Halloween Pumpkin and Paper Crafts!

Again, you may ask, “What does all this crafting nonsense have to do with writing and reading?” Well, first off, in order to do many DIY projects, you have to either WRITE an article about it or READ the instructions! LOL. So, HAH! As well, if you’ve read this article or this one, you’ll know that I love creativity and creative cross training. I believe that engaging in other creative activities helps writers to keep their brain wiring hooked up for story, character, and plot creation.

Enough...

Travelin’ Tales

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Halloween is only a day away! SO excited! The Philosopher and I have been doing a lot of traveling lately, which has slightly set back my writing schedules a bit, but it has helped my mind to relax and unwind tremendously. This previous weekend, my husband and I went to visit friends down in south Georgia. We spent lots of time relaxing, eating, talking, and exploring fun sites!

Can anyone guess by the pics above where we went? I’ll give you a hint…it’s REALLY awesome...

Creative Cross Training Halloween Style!

Hi, all!

You’ve heard me talk before about my love for creative cross training– the idea that we creative-types (novelists, artists, poets, graphic designers, etc.) need to regularly engage in creative activities outside our chosen profession//main-hobby. Well, since Halloween is only a few days away, I have some fun projects to complete over the next two days! I don’t have pictures for these things yet, but I will soon.

You might ask, how does this help a writer to write better novels? Does it...

My Favorite Children’s Picture Books!

Okay, you might think it’s strange that I love children’s picture books when I don’t have any kids (yet), but since I was in the teaching world before I became a full-time writer, I have accumulated QUITE a few of them. As well, my mom has been cleaning out her shelves and passing off all my favorite books from when I was a child to me for my future little ones. And yes…I STILL love to look at pictures books. Most of them are breathtakingly beautiful and the stories are so pure and lovely. I...

Leaves Talk: Vanity

I did indeed think they were pretty. I LOVE leaves, as you might have been able to tell. My husband and I were being goofy in the vinyard we visited last Saturday. WOW. This week has FLOWN by! This weekend will be just as busy as the last. The Philosopher and I will be spending quite a lot of time with friends over the next few days! SO exciting! I love spending time with my buddies!

Writing has been going REALLY well this week. I’ve been doing lots of editing on the next book in my Tales from...

Night Bells 7-Lines Meme

I’m officially tagging all of you readers in this post! Even if you’re not a writer, you could use this fun meme with the current book you’re reading! If you comment with your answers, be sure to tell us which book you’re using and who the author is so that they get their due credit. :-) If it’s your own work in progress, thanks so much for sharing!

Here are the Rules:

1. Go to the 77th page of your work-in-progress or latest book.

2. Count down 7 lines.

3. Copy the 7 sentences that follow, and post...

My Top 20 Favorite Book Covers

Happy Tuesday, all! I thought it’d be fun to showcase some of my favorite book covers that I’ve seen over the years! There are some really neat ones. I’m linking all the images from Goodreads, so you can go check out the synopses and things if you like. :-) Well, without further eloquence, here you are! My top 20 favorite book covers! These aren’t in a particular order, so don’t think number 1 is necessarily better in my mind than number 8. I just threw them all together, because I like them all...

A Getaway Weekend!

On Saturday, the Philosopher and I took a much needed break from the world and whisked away on an all-day date. Those days are SO special to me. My husband and I have been together since we were in high school and we established traditions of going on all-day dates back in those days. They’ve become a less frequent occurrence since getting married, because of being so busy, but when we do have them, we enjoy them to the fullest.

We started off our date with a drive through the country in order...
