that you rely on your team to generate revenue…
With Affiliate Marketing, you earn on what you sell…
The cool thing about promoting an affiliate marketing course that you purchased is that you learn how to market while you learn the product you are promoting. You kill two birds with one stone.
The fact that Brian had to clarify this is telling IMO.
But where my MLM antenna really goes up is with the other recommendation he makes.
Brian suggests promoting Legendary Marketer, a course I’ve reviewed in the past with strong MLM vibes.
It makes sense he’d mention it, considering he’s one of their top affiliates…
Basically, you can promote any offer using the skills you learn in the course. But the two offers Brian focuses on and gives resources for could easily be seen as MLMy by some people.
Learn more about affiliate marketingWho is Affiliate Escape Plan for?According to the sales page, Affiliate Escape Plan can work for beginners…

IMO the course mainly targets beginners as they’re the only type of customer mentioned…
So that’s why I am teaching you how to become a player in the Make Money Online game (even as a total beginner)
It’ll also only work if you take action…

So the Affiliate Escape Plan could be for you, even if you’re a newbie. But only if you’re ready to commit to the process and are okay with the MLM vibes mentioned above.
70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Does Brian Brewer have a good reputation? For the most part, yes.
During my research of Brian Brewer, I found pretty much nothing but praise for him as an educator.
Brian’s been in the affiliate game for many years…

Since then, he has earned a free car from ClickFunnels’ affiliate program. This happens when an affiliate refers 100 active users paying $97 or more per month.

And he earned a “2 Comma Club” award from Clickfunnels for generating $1,000,000+ from a single sales funnel…

Brian has apparently also received an award from Legendary Marketer for generating over $100,000 in affiliate commissions.
But again, I wouldn’t necessarily call this a good thing, given that most Legendary Marketer affiliates – a good number of whom have signed up based on Brian’s recommendation – only earn $500 to $2,000 per year…

In addition, Brian has over 90k students on Udemy and has a 4.2/5 average rating from thousands of reviews…

So it’s evident that Brian walks his talk overall, and people online seem to think so as well.
From the Affiliate Escape Plan Facebook page…

TikTok…

YouTube…

And Reddit…

Here’s a video from Brian’s YouTube channel so you can get a feel for his style…
Are Brian Brewer students getting results?
There are a fair amount of students getting results with Affiliate Escape Plan. But the only proof I found was from people promoting AEP or Legendary Marketer
For example, here are some student-earning screenshots from the Affiliate Escape Plan checkout page…

Some students in the Facebook group are getting small wins promoting AEP as well…

While something is certainly better than nothing, I expected to see more student results, given that the group has 31.5k+ members.
And my MLM radar would’ve been quieter if students were showing proof of successfully promoting other offers. But I didn’t see any.
Also remember that, like anything, the Affiliate Escape Plan method requires effort and dedication…

There are 2 options for lifetime access to Affiliate Escape Plan:
$997 one-time$149/month for 10 monthsThe latter totals $1,490.
There are also a couple of additional minimal expenses, including:
~$10/year for a domain~$20/month for an email autoresponderOptionally, you might want to have an extra $100-$200 to invest in remarketing and TikTok or YouTube ads.
Affiliate Escape Plan Discount?I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code but have yet to find mention of one anywhere, and there’s no place to enter a code at checkout.
Sorry guys: it’s full-price or nothing.
Refund PolicyAffiliate Escape Plan does not give refunds…
“Due to the nature of this product, AFFILIATEESCAPEPLAN.COM and Madcam Publishing, LLC maintains a strict NO REFUND POLICY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES AND WITHOUT EXCEPTION.”
I’m not fond of this type of refund policy, as I’ve come across numerous online courses of the same “nature” that provide refunds.
How is Affiliate Escape Plan structured? Here’s what the training looks like once you log in…

