What’s Your Chocolate? Blog Hoppin’ Fun!

They look just like little bars of GOLD don’t they!? I’m participating in a blog hop today sponsored by M. Pax, Laura Eno, Brinda Berry, and Ciara Knight. The topic? You guessed it, CHOCOLATE! Most of us just drool thinking about it. What does chocolate have to do with writing or indie authorship, you might ask?

Happy thoughts and good feelings, people. One of my favorite ways to reward myself at the end of a long work week is to indulge in a few pieces of my favorite chocolate: Hershey’s Extra...

Captain America, Zelda, and Chocolate

Those were the items on my entertainment menu from last weekend. This weekend? well, Friday night, I spent training at my martial arts studio. I’m currently training for my black belt in the Korean martial art, Hapkido. Intense stuff. I love it, though. When I got home last night, I snuggled under comfy covers and read more of Lindsay Buroker’s Emperor’s Edge. SUCH a fabulous book. I am immensely enjoying it. This morning, I woke up and read more. I think I’m about 40% of the way through.

My h...

Book Review: Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier

When I was a teenager, there was a bookstore in town that sold hardcover copies of books at reduced prices. It was never clear to me whether these were “used” books or not, but it didn’t matter. I scored multiple hardback beauties in every trip. One day, I was perusing the Fantasy//Science-fiction shelf when I came across a gorgeous cover. It was creamy with delicately detailed drawings on the front. It’s title?Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier. I was intrigued. After taking it home,...

How Can Readers Help Indie and Traditional Authors?

Glad you asked!

Anyone who is a self-published or traditional author knows just how difficult it is to be discovered. There are a bazillion books out there, people! Lots of them are FANTASTIC, but have yet to be unearthed from the pile of the million other books with more recognition. However, we as authors can only do so much. We can write blog posts, tweet witty comments, and update our Facebook pages. We can spread word of mouth in our local cities. We can advertise on websites and in physi...

Release Week Madness! What’s Next?

As I’ve mentioned in this post and in the back of the book if you’ve read Night Bells, I have another novel coming out soon! It is currently in the editing process (which is long and arduous and laden with shark-infested waters), then it will have to undergo the publishing process. Thankfully, I learned some formatting tricks that will help the eBook prep go a little bit more smoothly. Printing prep is still a total nightmare to me, but that’s okay. It can be done in an afternoon and then it’...
