Random Geekery: Sherlock Holmes

Okay. It’s official. I am OBSESSED with Sherlock Holmes–the old Arthur Conan Doyle stories, the Robert Downey Jr. movies, the BBC show set in modern times…

I LOVE IT ALL.

I have been so fascinated by this character in every depiction of him! Anyone else have a character like that? I’m one of those people who likes seeing what people will do with an old beloved character and so far, each film adaptation (in my opinion) mentioned above has brought something unique and interesting to the table.

5 Ways to Interact with Your Favorite Authors!

Authors are a fun bunch of folks, but many of us are rather introverted–especially around crowds of new people. The advent of social media has enabled the hermit-like writers inside us to branch out and “get ourselves out there”! This is both blessing and burden. For instance, it is extremely difficult to be “on” all the time. Though many writers work from home, a lot don’t! Some writers have a home office and have the opportunity to be a novelist full-time. Some have day-jobs and have to squ...

Snippets of Novels in the Night

Ihave this problem. You see, I usually get crazy bursts of novel ideas at insane hours. Usually…just as I’m winding down to go to sleep…character dialogue or exposition willforce its way into my head saying, “WRITE ME! WRITE ME!”. Such a thing happened last night at 11:00 PM. My brain was like, “Noes! We gots ta go to sleeps!!!”, but the story refused to be quelled, so to the notebooks I went, pen in hand. I got a snippet of a scene written for my current manuscript and I got a whole new nove...

Leaves Talk: Fall is Monstrous

Just listen to these poor guys and their harrowed existence!

I don’t know why I’m so keen on showing the sad fate of leaves in the fall, but what can you do? LOL. I have thought about how humans think fall is SO beautiful when really, autumn is a very sad time for deciduous leaves. They’re all dying, people! At least they get to go out with a bang! I mean, some of the colors starting to show up this year are GORGEOUS!

Anyway, moving on, discovered an awesome new webcomic this week calledRed Moo...

Other Loves: Gaming

If you’ve been a reader of this blog for any given amount of time, you’ll have probably realized that I am a huge GEEK! I love it, though. I adoreStar Wars,The Lord of the Rings, anime, webcomics, graphic novels, fantasy and science-fiction stories, Pokemon, etc. The list could go on and on…BUT! Today, we’re making a stop at gaming. Growing up, my parents were great at figuring out fun things I would like. In fact, I think I might have been in third grade when my dad and mom got me a TV and V...