And here’s everything you get…

Lessons are clearly labeled and organized sequentially into step-by-step videos. Most are over-the-shoulder and show you how to apply what you learn.
A worthwhile amount of content is shared but not so much that it’s overwhelming.
Additionally, you get resources like landing page and funnel templates, scripts, and other assets to help you get up and running quickly. That is if you’re ok with promoting AEP or Legendary Marketer.
Brian’s also very active in the Facebook group and answers questions often…

A few things to like about Affiliate Escape Plan…
Active and supportive private community. The training is comprehensive, practical, and step-by-step.Regularly updated, with free updates for existing students.Brian walks his talk.A solid amount of bonuses.Red Flags
Some knocks on Affiliate Escape Plan…
No refunds.Lack of significant success stories from students. The main product AEP shows you how to sell is AEP itself. Also recommends promoting an MLMy course (Legendary Marketer).A couple of additional costs not disclosed prior to buying.Other things you should knowYou’ll find lots of handy downloads within the training, including checklists, templates, worksheets, scripts, etc. There’s not a ton of content in the Affiliate Escape Plan. I’d say most of the value comes from having access to Brian through his bi-weekly coaching and Facebook community without needing to pay recurring fees.👇 Subscribe to eBiz Insider 👇Every Tuesday and Friday we email 30,895 people like you with top tips, insights and opportunities to build your online business. Should you join Affiliate Escape Plan?.
Affiliate Escape Plan has solid content, but it’s not totally obvious the content alone is worth $997. But you also get lifetime access to work directly with Brian, an experienced and successful affiliate marketer.
So, it’s a fine investment if you’re dedicated to building an affiliate marketing business, want to learn from Brian, and don’t mind the MLM vibes.
However, there are plenty of affiliate marketing courses out there that…
Are equally or less expensiveHave a 30-day refund guaranteeHave more in-depth affiliate trainingAlso, unlike AEP, plenty of other affiliate courses avoid the trap of primarily teaching how to promote the same course to other people.
So if you’re unsure about affiliate marketing, I’d advise against buying the Affiliate Escape Plan. Same goes for other courses that don’t offer refunds.
If you want to learn from Brian, you might want to try his free introductory course called the 90 Day Affiliate Challenge.
That way, you can get clearer on whether learning affiliate marketing from Brian Brewer is right for you.

$1.43 Per Hour Catfishing Lonely Dudes

Published June 13, 2023 by Niall Doherty
Shaan Puri at about the 34-minute mark of a recent podcast episode (video version)…
Do you know what the actual money maker is inside of an OnlyFans account, when these girls say that they’re making like a million dollars a month, do you know what actually drives that?
Apparently the main reason people sign up and pay money to these OnlyFans models, is to chat with them one-on-one and feel like they are in a relationship
But they’re not actually chatting with the model, as Shaan goes on to explain…
They hire farms of chatters… A lot of the money is made through… customer support… call centers… it’s basically dudes in the Philippines talking to dudes in the US pretending to be the girl.
They have this army of chatters that will chat with these guys and tease them and flirt with them and then upsell them and boom cha-ching, got the sale
I found a few posts online claiming rates of $25-35/hour for such chat jobs.
But those seem to be a scam
More realistic is this job post on Reddit listing the pay as “80 php an hour, approx 20k a month”
That works out to $1.43 per hour, approx $357 a month.
(Btw, construction workers in the Philippines apparently earn $370/month.)
Your responsibilities would include…
– Be able to chat with fans as though you are the model
– Run script to every possible subscriber
– Be authentic and chat like the girl would
Wow
Imagine working a job like that, pretending to be some hot girl and texting with lonely dudes all day, only to inevitably get replaced by an AI voice chat.
Related to this, Vice has an article from Nov 2021: I Make £41,000 Managing the Inbox Requests of OnlyFans Models
That tells the story of a French guy named Marc, who was doing a lot of chatting on behalf of his OF clients…
Over the course of the weekend, I might get 2,000 or so messages… A good 90 percent of my time on OnlyFans is spent replying to messages.
But it sounds like he was mainly getting paid to manage their accounts and social media…
For every contract, for every girl, I have a fixed fee of 2,500 euros (around £2,100) per month. Then I take five percent commission of what they make for every 5,000 euros. So, for example, if they earn 15,000 euros in a month, I take 15 percent, 20 percent for over 20,000 euros and so on. For the most well-known influencers, we’re exceeding 50,000 euros (£41,000).
I bet Marc is still managing such accounts but has outsourced the chatting to someone in the Philippines for $2/hour.

