Wednesday Wanderment

Ahhh…fall…It is truly a glorious time. The weather is starting to cool off, I can pull out my most favoritist (yes a word…*shifty eyes*) clothing articles, and can pile the covers on our bed. LOVE IT.

Things have been kind of stressful for the last week. It’s been hard to write. I was in a little bit of a funk for a while. However, things are turning up and I have been reminded so many times this week of how God is good and provides for us. I’ve been reading through my current manuscript and I...

Marketing for Indie Authors

This is what my desk looked like right before publishing my bookNight Bells(*cough*, *cough* that happens to be available here and *cough* here…). As you can see, it has been devoured by my notes on where to publish, what my highest marketing priorities were, etc. Today, I’m going to give the aspiring indie author tips on marketing! WOOHOO! I should be an expert right? Well, I’m not. Chuck that idea out the window. I’m new at this game, just like all of you. What I’m going to share today are...

Practicing Self-Care as a Writer

Self-care. It’s a practice that some people are GREAT at and others struggle with. I’m in the latter camp. I’m one of those people who feels really guilty about resting. I think a lot of writers are work-a-holics–even when they’re not producing much. As a writer, it is ESSENTIAL that we take stock of where our minds // hearts // bodies are and put on the breaks when we need to. There are generic ways in which we, as writers, can engage in self-care, but what are some writer-specific ways?

Hobbit Feasting

Well, I’m a day late in posting my hobbit feasting from this weekend, but that’s alright. Life was EXTREMELY busy. The hubs and I were out of town last night, so I’m posting about all our fun meals today!

First off, what hobbit DOESN’T eat breakfast?

I made tasty muffins Saturday morning to usher in Hobbit Day!

For dinner, we had planned on having sausage, “taters”, and onion, but we had some chicken that needed cooking, so we figured hobbits eat chicken, too!

Have no fear, though, we DEFINITELY...

IT’S HOBBIT DAY!

Happy Hobbit Day, folks!

For those of you who haven’t been keeping up with Tolkien Week, the end of Tolkien Week falls on Bilbo and Frodo Baggin’s collective birthday! Today, I’m making lots of fun hobbit-like food and enjoying some breakfast tea. Also, I might hop into LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online) to celebrate the festivities.

Go out there and eat, drink, and be merry!

And yes, that’s the Philosopher and I playing LOTRO together in game. We are totally dancing! Yes, we are GEEKS! LOL.

Later...

Leaves Talk: Hedge Leaf Snobs

I feel like some of this week’s leaves are bits of my psyche…LOL. P.S. there really IS a kitty on my porch. It’s been hanging out the last few days on our doormat. I WANTS IT TO STAY!!! I have a bad cat allergy, so I couldn’t keep a cat in the house, but having one outside is the next best thing. Sometimes, it sits under the hedges right outside the window where I sit at my desk. SO COOL!

Anyways, Happy Friday! I hope you enjoyed the leaves this morning. Hedgerows can be such snobs. We have se...

A Tolkien Week MUST READ Article

Hi, all!

We interrupt this beautiful fallish day in order to bring you a MUST READ article for Tolkien Week. The ladies and gents over at Middle-Earth News have crafted a masterpiece dedicated to the ways in which Tolkien (“The Professor”) has inspired them in their lives. I encourage you to read it, marinate in their words, and then post inspirations of your own!

Happy Tolkien Week!

Recent Obsessions (*GEEK* Warning)

So, my obsessions tend to run in cycles. For a while, I’ll be obsessed with a TV show or Movie series. Then, I’ll move on to reading like a rabid person for months at a time. Next, it’ll be video games. However, all of my obsessions have a similar thread: GEEKERY! Hence, the enormousLegend of Zelda: Ocarina of TimeStrategy Guide and N64 controller to the left. :-) I’ll admit it. I love being nerdy and geeky. I have always, ALWAYS adored fantasy, science-fiction, video games, manga, comics, movie...