She Earns $5000/Month Redesigning People’s Signatures

Published June 13, 2023 by Niall Doherty
From an AP article entitled, Hate your signature? Try plastic surgery for autographs…
Priscilla Molina in Los Angeles does a minimum of 300 custom signatures a month, offering packages that include up to three ways to sign, limitless drafts or a new set of initials. She charges between $10 to $55, using the motto: “Where originality meets legacy.”
Molina said her Planet of Names clients include professionals and famous people in search of new ways to sign autographs, though her lips are sealed on the identities of high-profile signature seekers.
So people ask Priscilla to create a nicer version of their signature, and she likely earns $5000 or more each month doing just that
Looks like she gets most of her business , where she’s gained almost 1 million followers since in Sept 2021.
All her TikToks are simple videos of her writing words and letters.
For example, she has 12 million views on
Meanwhile, there’s a guy from Pakistan doing signature calligraphy on Fiverr. His pricing starts at $10 and he has 1000+ positive reviews.
He started on Fiverr in 2018 and could easily be earning $1000/month with that service. Which is pretty good in a country where the average monthly salary is less than $300
A third business along these lines, via a tweet by Kenneth Cassel…
Randomly found this biz
Fill out a questionnaire, and they send you a custom signature
They’ve done over 10k sales, lowest tier is $85
Kind of wild someone has made close to $1m selling signatures
The business he’s referring to is SignaturePro.
They claim to have served 10,500 clients.
10,500 x 85 = $892,500
Something about this one smells fishy to me though
The earliest version of their website is from June 2022, so only a year ago. And by then they had apparently served 6500 clients.
First post on their Instagram is also about a year old, and they launched on ProductHunt last July.
How did they manage to find and serve 6500 clients before launching their website or social media?
Ann Storm is listed as the co-founder of SignaturePro, and she barely seems to exist online. She calls herself the “chief calligrapher” and the company apparently has a bunch of other calligraphers on call.
So basically an agency model.
While I’m very skeptical about those first 6500 clients, I’m more inclined to believe that they’ve served 4000 clients over the past year.
Looks like their launch on ProductHunt went well, and they did get a mention in the same syndicated AP article that mentioned Priscilla.
Could be a case of fake it til you make it
4000 x 85 = $340,000
If true, that’s an incredible amount to earn in 1 year simply by redesigning people’s signatures

Social Media Manager: $2500 Monthly Profit After 4 Months

Published June 13, 2023 by Niall Doherty
A Redditor named HumbleBurritoo wrote last week
I just started my social media management business 4 months ago. I’m 30 [years old].
And…
I provide content [for clients] on all social media platforms, marketing services, and website and SEO services.
Then in another comment…
I’m now 4 months in and making about $2500/month profit after all my service fees taken off… this is only a side business, though. I’m only working on this in the evenings.
Elsewhere he says “I’m a 1 man show” who is “maybe working 30 hours a month” and he saves ~10 hours of work each week thanks to ChatGPT
Piecing together info from other posts…
I work with Contractors and with people in the construction field. I charge anywhere between $500-1500/month for my services.
No degree and no background. I kind of just stumbled upon it. Learned everything through trial and error and youtube. I’m a Civil Engineer by trade.
I went directly into a niche I had a background in. I recommend that to everyone so that when you have a sit down meeting with a client you can actually understand their business when they tell you what they do. It saves a tonne of time when it comes to creating content and it gives the client the confidence you can actually take on the role of managing their content.
Here’s how he landed his first client…
I had a contractor in replacing my windows and I needed my door to be replaced. The contractor i used had no social media presence, so i asked if we could swap me starting him a facebook page and running it for him for a month for him replacing my door with a prehumg door… I expected a no and for him to give me a quote…. he said sure. I had no experience in it, its just something i noticed he didnt have and he could use. So i did the research, learned design, i already had some writing experience… and now 3 months down the line and now I have 3 clients and a meeting with a potential 4th on friday.
How he gets more clients…
Cold messaging through Facebook. I look through contracting pages and look for what can be improved, what’s missing, and I’ll send them a message telling them about my services.
He goes on to give an example script for messaging prospective clients
HumbleBurritoo is based in Canada, as are most of his clients, but this is a simple business that could work in lots of countries and with lots of industries.
You could also scale it into an agency eventually, hiring people to do the day-to-day work while you focus on project management.
Could you do this where you are?
For an industry you’re familiar with?

Broke at 40, Rich at 50

Published June 9, 2023 by Niall Doherty
From Jen Sincero’s book, You Are a Badass at Making Money…
I knew precisely zero things about making money until I was in my forties. My forties! That’s the age when most people possess things like houses and college funds for their kids and an understanding of how the Dow Jones works. Meanwhile, at forty I possessed a barren bank account, a deep wrinkle line between my eyebrows from stress, and a first-name basis relationship with Sheila at the collection agency.
Jen would have been about 50 years old when she wrote that book.
Her words a few pages later…
I’m now not only making seven figures as a success coach and author, but I’m writing a book on how to make money. Me, Jen Sincero, ex-shoplifter and scrounger for coins in couch cushions (other people’s couch cushions)
Most people think you are who you’re going to be by age 40, but Jen’s story proves that you can make significant positive changes later in life
According to Jen, here’s how it’s done…
You just have to be willing to do what it takes. And here’s what it takes: Agreeing to get really really really really uncomfortable. Over and over again.
We’ve been raised to believe that you have to work hard to make money, and certainly there are times when this is true, but the real secret is you have to take huge, uncomfy risks. You have to do stuff you’ve never done before, to make yourself visible, to acknowledge your own awesomeness, to risk looking stupid.

Using ChatGPT to Build Simple Apps & Tools
If you wanted to build a simple tools site like HTML CSS Tools or RandomTools.io, how would you do it?
Two tweets that might give you some ideas
There’s a blog I need to check daily for new posts.
Doesn’t have an RSS feed.
Was paying RSS.app $10/m to handle this for me.
Just spent 20 mins in @Replit with ChatGPT helping me build a python app to take care of this for nothing.
(He goes on to share his code.)
I just cancelled a $30 subscription for a scraper tool, because I built it myself with the help of ChatGPT.
ChatGPT is making it easier than ever to build simple tools and apps like this.
You could make a bunch of them, put them on a website, and monetize with display ads. Follow Joseph Maxim’s playbook to build some links
Probably best to hyper focus on a niche for a website like this. I asked ChatGPT to come up with some unusual niches and it gave me some good jumping off points.
See my ChatGPT conversation and continue it yourself here
One idea it came up with…
Pet-related Tools: Create tools and calculators for pet owners, such as a dog age calculator (converting human years to dog years), cat BMI calculator, snake tank size estimator, or hamster wheel speed calculator. These tools can cater to pet enthusiasts seeking specific information related to their beloved companions.
Obviously you’d need to do some competitor research before diving into anything like this, see if such a website already exists and (if so) how tough it would be to outrank
Also, creating a website like that and driving traffic to it takes time.
Once you get good at building apps and tools with ChatGPT, a quicker way to monetize would be to offer your services as a freelancer.
If that interests you, follow Sam Matla’s advice here
10-Page Website: 4 Million Visitors and $5000 Per Month

Published June 9, 2023 by Niall Doherty
Joseph Maxim tweets…
My first ever #buildinpublic project I launched on @ProductHunt 4 years ago now gets 45M/year impressions on Google and brings in $5k MRR from display ads. Don’t need to be #1.. Just keep shipping.
Looks like the site is FixMySpeakers.com.
It’s a simple 10-page website with one clever feature: press the button on the homepage to play a sound that “plays a specific tone that generates sound waves which causes the water to be ejected.”
You know, after you’ve dropped your phone in the toilet or something
The site is filled out with a few simple blog posts, with titles like…
How to clean your phone and other devicesHow to clean your AirPodsHow to make Spotify sound louderJoseph launched the site on ProductHunt in February 2019
Then in April 2019 he tweeted…
Guys I did it! 100k+ page views in 2 months.
Asked how he did it, Joseph responded…
PH + reddit + lifehacker. I was never featured on [Hacker News] but i guess SEO plays a huge part. I got so much back links from other media sites and currently number one on keyword term “fix my speakers” on google search.
You can see a couple of his Reddit posts here and here
I’m guessing the site wasn’t covered in display ads when Joseph first posted about it on Reddit. Otherwise those posts likely would have been deleted by moderators.
(Oh, and he did eventually get the site featured on Hacker News, two years later.)
So it seems Joseph was able to get his little site to go somewhat viral via posts on Reddit and ProductHunt, which led to other media sites picking up the story and linking to the site.
4 years later the site has backlinks from ~1000 domains, including several very high-authority websites = amazing for SEO
Unsurprisingly, it’s still ranking #1 when you google “fix my speakers” in the USA
You could argue that Joseph got lucky here, but I think he’s a good example of someone making their own luck.
He has 4 other projects listed on his personal website, none of which seem to be as successful as FixMySpeakers, but it shows that he’s taking frequent shots on goal
And his newest project – HTML CSS Tools – looks like it has potential. It’s a collection of simple in-browser tools for frontend coders.
(A bit like RandomTools.io, which was earning $5000/month last I checked.)
To get lots of traffic flowing to that new site, Joseph will once again need to build backlinks. And it looks like he’s using the same playbook to accomplish that, with recent posts on Reddit and ProductHunt.
Note how there aren’t any display ads on HTML CSS Tools yet. I expect those will come later.

From 585 Subscribers to 100,187 in Exactly 1 Year

Published June 9, 2023 by Niall Doherty
John Coogan started his YouTube channel in November 2020 and now has 302K subscribers
It’s a channel about tech and geopolitics.
Top 3 videos in terms of views…
Microsoft Just KILLED Zuck’s Metaverse (8.4M)… Why Billionaires LOVE MrBeast (3.7M)… History of Xi Jinping (Full Documentary) (1M)…Paddy Galloway helped John grow the channel from 585 to 100,187 subscribers in a year and breaks down how it happened here.
Paddy points to a key trait John possesses
Not outcome focused
It was clear from our first strategy call together that John wasn’t just focused on what youtube could “get him”, he genuinely wanted to create good content.
If you’re not starting with that, you’re in trouble
A lot of people focus on the money first, but ironically it’s often the people who focus primarily on doing great work and delivering lots of value who do best financially
Another key trait noted by Paddy…
Constant iteration
Every time John posted, he learned from the data & applied it to his next upload. He wasn’t looking to just create something “good enough”…
This is anecdotal, but I’ve never seen someone with this mindset not succeed over a long-enough time horizon
John tweeted on this topic when he hit 20k subscribers…
improvements to the videos were gradual. Every week I would make small tweaks to:
– sound & lighting
– reading the script more naturally
– more engaging b-roll footage
– layering in music and sound design
Another tweet from John I found interesting, responding to someone saying that it’s embarrassing to start a podcast…
wrong. starting a youtube channel is much more embarrassing, but as Hegel wisely wrote: “do not kill the part of you that is cringe — kill the part of you that cringes”
So there you go: if you want to build a big YouTube channel, best embrace your cringe
